Concise, Precise, on the point, interesting surprise golden nuggets now and then and one of the best voice-over audio recordings on the TH-cam. I wished all technical tutorials follow this example. Thank you.
Awesome tutorial! I love how many ways there are to do things with fusion. I think my favourite way to make the bow tie would be to use the centre rectangle tool to create a 2x4 rectangle and then the diagonals fusion automatically draws for you
i am so glad i stumbled on your channel, i learned more here in 2 videos, than all other i watched, i am still very new to fusion, but managed to draw a roller ball bearing, a needle bearing with a seal, and a gear already.... cant wait for my next chalange, and then at some point a project of some sort
Great information and well presented. Just fell off my chair with the line functions . This is a good help to learn Fusion 360 program.Cheers from Australia
This is the kind of info I love! I have basic knowledge and experience with F360 and these kind of details are the things that were not taught in a beginners course. Thank you for sharing! I would to see more videos going into depth on some of the features inside F360.
As a raw beginner in CAD I just wanted to say thank you very much for posting this clear and excellent tutorial - I am subscribed and will work through all your videos. Pete
Peter A Hi Peter. Thanks for the kind words and for subscribing. I’m always looking for ideas so if you have something you want to see, be sure to let me know.
Ages ago I remember seeing somewhere how to draw lines perpendicular to circles, but it's been bugging me for weeks because I couldn't remember how it was done. Thank you so much.
Thanks. Yeah, you may have seen something similar before haha Hopefully I can get these out on more of a consistent schedule. I'm working on getting a pipeline built up again so they can be scheduled.
Definitely just leveled up my sketching. 10:30 that is an awesome tip. Suggestion: The highlights you list in the video conclusion would be helpful in your video text summary. Solid video.
I would stick with option one and use the Symmetry tool instead of drawing the bottom line @3:18 But if I was in AutoCad, then I would use the method you highlighted in this video, since it is utilizing the parametric tools!
Hi Rob. Glad it was useful. I'm always looking for ideas of what people want to see. You can comment on a video or send me an email info@mechancialadvantage.com
Keith Oliver That should work. Should even be able to do trigonometry functions. If you can write the operation properly, Fusion can do the math. Thanks for stopping by.
That's what I like to hear. Thanks for letting me know. I just want to make videos that have the content that people want to watch. Thanks for the comment.
@@MechanicalAdvantage I think you might have, I know at least some other people have in other videos, just wanted to help, especially since Autodesk changed some things with Fusion in 2020
Hey ! that was a good video but I have small doubt about how to coincident circle and a rectangle . Probably you are supposed to join two points but how is it possible this way ......
good info! What about drawing multiple lines consecutively with different (non coincident) points vs chaining a line? Do you have any tricks for that? Esc exits the line tool which is not ideal for quickly drawing consecutive lines. Alternatively double clicking or single click on the green check mark will terminate the line without chaining and without exiting the line tool. I have also mapped a button on my spacemouse to double click to terminate my lines. All of this works ok, but I would prefer to be able to toggle the line tool between chain and no chain somehow by a modifier key or some other method. Also, I wish there was an easy way to just extend a line to be longer but often there is an automatic constraint that gets set that won't allow you to drag the endpoint longer. Something like a modifier key to override or delete the constraining constraint would be handy (albeit with risks) in many situations, or maybe a modifier key to prevent automatic constraints from being set (e.g. drawing a horizontal or perpendicular line without automatically setting that constraint).
Mechanical Advantage I'm trying to create (draw) a mesh then roll it up let say 10" radius with a 110 deg. rolled angle not 360 deg. Please help, thanks
After you do the first trim in the video, is there a way to measure the circumference of that shape?? I’d like to 3d print a TPU “tire” to go around that shape but need to know the length band I’ll need.
I just gave it a shot and there doesn't appear to be a way to measure the length in a sketch. However, if you make a solid out of the sketch using a command like Extrude, you can start the measure command and click on the face and the measure dialog box will show you the loop length.
Nice vid..but I do alot of sheet metal parts..and most are not 3 holes 4 bends..I get step data from a customer in order to make tool cnc them and press them out. So I put the data in a good hit direction and generate tooling...is the t e a way to pull tools from a solid part..thank
This video was don’t quite a while ago before a major UI revamp. The way things appear in the video is how Fusion used to look at that time when this video was recorded.
i have problem with construction line is not visible. I tried Pres "V" but doesn't effect. it only shows the dimensions but the construction sketch is not showing.
The video is a bit out of date. The constraints live on the toolbar now. You cad add or remove constraints by finding the constraint on the constraint panel and then you can click the 3 dots and choose pin to toolbar.
@@MechanicalAdvantage thanks so much for your reply. The challenge with using utube is learning from the ground up while the user interface is continually updating.

Make sure you see a little x appear when your line is touching your circle. When you see that, the end of the line and the circle will be coincident. If you don’t get that to happen you can also place a coincident constraint at the end of the line and the circle.
dharsanam I’m only taking a guess here. Start a new sketch, find the grid and snap settings on the bottom toolbar below the drawing window. Is snap to grid turned on? Shut that off and see if it helps if it’s on. If not, shoot me an email to info@mechanicaladvantage.com
Hi. I would like to ask how to fit a hole onto the surface of a pipe, not to fit to the center, next to it. For example i have a L=100mm D=20mm pipe and i want to drill a hole 10mm from end of the pipe and 5mm from the midpoint.
Just following your videos, very good. However, in this video, I cannot follow the line command, and draw an arc. It is when you say "click" at about "5:50", is when I cannot replicate on my model. Thanks
Hi David. Sorry for the delayed reply. Here is how it works. You left click to start the creation of the line. When you get to where you want the line to end you left click and hold and then drag the mouse in the direction you want your arc to appear. I hope that helps.
@@MechanicalAdvantage I started using Fusion about 6 years ago, since i subscribed and paid for it the product is becoming more and more unusable. it used to be good, very easy to understand but now its just a complete mess
I’m not experiencing the same issues you are. I’ve been using Fusion since 2013. It was an invite only beta. I haven’t had issues with it becoming more unstable. I use it to teach a few hundred people in classes a year. I’m teaching it to 3 sections of high school kids right now. I do custom programming for customers frequently. I just don’t experience the issues. Do you have examples you can show me that I can share with the Fusion team?
The paid version and the free version are the exact same code. For instance, if you signed out of Fusion and signed in with a free account, you wouldn’t have to reinstall the software. If you went to a different users computer that had the personal license and they signed out and you signed in with your paid account, it would be the exact same install. The code base it exactly the same.
I had no idea that I had so much to learn about the LINE command, for Pete's sake. Awesome video. Thanks!
