I used to like farmers carry but I recently fell In love suitcase deadlifts doing triples with a hammer curl bar for core, yoke and forearms. It's great
Ivans on a daily strength adventure man i love it. Ive had a good time with 45lb plate overhead and walking with it. Tremendous remedy for desk posture
I remember the first time carrying a 35 kg backpack, a 15 kg ammunition vest, and a 4,5 kg automatic rifle. I thought I was going to die just 100 meter into the first long walk. It's insane how heavy it is carrying shit around.
totally yes; dumbell carries (single &/or double) work all the small muscles, easily overlooked. This builds greater resilience against injury, to progress the big SBD lifts more safely! 😃
Hi! Thanks for the interesting video as always! Have you looked into rucking? Sounds like your story about the weightvest in the end. I’m considering starting it with a weightvest too
Dude take a video of you doing farmers carries, I got super interested after this video but you're just benching and squatting. I wanna see some intense farmers carrying!
Hey mr Serbian man, look at 7:13 time. You look like gladiator, iv seen idiots take steroids and never look like this! This is very good and i like your progress, one day i will also become this man! Cant be Serbian but i can be man!
Ivan I think same..long time in my mind walk with 30 kg over my max squat...but facility in my gym so I just walk out and hold one minute ....farmers I can do heavy in my gym 50 kg each hand plus 20 kg plate on my wrist...awesome both
If I sort of do an upper lower split. Lifting every other day… where would you put the farmers? Upper or lower day? My days are lower with deadlift emphasis, upper heavy push with some rows, lower with squat focus, upper push only, repeat.
If available at your gym try trap bar farmers walks bro. You can load them up and you don’t have the annoyingness of the dumbbells hitting your legs and shit, which also makes it easier to move at a faster pace/run if you so desire. Also zercher or front rack walks will annihilate the core/abs like nothing else I feel ya on talking about how good shit is and then never doing it myself 😂 cause I literally haven’t done any of the shit I just recommended for at least a year, even though I think it’s top tier shit
When you have a kid and lug around your kid in one of those car seat things for a few hours - my God.... Don't forget about sled work - sled pushes and pulls are also magical. Head carries (like women carrying a basket to market) are also special juju.
Even walking to get groceries and carrying them home can be pretty intense if you commit to not putting them down at all. My traps are absolutely melted to nothing and my whole body feels lit up by the time i get to my apartment entrance man
This is a good case study for the importance of isolation exercises. This guy has elite level strength in compound exercises yet he looks like an average guy in the gym who fucks around and doesn't know what he's doing. Just wondering how much of that will change if he does proper Hypertrophy training for a couple of years.
I just got myself a weighted vest that's adjustable in 1 kilo increments up to 30kg and I intend to start wearing it all the time and increasing the weight little by little. Yesterday I used 8 kilos for the whole day and could really feel my legs and core working. I think this is similar to all these carries, except you can have the vest on for 16 hours straight.
Think Dan John would love this - a love letter to carries haha. Gonna walk some kettle bells around the garden, cheers Ivan

I think the same applies to the 20 rep squat. It’s basically a loaded yoke for 3-4 minutes with the addition of squats
You're a tank Ivan, very inspiring, thanks man

I mentioned these before, they are GREAT.
Alternate farmer walks and suitcase carries.

Exactly Ivan is more stronger than everyone I know on steroids yes he has a bit fat but so what he looks great I think

I'd be interested in your exercise tier lists after so much experience over the years
Farmers carry is good it keeps your traps and shoulders under constant load. Good size builder and strength.
bros found the brick wall of bench at 130 x 3, keen to see how you break it.
Ivan how is your benchpress going? I am stuck at 130 triple. Did you every try a slingshot? Maybe it can help to break a plateau. Best regards Nick
Yup , the farmers carries is unique , enjoy while it last
Incorporating some Trapbar Farmers Walks, game changer in how I feel day to day and losing weight while maintaining strength
squats looked elastic and clean, with 160 looks like you even had the energy to push press the bar overhead ahah
" if you want to be a strongman and talk the talk you better do your farmers walk "
I’ve been doing them 3-4 times a week and it’s made a big difference for me overall especially in my upper back and traps
How old are you Ivan and how long have you been training for strenght?

do you strap up for the farmer's walks?

Merry christmas! I say suitcase carries are better. Engages your core so much better
Merry Christmas man.
Yeh those are awesome too!
try out zercher carrys. you can load those pretty heavy without the grip fatigue
Even walking to get groceries and carrying them home can be pretty intense if you commit to not putting them down at all. My traps are absolutely melted to nothing and my whole body feels lit up by the time i get to my apartment entrance man
Dude, check out the Inman mile challenge. 150% bodyweight on the bar on your back and walk a mile
I heard that heavy yolk walks will make your bones sore. Its quite something apparently
what is your height and weight?
i think he's 184cm @102kg
Stacked brother
Is there an exercise that hasn’t been the best exercise yet?
Shhhhh
Gotta use straps for some farmer walks. Why let such small forearm muscles dictate how much you can carry - just like in the deadlift

Gpp is really good.. try pushing and pulling a sled also. Loui Simmons was big on this..
I do suitcase carry as well. Destroys my cns though.
He knows what he is doing with those pants lol
Caked up
Bro try walking with a 100kg sandbag with a bear hug hold.

Uncomfortable and wouldn't recommend that for strength.
@@adeelali8417highly doubt he’s doing it for comfort.
That’s gonna wreck your knees. Don’t find out the hard way. Use it for short durations a couple times a week.
Don't be dramatic @@ijrebuck
