I’m currently writing two books, (one i haven’t even started yet but have SO many ideas for!) and it is SO important to put in the work in many ways. For example, make important scenes built up and loong, and keep filler scenes small and variating! But all in all, just learning about your characters and world and story in the beautiful form of writing (and mildly drawing) is an exciting and rewarding journey for the writer! Yes! I agree! I have outlines for my book and an outline for basically ever chapter, so I am able to get to main points rather easily...but when I didn't do that....gosh dang, it was hard lol
Okay... your story idea sounds so interesting! The internal conflict and character motivations are so fascinating and intense. From the little I know, I can already see how they shape your main character's actions and drive the story, which is a sure sign of an awesome book. Gah, I really want to know more! I'm sorry you've had bad luck between friends and writing before. What we write is a piece of us, and sharing makes us vulnerable. What some of your former friends said/did after you showed them your work was wrong, and I admire the strength you demonstrated by continuing to write regardless. You have so much passion, and that's amazing! Your old stories sound really intriguing! Also, looking back on old righting is so real. In my younger years, I wrote a "book" (it was actually only like 12,000 words) about unicorns taking down an evil dictator, where the main character became an alicorn at the end. It was heavily inspired by My Little Pony and Harry Potter. Speaking of Harry Potter, I also wrote half a fanfiction where he was sorted into Slytherin, then met this Ravenclaw girl named Eva Brooks whom he immediately developed a crush on. She was also secretly Voldemort and Bellatrix's daughter, who was being forced to spy on Harry, though she really just wanted to be his friend, and a blatant self-insert that looked exactly like me. The art in this video is so good! The first piece looks like a painting, and the lighting is gorgeous. The character's dress is also so detailed and pretty!!! The dynamic, interactive poses on the second piece is spellbinding, especially combined with the circular lighting that enhances the compassion between the two characters. I also love the color palette and character design in the third drawing.
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH IMMA CRY- Yeah, honestly lol Thing is, we are still friends (They have matured lol) You make it sound like I was so strong for continuing when in reality I just still wanted to write lol- oh my gosh, self-inserts that that main character has a crush on are cannon events lol- Thank you SO SO SO SO MUCH!
Not me failing to finish a single book lol- I haven’t finished watching bc I’m drawing like I’m running out of time- Yeah, I’m officially in the People Whose Thoughts Are Replaced With Hamilton Lyrics lol But it sound so amazing!!! These are the best ways to start, with the crappiest plot ever written (pointedly ignores the fourth grade creative writing I found the other day) and all the tropes, and so heavily influenced by favorite books that it’s practically fanfiction. There’s just So! Much! Room! To! Grow! Also epic art holy muffincakes I have not written as much as you, really only three stories and they all sucked (we writers don’t pop outta the womb, people) but I’m slowly working up to a rewrite for Flowerdeer’s story. I don’t have intentions of publishing at this point, so really it’s just something that brings me joy to work on, and I’m withholding all the lore for no reason except the fact that it’s too much fun watching y’all guess lolll The story I’m most excited about needs to be drawn, my shrooms, I’ve had a burst of inspiration lately and have been having fun world building. I’m taking it slowly, letting this build up, because I’ve found that when I sit down for a while to nail things out, I get burnt out. Warrior Cats fanfiction. Yay. Those were the first books I finished writing. It makes me so angry when people are mean to my friends either in the past of currently and for some reason it’s been happening a lot lately. I’ve now stepped into the roll of confronter and like I wont hesitate to stand up for or stand up with someone who’s being mistreated :’( so if u ever need me summon me with some pink lemonade and markers and I’ll teleport there and we can team up like the superhero’s in the movie and draw people getting married to a warrior cat or something UwU I’m sorry your friends were mean to you Storm (I had a similar experience with my writing and a friend who would edit and mess with my writing whenever I was offline) but just know that a person who acts like that? Their opinion doesn’t matter unless it’s asked for and constructive. You are an INCREDIBLE writer and artist and even the way you speak shows that.

Literally trying to figure out if I was the friend who “fixed” your book or not because that feels like a think 6th/7th grade me would do, but I don’t recall doing it. So if it was me, I sincerely apologize and if it wasn’t me, I’m sorry that happened, that sucks, but also, that’s just how it do be when you ask for constructive criticism from a middle schooler. (I asked my cousin to read my book “back in the day” and his critique after probably reading a few sentences was that I needed to use “an” before nouns that started with a vowel lol) Also plz don’t diss the fanfiction, my pride and joy that has gotten me to write hundreds of thousands of words lol Lowkey writing “character who’s depressed” like you’re so real for that. I had two characters in mind who I hardcore shipped, with the girl who was my self insert projection character and the guy who gets severely depressed (ofc after self insert character went on her character arc). Literally was planning fluff hurt/comfort between the two of them, because her angst was being needlessly hard on herself and his angst was being depressed.
