@@pottaichi yeah, strats are just better for versatility. The can be used for any genre so can teles but the strat has more options when you look at the pickups and tone settings
just about trade in a clarinet, trombone, amp, piano keyboard, and electric guitar bc i need a new piano and hopefully i have enough for a new electric too bc rn mine is a cheap ass fender star caster with a sunburst finish and my amp is a (something about a spider?) 6th series and i just found out both my amp and guitar are notoriously awful

Teles are a good choice for a first. I would also recommend a strat with a humbucker pickup

I've never owned a telecaster, is there no way to plug in a amp? Is it just pure sound? Or am I blind.

There's a huge difference... Squier's are great for the price though.
A good setup will make any guitar sound and feel great no matter the price point.
