Hiking with a SHELTIE. Are they the BEST hiking dog?! Considerations and Observations

I would be honored with your subscription. Hiking with a Sheltie is such a treat! Seriously she puts a smile on everyone's face as they hike past, and most people want to pet her. Please let people know that this is a Sheltie and not a "mini Collie". Spread the word!
I go over some considerations in the video, and I'd say one of the biggest is to make sure and manage their temperature. Especially living in the South, a Sheltie's coat can get pretty warm. I would not recommend adding a carrying vest to this breed, especially since their coat is so beautiful!
Because Sheltie's are herding dogs they will stay near you... or other humans. Make sure your Sheltie doesn't wander off with a friendly group and start herding them too!

She’s beautiful. My border collie mix is the same. Loves people, not so much other dogs. I carry a backpack with me containing ”dog care” items (collapsable bowl, water bottles, poop bags, etc.). I should bring a brush since she is like Velcro with debris.
