DPI has a form for everyone to have a say about this 12month trial ban. I urge every fisher to go to their website and excercise their right to submit their opinion.
Cracking vid mate. I cant believe you managed to land that many highly threatened and endangered fish! I think thats how DPI gathers their scientific data now, drone footage lol.
Green type activism can have unintended consequences on our daily lives. Let's advocate for balanced and science-based approaches to protect our freedoms and rights
Just rode the bike down to Shelly's for a brew on 3rd Mar, noticed the DPI signage has not been changed yet, there must be thousands of these signs up and down the coast. Love to know how much this will cost to change and I bet our recreational fishing licences will picking up the tab.
The government cannot take away the ideals and pursuits of thousands of fishing enthusiasts because of the wrong behavior of a very few individuals and to satisfy the wishes of a small group of people.
I'm with you buddy so ridiculous they put a band on groper just because of a couple idiots spearfishing for them. Not based on how many there are in our ocean. I used to fish for them on the rocks and there was heaps there . I only kept one for a feed and I caught like up to about six each time I went out. Out of all of this fishing is just going to be made not enjoying able for people anymore waking dumb bans in place for nothing. tight lines buddy.
I always thought that if a big one is removed from the area , a smaller one changes sex & colour to replace it. So the big blue one everyone says has been there for 50 years is bullshit. Another one has just replaced it. Am I wrong ? Please let me know.
I guess that’s what happens when public outrage and media attention supersede people who fish for the animal. Essentially that’s what the ban stemmed from. A fish was speared in the most populated part of the state. In an area you’re not supposed to spear. Hence the outrage was worsened. It’s a trail ban. No need to get your nickers in a knot. This just goes to show the power of public pressure don’t blame DPI it’s the general public you should be upset at.
Precisely why fisheries are a joke. Groper populations are just fine as anyone who puts a mask on can attest. Get serious fisheries. There’s other species out there that need actually protection. Pathetic!

Cheers Luke! It took me a while to get through all the Groper before I caught that red rock cod!

A balanced and science-based approach is definitely the way to go
Great video mate! Looks like such a good fun fishery, shame what happened, hopefully they come to their senses next year.
Cheers mate, let’s hope sanity prevails

Yeah good point Paul, I hadn’t thought of that, what a waste of tax payer money on something completely unjustified!

Bravo! Great vid. Share your sentiments completely, only jealous i didn't get out and do the same. Hopefully logic prevails in 12 months.
Cheers mate! Yes, let’s hope logic prevails
More then likely the drone was NSW fisheries .

You are 100% correct on all fronts, the lifecycle of BGs and the pile of BS we’ve been fed

It's a 12 month trial so instead of having a sook about it here why don't you leave some feedback with DPI 🙄
Great suggestion, I’ll forward them the link 👍

I’ll do both, feedback incoming 👍
Same down here on the south coast mate, groper are prolific.
👍👍, the ban just doesn’t make sense given how prolific they are in NSW
Fisheries in QLD are using drones mate
Yeah right, I can understand why they would. That drone caught me by surprise, cheers
