One of the things I love about the Great British Baking show is that they are all civil to one another and actually support each other. Something the cooking shows and competitions in the states should do but don't because of the idiotic people that design such shows over here. They don't care about the cooking they just care about ratings and conflict, it's really a shame.
R Painter I stopped watching Project Runway for one of these reasons. If I wanted all the MEAN GIRL drama in the workroom, I’d go back to teaching JH and volunteer for lunch duty.
As an American, this is the ONLY show I would enter. NICE people; to each other; NICE!! Compare it to "Master Chef" or others; MEAN!! I would have to learn "sponge" and other UK regional specialties though.....
R Painter Me too. I'm always impressed by how much they support each other. There is such empathy in that tent. They seem to have as much anxiety about the other's judging as they have about their own. Such nice people and such diversity there too.
Yeah I kind of felt like it was fixed! Every week they judge people based on that week and honestly Rahul did not deserve to stay that week. Still mad about it tbh lol
At this point, it’s part of the show now, coping with the British weather, whether it be chocolate collars on a hot day, or spun sugar on a really muggy day. Also, saves the environment, or something to that effect. :P
Walter White - I would imagine that if every competitor on the show quit their jobs to devote 100% of their time to practicing and perfecting prior to the taping, most would seem amazing.
A person can be both sassy and sweet! And, GIRL. I was living for that subtle tea he served when asked what Paul Hollywood is like off-camera...THAT KILLER DEADPAN STARE. I was living for it. lolol
@@JustAnotherPerson4U Not sure. He doesn’t come across as mean at all. He has a good sense of humor. I think the contestants, have created this intimidating character, in their minds. I sometimes find Prue more mean!
When the background music is not in the background, but just as loud as the people speaking, it makes it difficult to hear what the interviewees are saying.
The moment they start offering prize money’s the moment the show jumps the shark and turns into any old vicious reality cooking competition. I pray that never happens.
I thought that was so funny when I found out their prize was just a cake stand. I was like, you’d think the contestants would be more laid back and just have fun with it. Once you’re on the show you’ve gained some notoriety.
I suspect they don’t mix and test on consumer speakers/headphones and are making incorrect assumptions about the way it’s going to sound. They probably don’t listen to it on an iPhone speaker, for example. Definitely not helpful.
I think it's an American style for music to in the background all the time. Sadly it's getting more prevalent here in the UK. Just turn it off, I can keep my focus going without it and still be entertained. But at the least turn it down.

I think she kind of flubbed the showstopper. Considering her whimsical bakes coming into the showstopper, it was kind of a let down. Rahul was consistently good, and that's why he won.
Anna Burgess her final showstopper was amazing! I’m a classicist so I automatically loved it, but there was so much time and effort put into it, she even put the Ancient Greek for Atlantis on there! She seemed to be on top a lot, but to me Rahul was just kind of there every week..

I think they should compensate the contestants more. They should pay them for the ingredients they purchase as well as their time. Otherwise, it's only the well off and well supported who participate.

The only thing I don't like about the show is they don't air condition the tent let them be judged on their best work
I have to completely agree with you....no AC? C'mon people! The best bakers in the world are baking in the most suitable conditions....not fair!
You do have to remember they are filming a show, ACs and fans are loud and don’t make good tv
Its also the UK and we don’t really have AC here cause there’s not always a lot of point
Why not just let them cook inside? in a very large kitchen, air-conditioned?
At this point, it’s part of the show now, coping with the British weather, whether it be chocolate collars on a hot day, or spun sugar on a really muggy day. Also, saves the environment, or something to that effect. :P
There should be a season where the contestants are those who lost in the first episode of each of the previous seasons.
I have thought the same thing. It's been ten seasons now, enough for a good ten-episode series.
I think the first year's first exited contestant has died- he reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock actually. Can't remember his name.....
