  • We Try Indian Street Food in MUMBAI. In this video our local guide, the lovely Kavita, shows us the best Indian street food in Mumbai. Since coming to India we have loved the food so we reached out to Kavita to ask could she give us her inside information on the best places in the city of Mumbai. Truth be told, we were a little apprehensive about trying Indian Street Food but thankfully Kavita made those worries disappear. We cant thank her enough for all she did for us during the tour. So Kavita, if you are reading this, Thank you so much.

@@amitkolhe4155 Hi Amit! Great list! We lived in Mumbai for two years. My thoughts on your list:
      1. Love Elco! My fav pani puri, and the BEST ever sev puri, is from a guy up in Pali Naka near Janata.
      2. Haven’t tried this particularly pav bhaji but Chowpatty pav bhaji is one of Pete’s favs.
      3. Bademiyan is a must! Nothing beats eating off the trunks of cars late at night.
      4. Leopold- yes, a classic! Slightly overrated imo. But a nice spot for a pint when in Colaba.
      5. I don’t know this one! Will have to try!
      6. Ordered in from Persian Darbar quite frequently. Agree on the biryani.
      7. Mahesh! SOOOO good. I prefer this to Trishna.
      8. Been to Bandra’s Mini Punjab.
      9. Britannia! The BEST. I haven’t been since Boman passed. Last time I was there was Feb 2019 :(
      10. Don’t know this one! Will have to try!
      11. Mohammed Ali Road is my FAV. The chota kebab, especially! And Taj ice cream.

Pav is a adaptation of Pão (Portuguese bread) but pav is far far more better than original. On the other hand, As per locals Pav came into existence being called Pav because the dough is being kneaded by paon.

@@sriramr2437 the pav wasn't introduced via Bombay, it was introduced through a breakthrough in creating the bread for the Portuguese in Goa and when the Goans migrated to Bombay for work is when this bread became immensely popular here! That is also the reason Goans in Bombay are called Ma ka pav. It was because of the phrase in Konkani - Ma ka pav di! Which translates to - give me bread!
