Darrel, for all the care you are taking I can't believe the amount of times you touch the surface of the paper! It doesn't matter how clean you think your hands are, your fingers will always deposit oil and even sweat that you cannot remove.
OMG Darrel! Thank you so much! I am learning an amazing amount from your videos. I have been doing portraits in graphite for a long time. Sometimes they are good and other times not! Now I understand why! Thank you so much for the information! Maybe now I can do better.
I just found your channel and enjoy it immensely and learning a great deal. New subscriber. I noticed you put your hands on the paper a fair bit. Some people claim the oils from your hands can change the values on your paper. Would you agree or discuss your thoughts on that? Thank you for all the information and help you convey.
Feel like this should be called light placement. Not being rude. Just seems you talked more about placement of lights then paper. I just picked up this paper and had some issues with it. Was looking for tips on it.

He has another video that explains the paper perfectly!
Also, he was explaining the paper and light and not making a actual portrait!
What brand pencil is that white pencil?
They are Prismacolor pencils but he has them colored for the different lead types for his drawing classes.
