I just spent the other day vinegar and peroxide dipping an entire bucket full of rusted (reeeaaaalllllly rusted) tools I'd found out and about, and then zinc electroplating them all again. (Some were kids stealing wm and leaving them out in the yard for god knows what) im So busy. So Many projects working late into the night, alot gets left around. Have multiple project cars, motor builds, home maintenance and upgrades, 40 chickens I had to build a big nice coop and run for recently, plus a never ending list of big projects. My garage is a MESS. I've been a mechanic (classic restoration and performance mods) for a living. Been an Ironworker for a living. Done construction for a living. I have alllllllllllll the tools. Probably 10 of each socket at least lol. Plus a big 5'×7' high power C02 cnc laser cutter/engraver in my garage. It's a MESS. My project today is to tame it and get it back to how I used to operate. Besides the never ending honey-do and must do list. The garage and my projects wad my happy place. And it's been unusable for a while. One car Parked in there and a billion other things and tools all helter skelter from late night project after late night project. It's a really large 2 car detached garage. Have a workbench with low cabinets that runs 100% of the width of the garage and I still (if it was clean) have enough space to park 2 cars in there with enough left over room to easily pull a motor and transmission with an engine hoist without being cramped. Thanks for the ideas
Thanks for the ideas for organization. I'm a diesel mechanic (have been for going on 35 years) and I learned early on about keeping organized in your box. At a glance I can tell if something is MIA and can pretty much walk up to either of my boxes, open a drawer and blindly grab the proper tool, or when someone wants to borrow something, tell them which drawer and what position it's in. Thanks for some great ideas.
You’re right about HF having neat items, I have some, but need to get more tool organizers. gotta say, Taiwan ain't china for purposes of manufacturing identification. Virtually everything i have gotten from Taiwan over the years has been technically good; actually, i prefer Taiwanese tools, if i can get them. i'm not a professional anything, however. Heck, i've had the same potato peeler for over twenty years, made in Taiwan, and i'll fight you if you try to take it from me, lol.

China gets a bad reputation for what we spec out. If you dont want lead in your children spoons tell them you dont want lead. Or just dont cry when you need to do the recall. For higher quality, what ends up happening is as you spec higher tolerence the lack of expertise in china makes their price go up. They know they can make your HF mini lathe but as you want a nicer version the chinese cannot do it in bulk cheap. Then Taiwan is better then German then US. We can do high end for $$$$ china can do low end for $ taiwan is mid range for $$
Magnetic strips are awesome on the boat also. I use a 12" strip for hanging my lures on , until they dry , before I replace them in my tackle box....as a salmon fisherman , we like to call it washing lures , after awhile you can wash quite a few lures in a day.....👍 👍 🇨🇦
Just bought one of those bit holders. Thought it was cool. I had a remote outside job where I took it and stuck it to my tractor bucket because I was doing a mailbox install. The little SOB fell off the bucket and the bits stuck in it popped out and went everywhere. That sucked. So that thing will stay in the shop and not get used like that again. These are good just don't expect the bits to stay put if you ever drop it. Too bad the magnet on the back is not stronger. Oh well. I did buy some of these HF strip magnets and do use those to hold and organize bits works good. Last time those went on sale I bought a bunch of em.
The best socket holders that work for me are the us general magnetic rail. Sockets stay on tight the rail can be placed upside down and on it side without a single socket falling out. You can also customize them by cutting them short and adding or deleting clips. I replaced all of mine. I got them with coupons. I have extra clips and rails just in case.
Great video. I have very few boxes. I do have five ammo cans, but each can is for very specific things. Cut off wheels, etc. Each can has a large label. I hung concrete reinforce wire on all my shop walls. I use dollar store hooks. 90 percent of my stuff is hung and I can see almost all my tools at a glance. Even stuff inside the box it came in. Ratchets, heat gun, drills, etc. I gotta get the cordless drill organizer that you showed. That would free up work bench space. I also use a lot of dollar store super magnets. I love being organized. Great video. Thank you.
I started out using HF magnetic strips for my screwdrivers, they work so well I started using them for my pliers, wrenches, ratchets and extensions. I just lay them in a drawer and put my tools on them.
Excellent, you gave me some great ideas. What's obvious to some people others like me need alittle help. Great video, thank you. And l come from the south and I appreciate your accent. Preciate it buddy, your on the right track.
Those HF single magnetic aluminum socket rails are great! Koken tools, a high end Japanese tool manufacturer, use the same one. The exact same ones! I highly recommend them.
Absolutely love you videos, Big fan here, I’m located in New Albany Indiana and it would be awsome to meet you in person. Thanks for all the great information.
I worked at a auto dealership for a while & a few months after I was hired in, there was a scandal. Apparently, the local snap-on rep was selling boxes to the techs in the area, but he was buying them from HF and replacing the logo, pocketing the $ and handling the warranty swaps himself. When he was promoted and one of the techs needed a bigger box, his replacement offered the tech $20 for trade value on his HF box with a snap on logo glued on, which brought the scam to light. The scammer ended up getting fired, but what I find most interesting is that none of the technicians who got these HF tool boxes with the snap-on logo had any idea that they were using something from Harbor Freight instead of snap on before it became public. Afterward, a couple of them who had actual snap on boxes insisted that they had been given HF boxes. Really makes one question if there really is an appreciable difference between the brands. 🤔 Here's a couple hacks for stuff in this video: For your welding table, pick up some of those cheap plastic plug covers they sell to keep babies from sticking their fingers in outlets. Put them in your unused power strip plugs to keep dirt & debris out. STOP buying button cell batteries in single packs! Go on amazon or fleabay to get a package of 50-100 of the same size for the cost of a couple of the name brand batteries that last just as long. Even if you don't use all of them, you're still money ahead.
I guess what I’m interested in are bins that sit on shelves in my storage shed. Bins for nuts, bolts, washers, joist hangers, braces, etc. probably something like how ace hardware had their bins for nuts, bolts, washers, etc.
Good to see you shining some light on Harbor Freight there Keith. Amazing how they've lasted this long. I remember "wishbooking" through their catalogs in the late 70's when everything they sold sucked...30 some odd years later and Harbor Freight has seriously stepped up their game, specifically in the last 3 years or so. Regardless, awesome video. Shows a lot of thought and effort went into it. -Ray
I also remember when everything sucked at Harbor Freight lol . They still carry that bad wrap till today , even though every store buys the same Chinese tools now
I'm a DIY Guy so I liked the drawer mat for your socket wrenches Cut a strip off and put cuts in it and You've got screwdriver/wrench holders a lot of good ideas to make tools holder for myself I'm way to cheap to pay $20 for a socket holder&bit holder
All right, Keith, all good ideas. Those side boxes, if anybody gets one, they are great boxes by tge way, if your tool box is pretty much stationary, there good to hang on. If you roll your toolbox around, do yourself a favor after it is set in place, put a couple of bolts through the sidewall and into the main toolbox. Retired aircraft mechanic and took me one move of holding the sidebox to steer with, and it mostly came off the toolbox, solved that problem quickly. After you use one a while, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Wrench racks, socket rails are a must. Other tool racks, personal preference, they do help organize though. Brother, I hope when you showed your sockets and ratchets, that was overspray on em and not rust. Agree with you on the brand names using foreign mfg and put their name and higher price on it, not cool. Stop and think, all the brands of tool boxes out there, like batteries and most every other mass production items, there isn't bu a couple of box manufacturers and they just make them with different specs and put different names on em. So just because you you go to buy a Snap On, Mac or whatever toolbox, look at some of tge "cheaper" brands. I'm really impressed with the quality of the new HF toolboxes. God bless you and your family, brother . And stay safe on all these trips over to Harbor Freight, don't get run over in the parking lot.
The HF side box has holes near the bottom and bolts to secure it to your rollcab. With a couple cuts with an angle grinder I put the side cab drawers on my 5 drawer HF cart.
You can make tool trays, out of the kitchen organizer trays fromm your local dollar store! For knives, forks & spoons ,etc... They aren't always the perfect size, for big tools, but usually work good enough! Plus they cost $1.00
@@FishinNStuff They work... but since they are'nt designed for a tool box drawer. They often use 3/4 of the drawer space. And you have some left over room!
This gave me some ideas for tool organizers I may be able to make with my 3d printer for even less than harbor freight! Gonna try to make some insert organizers for my kobalt case stack tool boxes!
When are you gonna take us on a fishin' trip Keith? The sweltering heat of summer might not be the best time, but maybe in the fall? Take us fishin'!!! 🙂
That strip is the best i only have one plug i have access to at work so the strip charges my lights, electric tools, and fan and the other open wall plug i keep a drop cord on to use the ac machine battery charger and welder
Another Great video Mr Stuff, man I needed a video like this to give me some ideas, I'll send you a couple of pictures of my tool box , heck I'm lucky if I can find the right wrench to fit anything. Who would have thunk of all Tha things they have to organize your tools. Thanks for sharing Brother, Can't wait until the next build
That add on toolbox I had to order first they dont carry extras in stock. I forget if I had to pay for it when I ordered but they don’t carry them in stock. I looked & checked their stock &it said they had one at a specific location but when I went there they said that was one somebody ordered & had not picked up yet. I had to special order it & then a week or two later it arrived at my local HF.
They told me that the new version of it is coming out in November. That could be why they are hard to find . I think they are clearing out the old versions
found a good deal on 9mm ammo.... came in neat plastic ammo holders that I couldn't just throw away.. those screw driver bits fit real nice IN THOSE BULLET HOLES...KEEP EM right there on my work bench....ALSO....my favorite is those 18 inch mag strips at H F... priced best on sale, sometimes 3$
My garage looks like I took yellow and red drills, put them in my toolbox shook everything up and poured it on my project boat and bench. I know what I’m doing this weekend.
Happy birthday! These are terrific ideas. I'll be going to Harbor Freight Tools to buy some of those organizers for my tools and my husband's tools. Also, that cord holde will work well on his smoker. I'm paranoid about tripping on the cord in the garage.
Always enjoy the detail you put into your vids man. Even if you spoke about something wrong, you admit it and correct it with a short overlayed clip. Also enjoy the blue outro over the red. 🤙
Another good place to get organizers is from Ernst Manufacturing. Around the same price and sometimes even less then Harbor Freight. Also made in Merica.

Well done!
All really great tips. Thanks

I also remember when everything sucked at Harbor Freight lol . They still carry that bad wrap till today , even though every store buys the same Chinese tools now
I'm a DIY Guy so I liked the drawer mat for your socket wrenches
Cut a strip off and put cuts in it and
You've got screwdriver/wrench holders a lot of good ideas to make tools holder for myself I'm way to cheap to pay $20 for a socket holder&bit holder
Greats hacks!! Lov it!!
You can make tool trays, out of the kitchen organizer trays fromm your local dollar store! For knives, forks & spoons ,etc... They aren't always the perfect size, for big tools, but usually work good enough! Plus they cost $1.00
That's a great idea
@@FishinNStuff They work... but since they are'nt designed for a tool box drawer. They often use 3/4 of the drawer space. And you have some left over room!
Looks good. I have about 95% of stuff you talked about. I got a few good ideas though.
This gave me some ideas for tool organizers I may be able to make with my 3d printer for even less than harbor freight! Gonna try to make some insert organizers for my kobalt case stack tool boxes!
That's a great idea
My husband and I Love all your videos and I watch your wife's also! Do you have any truck toolbox hacks?
I don't have any YET lol . I appreciate you watching and I'll give that some thought
When are you gonna take us on a fishin' trip Keith? The sweltering heat of summer might not be the best time, but maybe in the fall? Take us fishin'!!! 🙂
I will . It's very hard to drag myself out there in this 90 degree heat lol . Ive even been working at night a lot in the shop lately
@@FishinNStuff I've lived in the MISERABLE South for 10+ years, I know the pain.
Magnetic bit holders? You just saved me hours of work making my own. Thank you!
That strip is the best i only have one plug i have access to at work so the strip charges my lights, electric tools, and fan and the other open wall plug i keep a drop cord on to use the ac machine battery charger and welder
👍👍👍I know what ya sayin’ Awesome video like always Sir . Keep’em coming 👍👍👍👍
Just stumbled on this Vid. Very informative, great preso and you had me laughing several times. I really enjoyed it. Thanks. BTW, I subscribed. Drew
I appreciate that . I try to make em entertaining and informative the best I can .
This is one of the hands down best videos I've every seen.....Thank you!
found a good deal on 9mm ammo.... came in neat plastic ammo holders that I couldn't just throw away.. those screw driver bits fit real nice IN THOSE BULLET HOLES...KEEP EM right there on my work bench....ALSO....my favorite is those 18 inch mag strips at H F... priced best on sale, sometimes 3$
Very entertaining and useful. I do want to go for a rolling box but I hate how stuff gets messed up in the drawers.
My garage looks like I took yellow and red drills, put them in my toolbox shook everything up and poured it on my project boat and bench. I know what I’m doing this weekend.
You can use the lid with the magnet holders to add space.
i should put a reminder to watch this video annually and use some of the ideas again
Great video I used a lot of those things already for my tools.
My favorite new organizer accessory is the 1/4” hex shank bit holder from Amazon it holds 12 bits on two carabiners and it’s inexpensive
This was so much fun to watch. Thanks!
Harbor Freight…my favorite toy store.
Another great video Keiith!!
You can use a Dremel to cut out the shape of the tool. Saved me a BUNCH of time!!! 9:59
This was a great video! I am gonna have to go to harbor freight with like 100 bucks and just get all the organizers, they'll be very useful
Happy birthday! These are terrific ideas. I'll be going to Harbor Freight Tools to buy some of those organizers for my tools and my husband's tools. Also, that cord holde will work well on his smoker. I'm paranoid about tripping on the cord in the garage.
You're more fun to watch than my dog tryin to eat a peanut butter sandwhich after I turn him in a couple of circles.
Lol 😁
Always enjoy the detail you put into your vids man. Even if you spoke about something wrong, you admit it and correct it with a short overlayed clip. Also enjoy the blue outro over the red. 🤙
Thank you
Love your channel man- you give great info, advice, and you crack me up too ! Ya make my day.
Another good place to get organizers is from Ernst Manufacturing. Around the same price and sometimes even less then Harbor Freight. Also made in Merica.
This is the first video I have watched of yours.
Yank, I do see what ya sayin’ cheers!
BEST counting I ever seen! Got my sub on the first video.
Thank you very much lol 😆 I really do appreciate that by the way
Great video
