These unedited old videos are funny the way you need to sit through the cleaning up and drying process 😀🤣

Beautiful techniques and lovely colors. I really enjoy the versatility of the grunge paste and paints that you use for doing your technique videos. Wonderful to watch you create. Thanks for sharing your techniques.

As always Leandra, you are inspirational! Love this one .....no Grunge Paste yet unfortunately but hopefully it will work with something similar. My recent Fresco paints purchase is proving to be a great success....they're lovely to work with, of course I need more colours....in fact I really NEED them all! Thanks again for this demo. Judy

Do you have the stencils that you used in this lesson?

Harlequin, circle grid and I think the square is mosaic tiles. They are generally in stock, but if not check back in a few days as I have an order that should arrive Monday/Tues

I tried this recently, but I was using Dylusions Inks and Glimmer mists sprays I made myself from Re-inker and Pearl-Ex and also liquid water colours and Pearl-Ex - but no matter how much I sand the texture paste down the colours are still there. Is this because you HAVE to use Acrylic paint for colouring the piece? Or is it that you HAVE to use Grunge Paste? (I used Galeria modelling paste) Or both?
I've now cut myself a square stencil and have used this on a new piece of work: a book cover, I've also used various stamps in the paste, round postage stamps as suggested, but I found the stamps I made myself by carving into erasers worked best. Others didn't release too well (yes, I used water.)
I'll have to try Grunge paste if that's the only one that works.

Fran OnTheEdge Hi Fran First of all, most texture pastes are quite plastic as they are generally made with a gel type base, so sanding them is not as simple as sanding GP which is a plaster product which produces fine chalk-like dust when sanded. Its possible the GP is totally different to what you are using. I'm not sure having not used Galleria before.
Second, Dye inks will stain/ bleed into a texture paste and totally take over as they are an ink. When you work with paint it tends to layer on top and will not stain in such an invasive manner, so why don't you try making sprays from watered down acrylic paint.
Third, re stamping into texture. If the stamp is too dense it will simply displace the texture leaving a gluggy mess, so a more ideal stamp style in fine detail that can cut through and not displace so much product. After all where does it have to move to when you squish down on it? I find the thinner the layer of texture paste prior to stamping, the sharper the stamped result for the same reason.

PaperArtsy Thank you very much indeed for a very informative and comprehensive reply.
I have done the front cover in Galeria Heavy Carvable Modelling paste, but I haven't painted or otherwise coloured it yet. I will do the same sort of thing on the back cover - but this time using Grunge Paste.
I will colour the entire cover with acrylics instead of inks. Yes I had been thinking I should try mists made with acrylics (I'd avoided this since I'd heard that acrylics can clog a spray nozzle) but I have a few bottles left unused. Thanks for the tip about using a THIN layer of Grunge Paste. I had been adding more and more modelling paste when stamping into it failed.
However I had tried a very detailed stamp and a more blocky stamp - and the blocky one worked best for me! Go figure!

PaperArtsy The GP feels much stiffer once dried on the page, while the Heavy Carvable Modelling paste feels still bouncy even days after it dried, so I'm convinced it's plastic based as you said.
Unfortunately the tip about using a thin layer of GP has not worked - all that happens then is that a large area of naked canvas is revealed when you try and lift the stamp off the paste - with or without water, and it doesn't seem to matter if it's a detailed stamp or a blocky one - except that my own carved stamps seem to work better than bought ones - but even that's temperamental.
I haven't sanded off yet... as I still need to add another layer of paint - and I'm going to Birds in the Barn today where I hope to buy one of those packs of new fresco paints, and meet Lin Brown. Looking forward to it.
I think leaving the GP to set up a bit is what helps most, but timing is really important then, leave it too long and you've missed your window of opportunity.

Fran OnTheEdge Great to see you today, hope the GP demos assist you with your stamping into it issues! I'm sure you will conquer it!
