The focus actually works very well. The tip is that once you have a box on a subject, you then verify the subject by clicking the joystick button. it will then lock on the subject and it will not jump at all.

Hey! Good video. Do you tend to prefer using your Sony bodies or Panasonic/Leica bodies for most photography?

I love my S5! I would like to see how to adjust Jpeg profiles to make it see like a pleasant film simulation.

You mentioned adding a link about area focusing on a Panasonic website. I couldn’t find the link.

Here's my tip: if you set your lens to "AF" but set the camera to "MF", you can turn on both Focus Peaking (colored highlights that highlight the sharp focused areas) and MF Assist (zoomed in box) and see them in action while still being able to use AF.
I usually shoot like this so that AF quickly gets me to about where I want to be focus-wise, and then I use Focus Peaking in conjunction with MF Assist to slightly rock forward and backward to get my focus dead on exactly where I want to be. Obviously this is when I'm shooting static subjects.

Leigh, very good vid. Never thought out your number two idea. For the focusing on videos, here is a great option. Keep using continuous focus, but in your settings change the AF Custom Setting (Video) to an AF speed of +2 and the AF Sensitivity to -1. I use this on my vids and use the face detect. Works great and removes or very much minimizes the focus hunting that we often speak of in the Panasonic world. Keep up the great work.

Any tips for eye and face AF ?

  • @iammz81

Hi what is the setting I have to use for the Autofocus tracks the eye while filming. I mean if I want the camera to follow the model's eye when I move backward forward and the picture will not be out of focus? I cannot seem to get that. I have set AFC and human detect, but it does not focus automatically only if I press the shutter button halfway down. What am I doing wrong?

With manual exposure set by aperture and shutter speed, but then ISO changed to auto, the setting becomes auto exposure, requiring exposure compensation for the white wedding dress, snow scene, etc. So why not adjust the ISO as required rather than mess with exposure compensation ? Or am I missing something ?

Hi Leigh, I have a question for you. Namely, I recently purchased a Lumix S5. Mainly for filming. I like to film very much in Slomo. However, the setting of high frame rates is somehow different with Lumix than with Sony. With Sony, you just set the frame rate to 120fps, for example, and that's it. With Lumix, a framerate is also displayed in the S&Q mode. There it says either 4K25fps, 4k50fps, Fhd25fps or Fhd50fps. Which one do I choose? When I first viewed the footage, in terms of Fhd, 50fps at 120fps seemed much smoother to me than 25fps. I didn't have to do anything else with the 50fps footage in Final Cut either, as it already looked great. But my goal is to shoot scenes with talking and drone videos in 25fps and the b-roll shots in 100-120 fps. Can I still set the 25fps at 120fps and then, on the other hand, have to do something else to 50fps in Final Cut Pro?
I hope you understand what I mean.
    With kind regards
    Jimmy

Leigh, great video and tips. I am new to your channel so I will do some research on past videos. Can you tell me how you decided to use the Panasonic S series cameras primarily? It sounds like you have tried others systems as well. Is Panasonic sponsoring your reviews? Thanks.

Thanks! I don't use Panasonic as my primary system. We have several systems and use all of them. We chose to purchase this camera for a number of reasons. I actually have a review of it that explains more: th-cam.com/video/rcJ7IQaNSFU/w-d-xo.html This video was not sponsored. If any video is sponsored or if I borrow gear from companies, I say it in the video. :)

What's the best camera for adapted manual lenses: Z6, S1, or S5?

    • @samcasey5143
      @samcasey5143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

For this you might want to look into Sony E-Mount and, if you don't mind crop sensors, also MFT.
