I have only one question I have the M adaptive suspension do you recommend lowering the car or just keep it stock? Thanks, I love all your videos nice job keep it up.
Hi thank u for checking out the site! The m adaptive suspension will still work with lowering springs but the difference between the drive modes won’t be nearly as noticeable it’ll always sit in s stiffer position than stock. Me personally with horrible roads where I live I’d keep it stock with the M adaptive suspensions for sure, but if you really want it for aesthetics no harm really done just slightly more uncomfortable. Performance wise shouldn’t be an issue.
I guess is a bit different for everyone. I have driven the new supra and the golf r mk7 and i found the to be much more fun than a supra since it feels like a go kart than a jet. I have a 2018 RS3 and if you drove it, you would think it was a V6 or more. Overtaking a slower car is like an experience onto its own. Stock I did 11.92 @ 117mph
I am not a fan of BMWs with large grilles. In terms of appearance, I find the M340i to be superior to the M3/M4. As for performance, I lean towards all-wheel drive since I don't engage in track driving.
What wheels you have on M340i? I love the bigger thicker tiers. They must be also comfier and better for worse quality roads. Also what is ground clearance of the 340i? The road/pavement in front of our building has some spots where you can definitely use decent clearance if I buy it I would not wanna ruin the bumpers or something on the underside of the car while parking there.
I'm torn between both.. how easy is it to navigate the 340 around a parkade, is it too big for downtown life in general? For me its way nicer to sit it, and for a road trip I'll take the 340 all day long, just daily commute I'm torn...
M340 isn’t that big it’s still midsize so it’s easy to drive or maneuver any parkade. In North America the size difference isn’t noticeable at all and shouldn’t affect anything but if you live in Europe the RS3 is probably easier to drive around.
@@Sleepygarage Thanks, no I'm west coast Canada so the parkade life is legit lol. . I think the M340 would give me more enjoyment stepping into, the Audi are a dime a dozen around here too. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a 2021 M340 xdrive with 20k KM on in....
@Elvisisalive just get the m340i xdrive lol the car is not big at all. Just traded in a 2018 Shelby GT350 on a 2020 m340ix and the car feels smaller and handles better than the track built Shelby. @@bradt4062 I think you are correct, that's the way I will go. Ill go look up the ps4s thanks for the intel, we have some pretty bad winter moments here on the highways so I don't mind spending more money on the tires to get the good ones.
@@elvisisalive2716 depends on what you like most and what’s easily available for you to purchase. With the rs3 being discontinued it is a lot tougher to find a well priced, low kms car. Definitely test drive both, but if you’re already siding with the m340i, just pull the trigger!
Great video! I’m new to cars and I’m thinking of getting a m340i sleepy. My question is for mods like spoilers, diffusers, mirrors caps, blacked out grills - how do ppl normally go about modding their car? Do they buy aftermarket and then install everything by themselves or do they take it to a garage? I’m quite busy so I was just wondering how it works? I’m a bit naive in this topic so would appreciate your help 🙏🏾☺️
Yeah for those mods usually people just do themselves at home, doesn’t require much time or knowledge. But there are shops that will do it for ya, if you’re in the Toronto area I could offer suggestions for good places for it. If u do need parts hit up www.sleepygarage.com for all those parts for your M340. Hope u get your m340 soon!
My favorite thing about my m340i is that most people underestimate it, I’m gonna wait a while to do cosmetic mods on mine because I love surprising the American muscle cars that don’t know much about bmws
Yup all of those mods can easily be done at home. TH-cam tutorials help a ton. Just crack open a nice cold beer or soda, and get to it. I did those things on mine, along with swapping wheels.
Amazing review, Beautiful cars..... really good comparison between the cars. You are right M3 is more expensive and alot quicker than the RS3. M340i is more aligned with RS3 price wise ofcouse.
@@fzr1000981you can read a brochure, congrats. Now do yourself a favor and look at drag times and track times, the RS3 isn’t even close to a G80 M3. RS5 is the class that competes with the M3, not the RS3 and there’s a reason for that. You’re better off comparing an F80 M3 or the comp M2, bc the G80/2 platform is setting records. I’m not a brand loyalist and enjoy all german engineering, but the consensus has been for awhile that Audi’s are good at everything, great all-rounders, but they do not excel over their competitors in any performance category. There’s a reason BMW’s aftermarket support is huge and cheaper than their Audi and Mercedes counterparts. It would be great for Audi to chase performance again and push the envelope, but this has not been their design philosophy/direction since at least 2020.
Great video but when comparing platforms you should mention the RS3/Daza has the most tuning potential. There are many 8 second RS3’s out there and only one 8 second M3/M340. The M340 will never be a 7 second car
Give it a couple more years. The Supra crowd is developing more tunes and parts. Till then, I will keep enjoying my RS3 like I have been for almost 6 years.
Hey, big fan from Australia here. I’m currently in the market for one of these 2 cars or a C43 AMG. Just wondering - is that the M performance exhaust on the M340i? Or is that a different exhaust setup? It sounds beautiful . Excellent video all round by the way, great content.
Great video. But the RS3 has 8 piston front callipers and little baby single piston rears (same as A3/S3) and take my word the RS3 brakes do not like heat. Brake fade is terrible on the steel rotor cars.
340i is more tunable on stock engine you can easily get 700+. The rs3 is a good car but you gotta change pistons rods etc to reach that hp. M340i for me!!! Amazing video bud.

I just ordered a 2025 M340i. Portimaeo Blue with a tan interior. I test drove both of these models and the Audi does win the interior segment hands down I feel the B58 engine is much more reliable than the Audi and I feel the BMW could easily go 100k miles with just the suggested maintenance.
Extremely professional and amazing video! Just wondering if you've done anything to the exhaust on the M340? I have a 2021 M340 that sounds no where near as exciting as that!

I can't help but think that 'Hot Hatches' like the RS3 and A45s are just pointless... Hatchbacks are cheap cars, they're the cheapest way to get something with a Mercedes/BMW/Audi badge on them, power for power, they're cheaper than their big siblings, so the 120i vs 318i, big difference in price, but not so different in power. You pay for the superior features of a Sedan/Coupe, so things like extra room for cargo and passengers, but also a FAR better suspension and ride quality, better noise isolation, far better interior build quality, better tech, a more efficent engine, streamline looks and aero, as well as a host of other things that a cheap hatchback can't match. When you see the RS3 and A45s are the same price (sometimes more) than the M340i, with all 3 being very similar in performace, but the M340i of course being a Sedan, having all of the above mentioned advantages, really does make the Hot Hatches feel pointless. If they were 10k less, maybe, but not at the same price as the far superior 3-series.

Also for highway travel which I do a lot of, the fuel economy and size may be better. What winter tires are you running, and is the 340 'decent' in the snow? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a 2021 M340 xdrive with 20k KM on in....
@Elvisisalive just get the m340i xdrive lol the car is not big at all. Just traded in a 2018 Shelby GT350 on a 2020 m340ix and the car feels smaller and handles better than the track built Shelby. Highway travel is super smooth and eco pro will be appreciated for your daily commuting. Would recommend michelin Ps4s for your all year tires with great drivability
RS3 is a fun car to drive and definitely turns heads, but does lack the interior and tech you would get in the m340i. Definitely test drive both, but if you’re already siding with the m340i, just pull the trigger!
Amazing video mate !!
Thanks a lot!
Cinematopgraphy just keeps getting better. Great video! Bmw on top though
Thank u 🙏
Just ordered my M340i. Gonna be a long couple months.
Congrats! Worth the wait!
Couple months is a walk through the park lol! I ordered an RS3, and was told 18 month wait approximately!
i feel like M340`s interior is much much better than RS3
Needed a comparison of the current RS3, but honesty these are completely different cars. The 340 is a boat
Nicely done. AudiGang
Thank u
@@Sleepygarage thanks sleepy, yes please send those suggestions over, you are amazing ☺️
Thank u!
To be fair, it doesn’t compete in the same class at all. The S4 is positioned as a direct competitor to the M340i.
A class above
Sorry, it's not quicker. Check 0-60 times and get a clue
@@Cryemoar digging up year old thread and writing a novel isn't smart. I own a 2025 M2 now...relax
Great video but when comparing platforms you should mention the RS3/Daza has the most tuning potential. There are many 8 second RS3’s out there and only one 8 second M3/M340. The M340 will never be a 7 second car
Good to know, thanks!
Give it a couple more years. The Supra crowd is developing more tunes and parts.
Till then, I will keep enjoying my RS3 like I have been for almost 6 years.
@@ryanb8736 the supra is already in the 7’s because its 3300 pounds
Always loved that shape RS3
Hey, big fan from Australia here. I’m currently in the market for one of these 2 cars or a C43 AMG. Just wondering - is that the M performance exhaust on the M340i? Or is that a different exhaust setup? It sounds beautiful . Excellent video all round by the way, great content.
Certain clips it was with a donwpipe and certain clips it was stock. The 2020 just sounds way more aggressive with the burbles
Thank u :)
Great video. But the RS3 has 8 piston front callipers and little baby single piston rears (same as A3/S3) and take my word the RS3 brakes do not like heat. Brake fade is terrible on the steel rotor cars.
Thank u for the info!
Great video, thank you for sharing!
Thank u!
Good video, cinematography is wonderful 🤌🏻
Thank u 🙏
I ended up going for an 8V RS3 with so the dynamic plus package. Hopefully I won’t regret it 😂
I think you should do a 4.0t S6 vs 2018ish BMW M550i xdrivr
Very cool video. Both are excellent vehicles!!
Couldn’t agree more!
Where do you go for your drives? Those roads look super fun
Caledon, ON
340i is more tunable on stock engine you can easily get 700+. The rs3 is a good car but you gotta change pistons rods etc to reach that hp.
M340i for me!!! Amazing video bud.
Can you do a video going over mods for your M340i?
I have an M340 only video posted going through some of the appearance mods I did and I’ve attached links in the description to some of the products. Thanks
Sick editing
Preciate it bro
Audi needs to revise their styling. The BMW looks sooooo much better....
The new RS3 looks so much better. A more special car.
The seats on the RS3 are electric as option, also: the Audi Logo is black with black pack.
Great video my friend.
Preciate it
What is the tire height on the M340i? I do not think those are 19s but 18s with 45/50 tire height or at least it looks like it.
That RS3 is very bare bones spec:ed, all of the things you mentioned like electric seats etc are all options on both the BMW and Audi
Love the RS3!
Too bad Canada doesn’t get the new RS3. It would have been nice to compare the M340 vs. the 8Y.
Yeah I wanted to do the 8Y but none in Canada :(
US only got the launch edition of 250. Nobody is sure if US will be able to get anymore. Production may come to a stop.
@Sleepygarage I think you can still import one from USA :) if you watched sam car legion's latest videos I guess he drag raced one like that here in Canada. Maybe you can contact its Canadian ( I believe he lives in Ontario too) owner and do a review with it on your channel soon 😊
Amazing video, BMW for the win!
Preciate it 🙏🙏
The RS3 isn’t the new RS3 8y which is much better and faster .
I just ordered a 2025 M340i. Portimaeo Blue with a tan interior. I test drove both of these models and the Audi does win the interior segment hands down I feel the B58 engine is much more reliable than the Audi and I feel the BMW could easily go 100k miles with just the suggested maintenance.
ty for dressing up and wearing ur nice slides for this video.
Lmao forgot to put on shoes
Extremely professional and amazing video! Just wondering if you've done anything to the exhaust on the M340? I have a 2021 M340 that sounds no where near as exciting as that!
Thank u, I have a downpipe on now but most those shots were actually when it’s stock exhaust. The 2020 M340 just has burbles and pops from factory.
@@Sleepygarage damn they’ve really toned down the exhaust then 😓
@@Sharviperare you in Europe? European spec cars have more regulations regarding exhausts, hence American cars are louder than the European spec ones
@@rb0042 yeah UK, that explains it then sadly, will probably get something done to it soon
bro put a drag race between the two cars
They’re not powered not due to weight savings. Rather to make room for helmet clearance. Wrong again on the RS3 🤦♂️
on my 2023 m340 i can get 500-550 highway miles per tank. that engine in phenomenal.
Yeah it’s so efficient for what it is
What front lip is on that m340i?
www.sleepygarage.com
That G20 is a beauty.
Thank u :)
Loving the production increase, I like both cars but the m340 takes the win because on so many levels it’s a better car. Remember Mother’s Day is tomorrow people buy your moms something without our moms we would have a hard time affording these cars.
It's not a better car on track, it gets smoked (also 0-60). Also he isn't evaluating the current gen RS3. Check C&D Lightning Lap
@@fzr1000981 i love the competition between both cars but the new bwm 340i wins in terms of interior design even if the new Audi is faster the BMW is meanner in my opinion.
@sol0matrix I have no idea what "meanner" means. Just get an M3 or M5
@@fzr1000981 lol it looks more aggressive compared to the Audi but yea your right
@sol0matrix I came from a ZL1 which would completely annihilate it so I know fast is...
As a bmw guy theyre both great for the price they are equaly as good
may you please tell us your camera tech
iPhone 14 Pro, DJI Air2s
Having driven the rs3 my dad has one I actually prefer the bmw I have a m240i xdrive and for me it's the better car nicer inside almost as quick and the b58 is for me the better engine less lag smoother and bullet proof the dazza engine sound lovely though
nice review but i dont think this is far comparison at all. if you are talking that price range the ne G82 M2 msrp is 60k.
you still have the jetta gli??
No I’ve sold it a while back
@@Sleepygarage was it good up until you sold it? how many miles and whyd you seel it?
Bmw all day
Im an Audi guy but damn, I would choose the M340i any time.
can u do a vid on lexus is 500 f sport performance premunum
Hmm maybe fall
Put better winter tires on the BMW all season DWS 06+ then try that
I’ll give it a shot
@@Sleepygarage awesome I would love to see the video they are great all season winter tires, and they’re close when it comes to performance to summer tires as you can get from the ones I have tried
The rs3 engine is a monster put some minor mods and ud be in the 500-600 hp but u could also be leaving hypercars for dead with 60-70k in mods
Bruh 60-70k in mods would fry that 5 cylinder engine in a day
B58 is much more tunable
@@mohammaddalloul9891tell me u know nothing without telling me u know nothing 😂😂 typical bmw fan boy, a built daza engine pulls train lengths on super cars and leaves b58 in the dust
@@mohammaddalloul9891b58 and daza both have incredible tunability, b58 is simply just more cost effective. With the daza you’d have to upgrade the stock motor but with the b58 u have to upgrade the stock trans
I think the 340i sounds better and looks better
Volkswagen group make it soo confusing with their codes. I know the new rs3 engine code as DXHA
The hot hatches drive differently than their bigger brothers but you do sacrifice in practicality and comfort but not driving dynamics
Yes you are right about the price points of these cars. But sadly they are very trending and beloved here in Europe. In condensed and tight Cities all over France, Spain and Italy these cars are top notch for everyone who desires Fast and Practical cars, furthermore every respected person from the „Streets“ drives one of these so very many young people love these cars aswell, middle class citizen and lower class citizen make great profit combined like we can see with Hellcats and all these Cars which are beloved in the US
Try replacing a fuse in the rs3 tho
Rs3 over m340 for sure but once you get into the big boys (m3 m4) the s55 is definitely a way better car than the rs3.
That m340i in the rear view of the audi looks mean😮💨
Haha yessir
A M car is under 80k easily if you don’t spec it with anything crazy 40k more you sounds nuts
He is nuts and clueless
