    Great video overall! As a huge CS fan I think it’s undersold in this video the skins hold real world value. If someone purchases something, they should become full owners of it and, therefore, be able to sell it. I think it’s also similarly predatory to have rotating shop items, and items that may never come back, because it creates the FOMO gambling creates. We shouldn’t kid ourselves about the Fortnite style FOMO, especially because it is clearly a more kid friendly game (Fortnite, OW, and Val). That said, this video hit the nail on the head in all of its critiques against Valve/CS, especially crate/skins gambling. Though, an argument is to be made that, like you said with Valorant skins, the buyer knows what they’re getting into (or should). That said, Valve should do better to ensure appropriate aged people are the only ones participating in the gambling.
    Finally, it does disappoint me CS fans take things too far with their hate toward Valorant. I think it should be a meme - that is, clear and silly jokes, and both games should support each other. After all, CS fans can likely thank Valorant for pushing Valve to do more with CS. I don’t play Valorant much but will definitely support it and keep trying to heal the divide❤😂

      I actually think having the skins be worth real money only makes the issue worse. It gives people more of an incentive to gamble and "invest" thousands of dollars for a simple paint job. I’m just not that big on investments, stocks, NFTs, etc. so maybe my priorities are elsewhere. And don’t get me started on gambling and casinos. I get upset over losing $5 to a simple claw machine at the fair, let alone thousands on card games and slot machines.

    20+ year CS veteran here. Started in CS Beta-->1.6 (almost went pro, but then...adulting)--->CS:Source--->2006-->stopped gaming for a loooong time--->Got back into gaming in 2019 and discovered CS:GO. Loved it but also shocked at how much hadn't changed. Especially the terribly racist and toxic community.
    Enter Valorant in 2020. Played the beta and fell in love. I too was worried about the "magic agent ability" stuff. I'm an old school CS player! I'm used to gritty, same util for everyone, etc. However, after playing a CS:GO for about a year and noticing ways it could be improved -- Valorant did ALL of that for me.
    I didn't hate CS:GO at all. But it still had an "ancient" feel about it. Like, having to open the console and google custom commands to change certain settings? Like, I still have to do this 20 years later?? Talk about a barrier to entry for new players. 😳 And the fact that pro players were still playing at resolutions I was using in 2004 and it's STRETCHED and looks like ass? But, hey, that's what you gotta do to get better FPS and to see player models best, and be pro. Not in Val, luckily.
    Like you said in the video, Riot looked at what Valve has done poorly with CS and "fixed" it for Valorant, and added their own little twist. And they adapt and change stuff QUICK. They love the community and I'm very impressed.
    The Valorant twist of adding agent abilities was REALLY hard for me to embrace at first. But I've come to love it because it makes the possibilities and gameplay much more dynamic VS the more rigid, predictable tactics of CS (where everyone has the same abilities).
    So, I play A LOT more Val than I do CS now. I just enjoy it more. But CS is my roots and will always have a place in my heart. However, I'm stoked to play some CS2. It looks like (again), there really isn't much of a leap in gameplay beyond bullets/HEs dissipating smokes. Nothing to really shake up the meta and have players adapt and re-innovate their style/gameplay. It just feels like a rigid, SAFE update. But I'm still excited to get back on the CS train and try it out.
    I love both Val and CS equally but for different reasons. I better end this novel now. 😆 I agree with everything you said in the video. Thanks for putting this together!

    Some things to mention: It is easier to develop a e-sport scene nowadays than it was 20 or 10 years ago. E-Sport as a whole has grown a lot. CS and CS:GO grew alongside e-sport, Valorant was created in an era that already has a solid foundation for this type of competition. About the Valorant community being more open-minded than the CS community, this is easy to explain, many Valorant players came from other games, from cs:go itself, pubg, crossfire, point blank and several other fps, while cs:go there is usually an audience that has played the same game forever.
    Honestly, Valorant's franchise system is not very good in e-sport, it limits the number of teams and players because they honestly do not do shit for tier 2 competition, in CS, Valve shits on all tiers but frees companies to create their own annual circuits that are simply open to everyone with a team to participate like BLAST, DREAMHACK, ESL and IEM.

    This is comming from a mainly cs player, but there are some points I want to address here.
    Obviously CS had many years to develop and figure things out and Valorant has a lot of complexity in game balance due to the agents and obviously Valve should have supported the game way more than they did, thats not in question.
    But I feel like its not really fair to put every point CS does potentially better than valorant down because the game had lots of time. The reason is that Valorant may not have had the same amount of time but Valorant was able to take a LOT of CS established features and use those. So they already had a good base to work on, while CS especially in the competetive aspect had to build up a lot of those things first.
    I played both games a lot and I can for sure say that both are good in their own way. I personally highly prefer CS though mainly because the game has a lot more depth to it. Valorant has its abilities that give the game a lot of mechanics, but things like counterstrafing, air strafing, B Hops, spray control, etc are things CS has that give the game incredible depth and replayability. This obviously isnt for everyone but its something I highly prefer.
    My biggest point for CS though is the "potential" of each player. Whenever I play Valorant I have the feeling that the agent I picked lacks something, meaning that for certain situations I needed a flashbang, a smoke, a molly or whatever. When I pick Jett, I get smokes but no flashbangs, I think you get the idea. This means that in a certain situation I am at a disadvantage, to the point of having to win it by chance or not beeing able to win it regardless of what I do.
    In CS every player has the exact same potential, meaning that I can do the exact same play as even a pro player if I have the required skill to pull it off. I have the same equipment as anyone else on my team. Again, this is not something everyone will prefer, but its something that I highly value and that actually keeps me from really enjoying Valorant.

    • @chrzx7499
      @chrzx7499 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Afaik the "lacking something" in every agent is a very intentional choice by Riot to encourage playing more as a team rather than as an individual. So instead of you having every utility you need you might have the smokes but have to ask a teammate to flash for you, or the other way around. Or alternatively you'd have to get creative with all the other types of utility you might have. Either way that's the justification, although it's completely understandable if it just doesn't do the trick for everyone.

    • @gpfhantom1890
      @gpfhantom1890 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You see, the point falls flat, when you realize that Valorant was able to take what was already established by CSGO and improve on it, while Valve sat around doing nothing to improve the game whatsoever. Without competition, Valve got lazy and they never gave much thought into improving the game, CS2 felt like a genuine change and a push to make the game better, but so far the experience has been subpar and not what I expected, laggy ass servers, hitreg issues, among other things. On, the other hand, I haven't really had those issues with Valorant and even if I did, it was mainly due to my own network and not the servers. And Valorant is a team based game, through and through and Riot has been trying to make that happen since the game first released, balancing agents so that certain agents don't become overpowered and just do everything on their own. It's a different style of gameplay that you either get used to or you don't, which does put off a lot of players and I can understand why, it's frustrating that you have to rely on the limited amounts of utility that is provided for a certain agent, rather than just having a utility that you can purchase and use for all agents.

    • @gpfhantom1890
      @gpfhantom1890 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chrzx7499 Honestly, it also adds a level of complexity and makes players really think about the situation that they are in, if you are playing smokes only and are in a clutch situation, you have to think hard and quick to win the round, which CSGO lacks, you have smokes, flashbangs and grenades, which you can all use to try and clutch a situation, which kind of feels a bit shallow, at least to me, but at the same time, I don't really mind the style of gameplay that CS has either, it's something that's been around for a long time and it's just become a norm.

  • @Crazysheep323
    @Crazysheep323 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    As a CS player, the main reason Valorant doesn't peek my curiosity (not hating it, just not exactly interested) is the agents system. It's not because of the "magic skills" themselves or anything, but because it just reminds me of the reason I could never get into LoL, which many of my non-fps friends played and tried getting me into, and that is the plain scale of the initial learning curve to understand the game if you did not start right at the beginning with a digestable handful of characters to understand. It's not too terrible as of yet, but there is already 20+ different agents, and you need to learn how each of them work against one another, and the number's growing. By some point you get 100+ different classes, many beginning to look similar, due to lack of new ideas I suppose, but it just makes the game super hard to get into at that point, or if you decide to take a break and have to learn the game again. I know there is skill and fun to be had in this process and gameplay, but it's not something that ever interested me. CS has just a few basic guns, same util; pick your thing and you can basically come back to the game anytime, and it's virtually the same as it was. That said, I do like it when there are maps which are added/removed from rotation, because having a new map which everyone has to learn is something which boosts the experience in my personal opinion. Other than that I think the comparison is very objective and I definitely don't intend to trash Valorant as it's a well designed game and found it's generous share of players. Definately gave me more reason to try it sometime!

    I’m with you on a lot of aspects. I play both however I personally can’t stand playing the same 2 maps every single game on cs2 now just like csgo. It’s boring to me because it becomes so repetitive. However, map design, I do lean more towards cs2 for now because they have had that time. But valorant is always changing the maps after they take them out of rotation or even while in rotation. So that’s nice.
    I like cs2 in certain ways but I can’t get over having to play at 64 tick in the “NEW” cs2 after how long it’s been technically out since it’s more of an update, not a new game. You’d think they would prioritize player experience. But here we are. I also can’t stand the team killing on cs2 because people will troll on purpose after they get flustered from something that happened, and start just damaging you so you die faster, then sometimes out right kill you just because. It becomes ass and toxic.

    i have played both and while moreso playtime in cs and recently alot of CS2 i think both games are good for their audiences, valorant appeals more to a class based system and some just like the game for the artstyle, cs has always had the same skillset just varied and changed over the years, movement, everyone has the same util, economy focused (much more than val imo), the movement is my main draw to cs over all the years valorant just doesnt feel the same to me and thats okay thats why i play cs, but valorant is not a bad game because i dont like the movement, both games appeal to separate audiences and if your one of the people who can play both kudos to you! when i play valorant i have fun but then i just miss bhopping so it can be the simplest thing that drives our brains away.

    The one thing i like about csgo is that every player is the same, you dont have certain powers depending on what character you choose, the only thing that matters is how familiar you are with the game. Valorant is a different take on counter strike mechanichs which i really liked, but it hasn't stuck to me as much as cs did. But i have enjoyed both games. Yeah, there are pros and cons to the style of gameplay that Valorant has, I don't mind it, maybe because I played Apex before playing Valorant which kind of also leans into that category, but not entirely. But, it can make playing tough when playing with difficult players who don't want to fulfill their roles.

Community complained that the bassier version was too OP and stats proved that the bassier version had higher kd ratio than the other gun.

    As someone who only plays when I've free time and tried both game I prefer Valorant more than CSGO, when I played CS I feel like I always play with people that been playing the game for 10+ years and it's not really fun for me but when I tried Valorant I've got drawn in the game, while there are obvious smurfs or experienced players in Valorant there are also a lot of new players like me, I can see their levels too so I know who's a veteran and most of the time the matches are much more balanced compared to my experience in CSGO, I play in Asia so it might be a region thing. In Valorant the community is not that harsh than CS from my experience, when I was playing the game I feel like CSGO is not for casual players who just want to play the game and treat it as a game, yes I do somehow understand the toxicity in my CS matches because of course most people would not want someone who's not good at the game on their team but I don't have a lot of free time, I have my priorities in real life too and can't just sit all day and play or practice for 10 years just to be able to compete and I'm not doing that because I'm not going pro or go streaming, there are other things that I need to do or want to do aside from playing all day, I do think that both games are good even if my experience in CSGO is not that good I can say that the game is very good, while I didn't played Counter Strike/ CS that much, the game is still like a family to me because it is very famous especially in internet cafes, I can't imagine an internet cafe without someone playing it, so I hope that CS would continue to be around even in the future, but I'm also glad that there is Valorant because as a casual player it's really good to have a lot of options to play and pass the time.

      I mean Asia is also just ass at CSGO so that might be your problem bro. CSGO is far more rewarding because you put in the time to get good at it. While valorant is easier to get into, you are very quickly met with a low skill ceiling and at that point it all comes down to who has been aim training for longer and who has a better PC. I don’t understand this argument of “it’s easier to get into” yeah and guitar hero is easier than picking up an actual guitar, but since when is the easier route the better one? Why are so many valorant players scared of putting in the work to get better. You do you man but I mean it when I say that you will find CS far more rewarding and exciting in the long run, I enjoyed valorant a lot when it was in beta, but I very quickly lost any want to play it because I didn’t feel this overwhelming urge to get better, the skill ceiling is visible from the get go.

      @@cookeez7010 I agree with all of what you said and If you ask me which game is better, I'd say CSGO/CS 2, but on two conditions, only if it's free from cheaters (if you don't have prime) and a toxic community. But pointing out from my experience CS can be harsh to new players, and I know it's not their fault but the matchmaking's, it's unfair from both veterans and new players to get matched with each other and no one likes it, new players would not want to play with veterans and veterans would also not want to play with new players. That's why I prefer Valorant because of much better community and balanced matchmaking. I'm not saying that my answer is will not change, but right now in my opinion Valorant is a bit better compared to CS 2 if you're new to first person shooters or if you just want to play and enjoy the game as a game.

I hope that you don't take this personal as I'm only talking about the general community in CS and I know you're not a toxic person, for you that is already good at the game maybe Valorant is not fun maybe because it's not challenging enough compared to CS, everyone has their own reasons why they choose what to play, CS 2, it's looking very good, I hope next time my experience will not be the same as when I've tried it.

    So i have been a CS player but not as fanatic as most people, i have tried Valorant and i like it, but i gotta admit watching ohne quit the video 4 minutes in because it's not biased enough towards csgo really makes you think why people defend cs and Valve so much when Valve themselves don't care most of the time about their fans. It feels like they only care when they want more money or once in a blue moon.
    Either way nice video gotta say i agree that people should try the other game for 1-2 hours before completly blocking it out their mind and only shit-talk it, people enjoy different things and that is fine and at the end of the day competition brings innovation, if cs was the sole game on top Valve could litterly not do anything all year around (like tf2) and have people praise it while bringing in millions of dollars, having Valorant take some of the market share will hopefully bring more things to both games.

    Good video, good points. Personally I like CS just because the movement feels so much better and faster, never really liked VALORANT's base movement but its still an alright game, just not my cup of tea. As for the Riot vs Valve as a company, both have their issues and reasons for being so. Riot has the money and knows their competition so they invest heavily on new content and marketing to compete with established titles.
    As for Valve, you can't really say that they are just sitting back and watching the money roll in while doing nothing. First, CSGO's meta is well defined content wise, everytime they added a new weapon or slight price change to a gun, the meta was changed heavily. CZ pocket AK update, Revolver madness, Krieg meta. Mini AK was the best pistol in the game, Revolver could do everything and Krieg made the AK obsolete. Valve knows the thin line for updating CS, and while yes they could update the servers or make a better anticheat, they are very silent on what they are working on. Secondly, the amount of people working on a game isn't defined by the higher-ups, but the actual employees themselves. Its why TF2 updates seems like only one guy is doing it and only a handful working on CSGO while DOTA gets updates constantly and more attention is brought to Steamdeck, VR etc etc. Basically what im trying to say is we have no idea when Valve started development on CS2 and how much resources moved from updating CSGO to producing a new counter strike game. For all we know they could have been making a better anti-cheat since 2016 while developing CS2.

    • @bioethan1
      @bioethan1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I also just want to add that it also seems like it's ran by the community because, well, it is in a way. Valve cares and acknowledges the community by giving them the keys to create content, mainly skins and maps that could be added into the game. Just as the original CS was made by the Half-Life community, so too would CSGO be built and supported by it's own community.

    I know this video is a month old, but I'd like to point out that subtick 64 tick is more accurate than 128 tick.
    I prefer CS because it's a more crisp and refined game. Don't like the rng in valorant spraying, don't like the weird abilities (fine with flash/molly/smoke ones), and HATE the tagging system. If you get touched for 1hp in valorant your character suddenly can't move an inch. No possibility of getting away.

    I played valorant for about a year and a half and I quit a few months ago. Recently I have gotten into cs and I already like it so much more than valorant. I feel like cs is more simple and straight forward than valorant. in cs it relies on aim but in valorant it relies on tactics and ability knowledge. Like you could be a great aimer but don't know how to use abilities then you would be screwed in valorant. Also I feel like valorant is overwhelming because you got to do all these stuff with your abilities and dodge or play around the enemies abilities where in cs, you just aim and shoot with some positioning and utility knowledge. Overall I just think cs is better than valorant. Oh yeah I also forgot the skins. Valorant skins have way too much going on while cs is more simple. And to all the people saying it costs hundreds of dollars to buy knifes and stuff like that, you can sell it back when you don't want to. I personally spent about $150 on Valorant skins that I can never get my money back. Also what if I don't want to play fracture so I can just pick my own map that I can play?
    Ok, that might of sounded bias to cs so here are some good things of Valorant. The maps, and the community is just a little bit better if not the same.

    I play csgo and I have no idea why anyone would spend 1,000 dollars for a knife on either game when you can save it for real things. If I opened a case and got a fade karambit or whatever I would probably just sell it for some real money.

    Theres a few things that made me upset while watching this video.
    First skins, while it wont change anyones opinion on which game is better, you can buy skins for free in csgo, because you get a weekly case you can sell and buy cheap skins. All my guns in cs have skins i genuinely think are some of the best skins even though its like 2 dollars in total. You never have to gamble.
    Next is the esports scene. Csgo's esports scene is where most of valves attention has been. I get it that csgo has been building up for 20 years but even at the start of it it was much more hype than the valorant e sport scenes now.
    Third is valves attention to csgo. People often trash valve for not taking care of cs, but in reality, cs has been up and running for 20 years. Every update matters so they take it extra slow and try not to break the game. Thats why i think cs is so popular even today, cause they dont rush to solve problems, they do it slowly and well. Yes i know problems like the negev and the nova/xm1014 exist but there are plenty of other problems they are trying to fix.
    Last is anti cheat. I remember someone explaining why valves anticheat is better. In short, valve is using ai to detect when someone is cheating based off the way they play instead of what they have in their pc. Its a much more time resistant anti cheat, because you never know how cheaters can get past the anti cheat, and you would constantly need to upkeep an anticheat software that looks into your pc files. But valves ai detection is better because it doesnt matter how the player cheats, he will be noticed, though not all cheaters will be detected.
    All in all, what im trying to say is valve needs to keep their house of cards from tumbling so they cant rush updates or stuff like that. Also about the 64 tick thing, its because a lot of the cs community plays on crap pcs so valve needs the game to be as efficient with memory and cpu as possible for those players.
    But great video :) i liked it

      @@CR0WYT Everytime I launched Valorant I got "The driver cannot load because it is incompatible with a Windows security mitigation called Hardware-Enforced Stack Protection. You can disable this security mitigation by clicking the Disable button below and rebooting the device. However, doing so will downgrade the security of your device."

      @@HellSpawnRulerOfHell never had that in either Windows 10 or 11. Maybe you installed something or enabled a setting you just forgot about and Valorant is conflicting with it. Base Windows should not restrict you from playing Valorant.

    EU val is a lot chiller and usually has a good spread of nationalities. Playing CS in EU (talking about north west) is shit, everytime i play its with screaming russians. maybe it is just my experience but so far I have never ran into e daters or "strange" people on Val. My only bad experience with Val was when i first started and got slated for never using abilities. Take my opinion as you will as I play and love both games but the community portion of the video confused tf out of me

    about the community:
    the best community in Minecraft
    but to be serious, for me it's just unplayable on high ranks in CS, like 2k elo on faceit. people think of themselves as the kings of the world and they treat anyone else like shit. i haven't played valo with high rank players, so can't really tell, but for my region (Russia) valorant is better, people there is much more kind
