Kaizo Emerald is a Pokémon mod that is unanimously voted as one of the hardest mods ever created. Let's see how well I can maneuver through it.

The hack goes about difficulty in a much smarter way than most hacks just inflating the level curve. Setup moves and field effects are nearly nonexistent, EVs have been excised and a lot of movesets were carefully selected to work with the AI.
I don't like how held items are difficult to farm.
Your opponent can have infinite lum berries while you have limited resources. It is hard to find good held items such as leftovers.
The gym leaders use legendaries and have optimized moveset. While you can't access legendaries until post-game.
Not to mention the cave ice puzzles. Gotta love them.
Sure the game is difficult but not a fun one in my opinion. It is however fun to watch though.
@@DisgustedDisgustingDude_DDD true. Your set-up moves are also heavily restricted so you can't even fully set-up while your opponent is just stacking sword dances all round. The elite 4 is also downright unfair with almost all of them being hyper-offensive teams, play the wrong mon and see every mon get one-shot. And that accursed mega-mega sableye... that was a nightmare to face.
This is also why I much prefer Radical Red over Emerald Kaizo. In terms of difficulty, Kaizo is definitely more annoying but gameplay-wise, Radical Red takes the cake.
@@FrenchDinosaur I remember seeing all the broken Ubers and full spectrum of Gen 8 mechanics fielded by the game getting completely destroyed by a Gen 3 Crocune
@@FrenchDinosaur yeah, it's not for everyone. That said, with the ai being as predictable as it is restrictions like those are the only way to get to that next level of difficulty

It should be noted that Pokemon Challenges also reset several dozen times before the 1st & 3rd gym leaders because not getting what he needed was essentially a run killer.
This game ain't fun to nuzlocke, plain and simple.
@@MugenHeadNinja that’s the whole point of the game though😂 it’s to challenge those who are experienced and Jan aka Pokémon challenges enjoyed the game through the nuzlockes. It’s an extremely challenging game that makes nuzllockes truly fun

if he really is planning on completing this, overleveling can only get u so far, E4 and champions all have lvl 100 Pokes with nasty AF skill sets and items u need Godlike knowledge of the game to pass, going blind is a death sentence
Honestly? It always kind of makes me die a little inside when I watch somebody play a game and they just overlevel in order to get around the difficulty. Thankfully, emerald kazio has some other plans later down the line

It is nice to see a casual play through from someone that isn’t part of the nuzlocke community of this game
ALLOT of pokemon and I do mean ALLOT of the got buffs through stat increases or type changing. there's also much more obvious changes like some trainers having competitive move sets and abilitys on there Pokemon. just figured I would put this here for those who don't know about these features in Emerald Kaizo.
Some moves even have decreased pp.
I used Chimeco in my playthrough and "recover" & "safeguard" have like only 3 pp.

I wouldn't say there's a lot that got buffed, I'm fairly certain it's only like 50 or so. And there are no pokemon that got their types changed.
@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 that's not what Pokemon challenges said in his video on how he Successfully nuzlocked the video. and with how he is one of if not the best nuzlockers in the Pokemon community I think he is probably got the thing more or less figured out for the most part.

Hey Joey, there is the possibility of getting infinite rare candies via a mod. I'm not saying you have to do this, but consider it something that can be done to lessen the grinding time (Elite 4 is Level 100 and the game gets extremely hard; there might be a chance you need to grind up a bunch of different pokemon and it's more interesting watching actual gameplay instead of 3 hours of getting a single pokemon to lvl 76). Just something to keep in mind!
Yep, since EV training is not a thing in emerald kaizo so there is even more reason to use rare candies to reduce grinding time
In kaizo afaik in evergrande city you can buy almost unlmitied rareandies
@@exia0616 I didn't know that actually. But Evergrande City is really late into the game. I think that IF Joey or someone else decides to skip grinding (either all together or maybe later into the game), it would be better to do it earlier than at the finish line. Maybe it's fine to grind until Wattson, but after that, without some key strats or mons, it's really hard (I know that early game in Kaizo is the hardest thing until you reach Maxie 2, but Joey isn't Nuzlocking, so there's a big difference there). There was a reason why Pokemon Challenges reset a lot of attempts after getting unlucky with his encounters after attempt 77; it's just so damn hard.
Btw Joey. Your Sunkern is holding a Sunstone. You can evolve it into a Sunflora at your leisure!
yeah most EK streamers hack in rare candies to reduce grinding time as well but most dont because they always have level caps
@@mega_lapras6047 That is very true. I wonder though. Joey doesn't strike me like the type of guy who would just level all of his mons to 100 to just "blast" through the game. He overleveld slightly for Roxanne and still had a lot of trouble, since he doesn't seem interested in running the most optimal strat for that fight, which is completely fine! I'm actually really interested to see him play the game with pokemon he likes and to observe how far it gets him. There would also be the possibility of the mods or himself to look up level caps, but I don't think that's necessary. I think a general range of levels (like if the level cap would be 56, the range would be like 54 to 60) would be totally fine the way he's playing right now, which is just for fun.
This was one of the most hilarious streams to sit back and chill and chat in. It was entertaining the whole way through. Kudos to you Joey. Can't wait to see what happens next.

The reason duskull was fast is it is using shadow sneak ghost type quick attack which is a priority move

I wish Joey would try Radical Red, too. It's also in the "difficult ROM hacks" category but is not as BS as emerald Kaizo, at least I think. It also has much more QoL and all-around better gameplay than Kaizo. Pretty challenging as well so it can be good content.
While I do agree, Radical red can be a bit hard to get into with all the Pokémon changes. Additionally, it does involve a fair bit of bs, just less than EK. The EV’s needed later in the game also make it less accessible to casual players. Still easier than EK imo tho.
Joey was also overlevelling and Radical red has level caps.
@@campbelldare5717 radical red has a minimal grinding mode which eliminates EVs completely.

for those curious, afaik the least # of attempts for someone to complete a nuzlocke of this game is 4 attempts, by Drxx, and his run was absolutely wild
Hope Joey does Pokémon Unbound one day. It can be pretty hard as well(maybe not as hard as this), but it's just such a polished game.
Unbound has a difficulty level so you can adjust it. I currently am messing around in it so I’m on the easiest difficulty which consists of no EV count nor lvl caps. It’s a lot easier than the other “Pokémon challenge” rom hacks 👍
You should try out Radial Red as well! It's pretty much the exact same as Emerald Kaizo, except for Fire Red

I grew up with PKMN Yellow!!! :D I was 10. My favorite game(s) are Platinum, Gates To Infinity, Red Rescue Team, and Silver.
At a little over 3 minutes I knew exactly how the next 16 minutes of this video would go. And this was due specifically to the one quote “i’ll do my best to avoid grinding” in emeral kazio

Replacing the sunkurn was not a great move, it's genuinely one of the best pokemon for the early game since it has the only stat boosting move in the game and has giga drain.
fr, plus they have 100% chance to come with sun stone, so you start with 105 special attack insane

To be honest, doing a hardcord nuzlocke with emerald kaizo is near impossible. But a regular nuzlocke is possible but you'll need to grind a lot
lol megachaddy really pulling through for these part of the games, hopefully he keeps up the good work for the next challenges

Gen 5 was my first Pokémon game. Pokémon White version specifically
Dragonball, used to be great as a kid, tried watching it again and it's the slowest anime of all times. 5 minutes into an episode does it finally get through the intro and recap, then it's Goku or Veggy powering up and screaming for 5 minutes with a few blasts, Bulma chatting with the boys for a min and mom worrying, then another powerup and NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL.....
Honestly, I think the best way to experience Dragonball is reading the original manga. If you really want an animated version, you can watch Kai which is basically a re-cut version of Z, but I'd still recommend the manga over it

Silver was my 1st, then I backtracked to Red, skipped RS, Emerald, Diamond, Firered, Platinum and then I followed order they released in onwards, stll haven't played RS to this day... probably inferior to Emerald and the remakes anyways.
