If you drive 4 hours in the sun in the end they will both end up with the same degree inside the car? The last film basically brings heat in the car just at a slower pace but eventually it will get hot inside the car too?
I just ordered a ceramic tint for my 98 firebird. Today i read online that a real dark tint or heat resistant tint has caused t-tops/rear hatch window/windsheilds to crack in hot sunny weather. The test you did shows the "best tint" caused the glass to get so hot it cracked!!! Should we be putting this on our auto glass? I bought this type of tint because my car has alot of big curved and expensive glass, and gets hot inside. So I'm gonna have a cool interior but my glass is gonna get so hot it may crack?
Can I recommend or request, if you haven't already, could you do a "test" video with two similar (or identical) vehicles, with a test on the interior "temperatures," one vehicle with the NANOflex Premium Ceramic film and one with a "standard" film or the RETROflex film? That would be awesome to see the real world translation on how this amazing film performs in reducing temperature build-up inside the vehicle.
What dealers sell this in their shop in the Covington/Conyers area in Georgia. I can’t find any shop that sells it, or one that will put it on if I buy it myself?
@@FlexFilmPlus reflecting is the exact opposite of what is happening in the video. Ceramics are insulators, not reflective devices. That’s why when you put coffee or soup in a ceramic bowl or cup you don’t feel as much heat when you touch it. The ceramic forms a barrier between your hand and the liquid. Try the same liquid in a glass cup/bowl and you’ll see what I’m talking about. The same thing applies to cold liquids. Put ice water in a coffee cup and in a regular glass. The glass will develop condensation faster than the coffee cup. There’s a reason why it’s not smart to put ceramic film on residential windows. The non-tempered glass isn’t able to withstand all of the heat stressing going on internally. That’s what happened in the video. If the piece of glass used was tempered, you’d be able to tell because the edge would look green.

People are worrying about the glass getting hot and that being worse than if you had no window treatment on at all. Let me dispel that misconception; If you had no window treatment and all of the solar energy that was shining in your car windows was intersecting with the dashboard, seats, carpeting, etc... The thermal energy just goes in to making those items hot. In that case, all of the heat is internal to the passenger compartment, on materials that are much less tolerant to extended higher temperatures (plastics). Also, an enclosed car is like an oven, the heat just soaks in to everything and when you start your car up and the air conditioning is turned on it needs to extract all of that thermal energy out of all of those components. With a window treatment that is intercepting 50-60-70-80% of the infrared energy (like sunlight has too) the film is heating up and so is the glass. There is a big advantage to this approach, half of that hot surface is exposed to the outside of the car where the heat can re-radiate (in the infrared spectrum) back in to space or other nearby objects [radiation]. Also, just like when you have a frying pan left on a stove, there is heat rising off of the object [convection]. THe glass is bonded at the edges to the car frame (that is also half in and out of the vehicle and this leaches heat away from the glass [conduction]. That infrared heat from the lamp was an extreme you would never see on the Earth. He used that intensity to get the light sensing detector to change color. As he had mentioned, the light bulb was a 250 watt bulb. Now some Earth science; the Sun radiates the surface of the Earth with 527 watts per square meter of infrared energy(look it up). We need to apply a conversion for that roughly 6" x 6" piece of glass that is being exposed to 250 watts of infrared heat. That piece of glass is roughly .023 square meters. (1/43'rd of a square meter), at 250 watts through that sample of glass it is roughly equal to a Sunlight intensity of 10,869 watts per square meter. That is closer to that piece of glass and solar film trying to block the infrared heat on the surface of the planet Mercury. The demonstration was upscaled to get the detector film to work (like an old fashioned mood-ring), in a reasonable amount of time (seconds), using a piece of glass that is not known for its thermal durability. You are not going to blow out your car windows using this solar film, but the glass will be just as hot as touching the outside of a black painted car. (maybe 70-80c). Because the materials inside of a car are not exposed to direct infrared heat it will take much longer for them to get up to that temperature (but eventually they would all get to the same rough temperature, that will be cooler than 70-80c. Remember, only half of the car is exposed to sunlight at the same time (unless the sun is directly overhead) and even then the bottom of the car is radiating heat away, down in to the ground. It is still not a fun place to be inside of the car but you are not baking plastic until it becomes brittle and hard from the infrared, or molecularly breaks down due to the ultraviolet cracking the molecular bonds of plastics.
Thanks a lot Mr. Ralph for this informative video .. if the VLT value was greater than 80 ; does it work good also as the last glass sample !!??.. according to traffic regulations !!thx again sir ..

Hello Ralph, Great info. I did my research, there is videos on you tube showing Suntek XR+ and FormulaOne Stratos and Rayno Phantom S9 films perform the same as the Nanoflex film and block the same amount of heat. Even in one video showing FormulaOne Stratos blocking little more heat than the Nanoflex. Are they cloning your Nano carbon Film technology into their films? I'm so confused... Would you please do a comparative video for Suntek XR+ VS FormulaOne Stratos VS Rayno Phantom S9 VS Nanoflex. Thanks

I want the best ceramic tint you have and want to buy it and have it shipped to me and have a reputable installer pt it on for me. Please let me know something.

Dustin Smith I have not formally tested it yet but I was able to clear out an entire room of tinters when we compared it to Crystalline. They shook my hand and told me they were impressed. The btu meter test I performed did better than crystalline. As far as color, shrink, iradecence, and just "user friendliness"... No contest. We have a classic two ply chassis product. Crystalline aka prestige will always be a flat glass film that people are putting on cars. Our film is an automotive film.
fish bowl I just had crystalline installed. And I called the dealer back because I could feel the heat on my face from.the sun roof. And had to shut the shade. Is that normal. I think they installed wrong tint and just changed me more. I had 40% installed all around sides back and sunroof and 70% I stalled in the windshield.
I know it’s been a min since the upload of this video but could you try Pro Tec ceramic film ? It’s fairly inexpensive tint. 36inx100ft is $250. Pretty darn cheap if you ask me. I’ve asked around and apparently it keeps things really cool inside. I haven’t heard much about it until fairly recently but apparently it’s been showcased at SEMA (must mean it’s doing something right, huh ?). Thanks
Servando Castelan It is actually the same exact film as Panaflex. It just has three ceramic coating technologies and Panaflex has two ceramic coating technologies
Ive been watching your videos for about 3 weeks now and im very impressed and i have even learned a few things and ive been tinting for 12 yrs self taught. Looking forward to more... Thank you sir
That's really cool (no pun intended) My husband sent me the link & after he watched it with me at the end I told him you should have cracked an egg on the heated side of the glass.
Check with the vehicle manufacturer first. Some will say okay, some won't. Remember that piece of glass gets sun for much longer thus gets hotter than the vertical pieces. Also, have an iron clad release of liability signed by customer prior to doing the install. Simply some shares from my 30+ years of experience.
Ralph Van Pelt that’s peculiar since I recently was shown the same kind of test with heat lamp and 3m crystalline and DUB iR performed the best to what I felt on my hand against 3m premium and 3m stable but I noticed a bluish reflection on on the crystalline that I didn’t want and went with the Dub iR. Did I make a mistake? :/
No. Dun IR is a beautiful film. It does have IR performance. The IR performance is probably somewhere around 60%. There are a lot of other brands out there that perform much better for less money. The other films you mentioned were just carbon and dye.
Mario Cruz Film that cracked the glass was Nanoflex. Www.flexfilmplus.com If you want to know what the other films were please give us a call and we will tell you. Thanks for the comment.
great video support Ralph. Would sure like some guidance on what exact brand recommendation to purchase. Just starting so your years of experience would be appreciated. Let me know how to get a hold of you. Thanks!
jermzdee I'm guessing Huper for the 2nd. We use it for residential and commercial and it's fantastic, but I've heard it's not the best for auto. Price sounds about right.
So basically we learn nothing from this video... we may not find out which inexpensive brands have good quality (and no haze) and which expensive brands are crap for the money you pay for! Heck locally they charge $1000 for a tint install, and it is almost like boutique shopping across from Tesla somewhere in the southwest,..... with lotsa cactusses..... ka-ching, and the rest may get skin cancer because you cant afford descent tint! I'm gonna do it myself, but either ebay sells fake stuff like A LOT, or nobody wants to make a good price on the real stuff. And on our newest car, I paid for an install 400$ it has soap between the tint, fingers, creases, and more... and yes I did my homework, and yes it was a reputable installer with five star reviews on yelp... "paradise valley" SO... NOW... I'm gonna get my steamer out, learn all about shrinking and tinting, get a 40" x 100ft roll of something good, and keep installing it, until it is to my standards. (Which are admitted HIGH). You can't trust anyone these days, ....but yourself! Irritated, mad, and very very disappointed in tinting businesses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@FlexFilmPlus yeah... but you're a professional :o) This being said, I've watched hours and hours of videos, and I'm willing to learn and spend the time, even the shaving technique. Do you still have the sample roll deal? One of your videos features this... Panaflex, one of my kids has extreme sensitive skin and I want something good here for Arizona. I soooo regret my $400 wasted on my install I can't even comprehend how it passed? Currently 20% suntek cir all around, and as mentioned, it has white haze, soap drops between the glass and film, fingers on side windows and rear windshield and I'm talking the size of a finger, not just a tiny little tip!!! It is so bad, I do not even want the same installer to redo it. I've already purchased some tools, pressure water bottle etc... Who know, if it goes right, I might even become an installer.... THANKS FOR THE REPLY!!!!!!! i WOULD REALLY LIKE TO TRY SOME GOOD FILM!

People tinting their Porsche... most people won’t. I love how these tint guys rave about the differences when in an environment like Arizona for example, this will hardly make a difference...
In 20 years you never went outside with a panel of limo tint and tested it for heat transmission? You never sat in a car with limo tint on a sunny day? Also, films don't absorb the energy -- they reflect it. Any thin film that absorbs energy over the course of a minute will build up heat and become red hot.
Have you ever put on a black shirt and stood in the sun? How about a white shirt? Could you tell any difference? Which one do you think absorbed energy and which one reflected it? Think about that...
@@FlexFilmPlus the tint doesn’t reflect the heat either. It absorbs it. That’s why the glass got so stressed from the heat that it cracked. That’s the whole point of ceramics, they are insulators. Insulators don’t reflect, they store and create a boundary.
This is ridiculous. There is a big difference between thermal radiation (as from a heat lamp just inches away) vs light transmitting heat through a piece of glass. Unless you're traveling through a forest fire, you are never going to get enough heat on the surface of the glass to radiate to the detector. The proper test would be in sunlight with a control for ambient temperature. All that matters is heat transferred through light, not the R value!
I have no idea what you just said. Not sure what planet you are from but on Earth if we leave a car in the sun, it will get hot to the touch. Doesn't the word thermal mean heat? How can light transmit heat? Light is only solar energy.
"If a little bit gets through you'll feel a little bit on your hand. If alot gets through you're going to feel alot on your hand" you talk to fucking much lol
What would be the purpose of putting an educational video on here without including the necessary info needed for the viewers to make a informed choice? My guess is you don't want to disturb the big names because you have some sort of dealings with them. If you're going to praise/critique a product then include the name, otherwise the video is useless really.
you say you " dont know how they are getting away with it" easy ... people like yourself ..that have the evidence and the name of the companies wont tell us the names ...so then we go and buy their products...so YOU are part to blame ....think about it
So you have a "world class" tint, that gets so hot, it breaks normal glass. What about kids playing in the back touching the tinted windows? Nice trip to the Emergency Room there guy.

The btu meter test I performed did better than crystalline. As far as color, shrink, iradecence, and just "user friendliness"... No contest. We have a classic two ply chassis product. Crystalline aka prestige will always be a flat glass film that people are putting on cars. Our film is an automotive film.
Ralph Van Pelt thanks for the reply.
BS,crystalline has better heat rejection than your film, and a higher TSER
fish bowl
Ok. Thanks for the comment.
fish bowl I just had crystalline installed.
Thanks
How is that different than panaflex?
also can you install that in windshield since it get too much sun exposure?
Servando Castelan
It is actually the same exact film as Panaflex. It just has three ceramic coating technologies and Panaflex has two ceramic coating technologies
Hello Ralph i order the film with the heat lamp bundle online i wanted to know if i can keep the heat lamp and return only the film
Servando Castelan
Are you kidding?
I will be calling and getting setup at flex film soon
Thank you.
Ive been watching your videos for about 3 weeks now and im very impressed and i have even learned a few things and ive been tinting for 12 yrs self taught.
Looking forward to more...
Thank you sir
Jeffrey Mcleod did you get the name ??
@@simplybuilt_1708 nope
Great video and demonstration just cause it's dark doesn't mean it's keeping out heat...
Why are you not saying the name of the film????
So you will call me and ask.
@@FlexFilmPlus no i was hoping you would have just said the name of the inferior brand.
Dub IR 20
@@FlexFilmPlus thank you! Very informative video
That's really cool (no pun intended) My husband sent me the link & after he watched it with me at the end I told him you should have cracked an egg on the heated side of the glass.
Yeas we need names and so on please
Dub IR 20 was the film I compared Nanoflex with. Nanoflex was the film that cracked the glass.
Hay ralph was all so wondering why you would not put it on a sun roof window if it has such good heat rejection ???? tks
Have you tried DUB iR film?
Shane Tillekeratne
Yes. It is the film in the video that did not work very well.
So the nanoflex what would be the IR performance % on that if the DUB IR is around 60%?

This guy has a passion for tint, Great video 👍💥
I want to know what that film was at the end that busted the glass lol id order some like yesterday lol

great video support Ralph. Would sure like some guidance on what exact brand recommendation to purchase. Just starting so your years of experience would be appreciated. Let me know how to get a hold of you. Thanks!

Thanks Ralph. I’ll text during weekday so I don’t bother u on a Sunday.
Great video & demonstration.
Your Videos are OUTSTANDING!
One of the most unhelpful videos ever created on window tint.
I had a dyed film person tell me that also.
Burn! 🔥😄
Do you have film like that that would go on residential
Santana Moss huper optik does commercial and residential
Suntek
3M
MotoShield Pro
That is the order I am guessing.
jermzdee I'm guessing Huper for the 2nd. We use it for residential and commercial and it's fantastic, but I've heard it's not the best for auto. Price sounds about right.
Absolutely amazing
I get it chief let’s get this demo going 😴😴😴
I liked it. Thanks
"paradise valley"
SO...
I tinted my own car. Turned out perfect.
@@APPLEtv4VIERACAST did you end up installing window film yourself? How did it go? BTW I’m in AZ too and I’d love to know which shop did your tint so I can avoid it like the plague.
@@jonathansparrow7336 not yet, however I’m about to, I’ve been buying little by little about every pro tool out there for tinting. I’ve just had a lot of things going on lately, but with the heat back now here in AZ, I’m gonna do it probably in the next month or so.
I don’t want to bash down the place that did such a bad horrible job on my new car, but if you have the money, I can tell you to go to CACTUS TINT exit raintree of the 101 on your left side, not the cheapest, but you won’t be disappointed with the install, their installs are flawless,! If I had the funds, I would take at least my new car there. The owner is also gentle hearted and friendly! Definitely can recommend that place!
Practicing on one of my windows, I’ve done also a pretty flawless job, I use house wrapping tape, (tyvek tape) for all the seals, to keep any dust out and use glass aid tape so I never cut on the glass. I pull the seals and panels, bottom load and work slow (sadly) however meticulous. I think I’ve practiced enough to install later this month or next month officially my own tint on my cars :o) There is a satisfying feeling when you pass that blue max squeegee over the tint and admire your work :o)
great video ralph. gotta respect the way you break things down (no pun intended lol)
ps. curious to know how much that film cost. Winning

Thumb down cause you didn’t tell me the brand!:(
Looks like your glass has film on both sides.

Nope. Just on one side.
great video love it
I wanna say he didn’t name tint manufactures simply because of liability issues. I still don’t get it though.
just name the best contender
Phenomenal vid, Mr. Ralph Van Pelt. I get all of your emails yet I was on another path for a few moments so I was errant and did not watch this one when it first came out. My LOSS! Not now... I shall be giving you a call here shortly.

What is it that i did not learn ?

There was one film that blocked out more heat than the rest.
Can't believe it!
You know.... Come on man..

Know what?
1200 for tint?? Who's paying that
gabrielgalaxygh
Call me tomorrow and I will give you a long list of people
Its for the whole roll. $2/sq. ft. Your car windows don't comprise 600 square feet.
Good God what I was thinking to waste 13:34 min of my life like this damm it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I could be watching porn or something useful
Thanks for wasting your time watching my video and thanks for even wasting more time commenting.
We invite you to call our company to get the rest of the info. That is actually what we are trying to do. You do not have to over-think this...
get to the point.talk too much
This is nanoflex.
Good product.
Seen it for 90 cents a square foot for a roll.
Just sayin.
Nano ceramic
Couldn't you explain this quicker.
Yes.
Less talk
Thank you so much. Its obvious that it would be unprofessional to name the inferior products.
Its that simple.
you say you " dont know how they are getting away with it"
easy ... people like yourself ..that have the evidence and the name of the companies wont tell us the names ...so then we go and buy their products...so YOU are part to blame ....think about it
deepsquat600
If you don't call and find out, you might be part of the problem as well...
i am not in the industry ..I didnt make a video about how mine is better ..I dint say I had the names .. but was afraid to say them
