A few days ago on the vlog, Daniel said he had a realisation moment where he could fold if his gut tells him to, instead of blindly calling because GTO says its the right move. I've been screaming that at his vlog for years. Fast forward a few days, and he has made some of the best lay downs poker has ever seen en route to winning the toughest bracelet in poker.
Also, it shows what this man means to poker when so many pros were congratulating him on socials this morning, no other player gets that level of praise from other players. Congrats Dnegs, very much deserved.
I think he used to play that way, but through the endless hours of study GTO gets buried so deep that it's easy even for someone as good and intuitive as Daniel to fall into that as the only solution. When very clearly it is not, and those very chips he saved were the difference in being able to grind a short stack for so long until it finally turned his way. Absolutely legendary performance, and a well deserved victory...

Congratulations Daniel. I watched all of your blogs during this WSOP Tournament when a lot of things weren't going your way. There were days where it didn't seem like you could catch a break and I was worried about the beating your were taking day after day but then came the $50,000 9 game tournament against the best players in the world and you played small ball and made some fantastic folds based on your deep understanding of the hands being played and the personalities of the players, as well as hitting some heart stopping final cards like the seven card straight that was completed with a jack as the last card dealt. Amazing. And you just kept grinding, relying on other players to knock each other out until you were playing heads up and in the end everything worked out for you. You made this Canadian very happy. But it's time for you to get back into the gym so that you will get fit for the rest of the year. These marathon tournaments really take it out of every player. Health is one of the keys to victory. No more peanut butter and jam waffle sandwiches. Love you brother.

Dnegs is the absolute man and the face of poker. I met him and he took his time to take a photo with me. He’s exactly what he portrays. I’m so fucking pumped that he won this just to cement the fact that this man is a poker LEGEND! Congrats Daniel! You are the fucking MAN!! Oh, the heads up was insane to watch. Like 5 lead changes both players on the ropes at different points. Daniel played perfect.
That was a classic, so many ups and downs and up from 400k was awesome (and a little nerve wracking.) Daniel and Ivey next to each other for that bit of time, was thinking of two old buddies who have been sitting in Vegas playing for years and here they are having a few laughs and enjoying the hunt for this title. That was priceless. So happy that Daniel took it down, nice to see Amanda share the moment, best of luck going forward Daniel. Play like you did the last few days and number 8 will come along soon.

What a 5 day battle, unimaginable how hard this event is to play, I am stressed out just rooting for him for 5 days. I really thought he was going to bust out when he got down to under $400K in chips, but he made an unbelievable comeback right away to be over $3 million in chips 3 or 4 hands later. Congrats to Daniel!

i'm not a Negreanu fan but he deserved it. He folded boat against a higher boat to Brewer in PLO at the last 2 tables and was very disciplined when he was down to only a few big bets. Well played.
