I second this!!!
Man. I love how excited he gets about all the different parts. It really shows how passionate he is and makes me excited to listen to his music over and over again. 🥰
As always a masterpiece! I'd really like to see you in concert! 😍
Cody. This deeply inspires us. To combine all these wonderful crafts, of being the storyteller, the singer, the face and frontman, but the man behind the scenes at the same time, the producer and the mastermind. WOW. We can't wait to be able to see your music live. Let us know when you come to Germany.
This song is such a masterpiece I’m truly so amazed of all of the things you do cody!! I can’t even express the gratitude for all of the songs you make, every single one is made with so much care and passion and you can really feel all of the hard work that has been put into every single art piece. yes!! Art piece, it’s majestic, again big thanks you inspire me soo much as an artist and human!
I never knew these video's excisted and you have no idea how exited I am. I always listen to your music for about a thousand times to try and analyse it by myself, but hearing your takes and things and seeing how much fun you have in it... Well, I'm just so happy with these video's, you have no idea!
I appreciate watching these musical breakdowns so much! Thank you for taking the time to do this!
The mix you make between pop and orchestra is incredible.
It's insane how humble and classy you are at the same time.
After I watch these breakdowns, the song sounds SO different than it was before. I hear new things that I haven’t heard before because I didn’t realize they were there
Each time you release a new song I always just wait to see the breakdowns i just love them
Thank you SO MUCH for doing this!!
Absolutely love this song! And loved this video! Thanks for breaking it all down!
You're a musical genius. That's all I have to say
Hope you keep making music like this for many years to come 👊
This song is amazing!!! So hopeful and epic!!
He seamlessly blends lyrics with melody - it’s incredible how he uses so much music theory to compliment the lyrics
These breakdowns give so so so much insight into how much thought he puts into his songs
I would kill to see a breakdown of photograph or pictures of mountains - they’re my all time favourites!!
I love love love that you do these videos!!! 🎉
Just love these!! It’s so fun to see into the inner workings of the songs and the inspiration behind all these amazing choices! Thanks for sharing! ❤
I don't know shit about music but I love listening to yours and your song breakdowns.
No comments, just want to send my admiration from China! Hope that someday you’ll hold a live concert in my country!
These breakdowns need to be like 2 hours longer. I'd watch it.
MUCH APPRECIATED! I wanna learn music from you...
As always wonderfully done ❤
Thank you for doing these breakdowns! I love how you do these songs, and it only inspires people like me more!

You just keep on surprising me with how gifted you are. Truly talented. Thank you for giving us a look into your process again. I know it was a lot of work, but your work always pays off.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you, so delighted to hear such good music and fantastic production these days :) I sound ancient :D "In my day..."
Amazing stuff as usual!
Hey Cody I’m really interested to see a breakdown of your song start a wave, it’s my favorite. Could we maybe get a breakdown on that one? :)
Absolutely nailed his goal, I've always thought it gave off the vibes of How to train your dragon, and the greatest showman
I love watching these, Cody! It's always interesting to get a little glimpse behind the production.
Consider this a little request for "That Thing That You Do" or "Somebody to You"!
Also. I would pay for multitracks for these songs! (Patreon??)
Great job 👏🏽
So good dude 👏
Pleasee hold a concert in Canada we need to hear all this live
I was hopin' there'd be one of these! :-)
LOVE this song so much! I can definitely hear the influence from the Greatest Showman coming through on those BGVs. Would love to see a proper studio tour as well for the nerds like me!
(Side note I wish the video was in stereo so we can hear what your hearing)
How are you so good in orchestrating? I envy you. You make it look easy like its nothing!
Shout out to the Love Somebody intro drum fill 👌👌
Love the song. Love your breakdown. I truly believe you could be the next Alan Menken. I hope our paths cross in Hollywood someday!
This man is the next George Gershwin
Hi Cody! When composing music that emulates a style or certain sound that you love, how do you make it original and avoid being too similar to the inspiration? I love how this reminds me of John Powell's score but is also different and new. Thank you! it was so good to meet you at Starbucks back in December in NC!
Wow this was amazing! I always love seeing your processes. My question is why you switch from Logic to protools in the process? Is it because logic is more of a demo version and protools is easier for mixing? Also how do you manage changing files and formats, seems like a lot of effort.
I love it! I have a question! When the orchestra is recording, I see they are sometimes wearing headphones. Other than possibly a click track, is there anything else they are listening to?
❤
Cody, great breakdown as always... one small note, the audio is mono on this one. Doesn't kill the vibe, but I'm guessing not what you meant.
Cody! Two questions my man - 1: When Ben called out that dude for being Old at the Kennedy Center, did you know ahead of time that was going to go down? 2. Will you give Cory Wong a high five and then a low five, but make sure he missed the low five the next time you see him? Gorgeous Song - keep on keepin' on!
Hi Cody, I've been a big fan of your music for a long time. I really like these breakdowns. I appreciate how much work goes into each of your songs. They're really well done, and they're so artistic.
I have a question. I don't know a lot about mixing, but what is the purpose of using Logic then moving it into Pro Tools? Is Logic mostly used as a composition tool, then Pro Tools as a mixing tool?
Pro Tools is used for recording the live orchestra, so in this case the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It's just a standard software used in many studios for recording. I think Logic is much more friendly in terms of using midi compared to PT and Cody often temps his songs in midi first. If a lot of instruments/parts of the songs are recorded live, I think he would mix in PT since everything is already there. But for this song, since there are only a couple of strings recorded live, he chose to import those live recordings into the Logic session instead where all of the (midi) instruments are already there
about to go sleep, now I have this music stuck in my head. how can I sleep. 😂😂😂
I'm just learning about theory and I'm just wondering what is the measure of this song? because when I count I can get 4/4 but in the logic project I can see 6/8
Are we still nerds if we like the breakdown vids? As opposed to the score vids?
EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOUR DOING CODY POSTED
Have you heard 'in my head' by mad tsai. I remember listening to it the first time and thinking (not the lyrics) it sounded like the style of some of your songs
How do you keep you keep your desk so clean?!?!? 🙂
Do your lyrics come before or after you have a melody?
Any advice for a young composer?
Hi Cody
