    HOW TO WEAR BROWN
The simple answer is relatively easily and across a wide spectrum of outfits in the overall scale of formality. With the only real exceptions being black tie and white tie. Brown and its various shades serve as one of the core foundational base colors in any man's formal wardrobe along with shades of gray and shades of blue. In other words, brown works to ground an outfit complementing various other colors and counterbalancing any particularly bright hues you may be wearing elsewhere.
    Brown & Blue
First of all, orange and blue are opposite of one another on the color wheel, an example of complementary colors. Because brown very often has orange tones in it, it works to complement blue in a similar fashion and secondly, because both brown and blue come in a wide variety of shades, it should be easy for any man to find shades of each color that work well for him.
    Brown & Gray
Similarly to how brown pairs well with blue, it can also be paired with the other foundational base color, gray. While it's a little bit less conventional to pair these two colors together, just make sure that your garments are harmonizing in terms of both formality and seasonality and you'll be good to go. As an example, some gray flannel trousers paired with a tweed sport coat featuring brown tones would be good base pieces for a winter ensemble.
    Brown & Green
One more color with which brown pairs especially well is green. This is likely due to how often you'll see both of these colors pairing together in nature.
    Footwear
Oxfords, derbys, loafers, and monk straps are all available in various shades of brown leather, some with red tones as well and suede can be another good option which you'll also find in brown.

    Love this.
I have a lot of brown pieces in my wardrobe, from shirts, pants, suits, jackets, socks, and shoes. Basically everything, haha.
And yes, I really like brown because it compliments my favourite colours: blue and purple.

Okay,...I think this was the best TH-cam style video I've seen in 2019. This was REALLY good. I've seen no one else cover this specific color so well, it's history and so on. I've been wondering if I look good in brown or not...other than shoes and brown leather coats. Um, god this has got me thinking. Okay brown (which is neutral yellows and oranges, generally),...would pair well against small and stronger notes of it's analogous color; Red. I feel a tobacco brown or umber/ochre V-neck or cardigan with a white button down shirt would look phenomenal paired against a warm red silk knit tie...for example. All the other color harmonies you suggested in the grays, blues, and greens are just spot on phenomenal. Thank you.

@Jordan Ryos I'm not a fan of orangey browns, but the rest it varies. Most of my clothes either fall into khakis and tans or darker browns, and both are equally versatile but have opposite effects in contrast. Although being colourblind, I find it hard to be more specific than light or dark, I'm afraid.

It can be easily paired with other Earth-toned colors, as well as blues, greys, and more vibrant shades like burgundy and orange. I love my tweed, and brown is abundant in my wardrobe.

I pair brown with blue so that it all looks harmonious. The most common brown thing I wear are my brown suede leather boots, which resemble WWII combat boots. The other brown garment I pair things with is my vintage leather jacket. My father gave it to me a few years ago. It is weathered, but doesn’t fully look like I’ve dragged it across a trench and back. I also have a brown sports jacket that I bought vintage and it fits me almost perfectly. In the cool months of the year, I have my khaki canvas work coat. I like it because it brings a more casual look to my appearance, especially due to the fact that I’m in high school.

Love this video. I have a very similar suit to the one Preston is wearing, in a charcoal brown pinstripe. It’s vintage wool suit by Austin Reed and I picked it up online for about £25! Like Preston’s, it looks black or even charcoal grey from a distance. I don’t have as much brown as I used to but wore quite a lot of it when I was in my late teens and twenties. I do have a brown leather jacket and a camel overcoat (again, similar to the one in the vid) but not as many sweaters, so I should probably get some. Brown shoes goes without saying! I’ve had loads of pairs of desert boots in brown, with a tobacco pair a particular favourite.
I also agree that black is overrated!

Great video, as usual. I actually own a similar brown pinstripe suit. I do have a question about something that I notice you guys consistently doing on this channel. I've found you often refer first to the metal in your cufflinks, and then follow it up with "featuring ____ as the stone." Is this the typical way of describing cufflinks? From the perspective of someone who's quite interested in jewelry, it feels rather awkward. For example, if I were to talk about a particular ring of mine I would say "this ring is tanzanite, set in yellow gold." The stone would almost always be mentioned first, followed by the setting. Why is it that the metal is prioritized when the two of you are describing cufflinks? This isn't really a criticism, it's just a curious thing that I've noticed. Thanks for the great videos and I look forward to the next one!

My wife says that she likes seeing me in brown because it's much more approachable; also reminds her of the many professors who enjoy brown over other coloured suits. I guess it's a colour (besides shoes) to consider for a more casual setting.

Actually, I've got the bottom of the sweater folded up under itself in the clip you've mentioned--an alternative style which isn't as commonly seen today (along with the once-popular trend of tucking the sweater into the trousers). Were I wearing the bottom in the more typical style, the last button would indeed be left undone. :) Thanks for watching!

I know it's weird to ask about a video when it's about a year old but does anyone know how to style brown when you're an indian guy? ... I've always loved the color and it looks amazing on other people but how do I pull it off with a brown complexion without it washing me out?
