@@markd5804 Nah, his instincts were right: those little buggers are hard to weld. That's why when I need small blades like that, I mill them out of a solid block of tool steel.

Well, I learned a new word today: "Greebling" - fine detailing added to the surface of a larger object that makes it appear more complex, and therefore more visually interesting.
As opposed to "Gerbiling," another new word I learned today.

Hilti tools are great, used to use them when I was in concrete construction a LONG time ago. Back then we mostly used them for firing nails into concrete. 22 caliber charge to blast a nail in. Was the highlight of the day!
I tried to explain that my rusty shaft had no bearing on why the relationship fell apart but no one believes me.
Wire brushing and rust remover is not recommended
Hunter's Moon it would only get rusty from trying to insert the shaft into the wrong bearing, the front one is self lubricating dependent on the strength of the shaft however the rear one, especially if it’s never been used with the original shaft tends to resist the first insertion, this is where the lubrication comes into play, if you have some lube, you will probably find the shaft goes in and out very cleanly otherwise with a dry fit, especially on the first insertion and withdrawal, without lube tends to lead to rust spots, especially with a brand new bearing.

Unfortunately, that particular glaucoma medication can lead to anal glaucoma. The inability for some individuals to see their ass going to work appears to be becoming an epidemic.
Wow they matched the Paint on the aluminum to plastic well. I honestly thought it was all plastic and was wondering how that would be strong enough.
if they made it thick enough plastic and the right kind it would be sturdy enough just the threads for the handle and all that would have to have inserts so its probably cheaper made of metal

The casement of this product is super solid. Makes the willf***yee look like a dumpster fire! And on top of that it is almost another half inch of cutting capacity over the other red competitor.
Always super impressed when people can do videos while somebody is in the room. My mouth totally locks up.
Since a young age I have always enjoyed taking things apart and re assembling with less parts. Less parts = More better!!. Your videos are always so damn entertaining, I'm always learning something from them and end up laughing the whole process. Great stuff!

I've got the cordless bosch bandsaw and I love that frigging tool. Comes in so handy. U'll find all kinds of uses for that little beast.

hilti doesn't 'box' tools they bag them.
each tool comes in a fabric carry bag and a bit of cardboard.
bag comes in a plastic bag to be dust free.
the heavy stuff comes in a case. no outside boxes usually.
I had to replace the guide bearings on the bandsaw at work, $10 worth, decided to do the carbide guide blocks since they were worn and chipped, over $800!, not cheap!. only 6 of them, an upper and 2 side guides each end of the boom.

I'm currently an engineering student and I had to give a presentation for a final project. I got literally no sleep the night before (damn procrastination) so I wasn't really thinking straight. When I was talking about the electronics I kind of zoned out and got lost in my own presentation. I ended up describing an electronic speed controller as a device that "choreographs the angry pixies from the battery to get them choochin in a straight line." I watch too many of your videos haha I don't know what the hell you're saying half the time and I love it

I use these all the time for work. You are completely right about the wheel radius being an issue. Over the past year we have snapped hundreds of bands. These are Hilti brand bands too and they always snap at the weld. The bigger sizes are fine, it’s only the mini that does it because the band is too hard for that radius. I was thinking that annealing the band while keeping the teeth hard would fix it but I’m not sure how to go about doing that.
“Delor..de..del”. The word you were looking for was Delorian. Delorian bushings.
Is that the time traveling bushing? Isn't the polymer called Delrin (from Dupont)? Or are these special ones that work up to 88 mph?
The choice of a polyester could also be to do with the overmold material compatability, something similar to duponts hytrel (copolyester based thermoplastic elastomer) likely for the rubbery bit the blade runs on. The compatability of materials is important to form a strong chemical bond for overmolding rather than relying on a mechanical join. especially on those fast moving rollers that will likely heat up a wee bitty and pull in gubbins from cutting.
In general you are right. I just would like to add that PBT in these applications is selected because of its better dimensional stability compared to PA. It does not absorb moisture so it does not warp as much as PA.
There are also many thermoplastic elastomers which bond perfectly to PA so i dont think thats the main reason.
Molding PBT is not easier to injection mold btw
@@steffenb3306 I would go with heat resistance. Being thermoset it wouldn't warp when heated.
The mechanical contractor I work for leases their Hilti tools, always nice new clean tools. Very happy

I have injection molded PBT before, sucks as a molding operator because you cannot stop without purging the barrel out with PE before hand, but the stuff is a good hard high temp plastic, sprues and parts ping like cast aluminum when you drop them on the floor or strike them
A note on these batteries.
I worked with Hilti tooling for a couple of years and these batteries really surprized me with how long the last and how quikley they charge. Also all the cordless tools I worked with seemed to hold up really well but what really annoyed me was the fact that every new tool we got seemed to have its own type of battery. Every god damm drill needet another battery the big ones different that the small ones.Only the last cordless kit we got finnaly had an intermediary (new) battery type that at least fit both tools in the kit.
To me this really is a drawback not being able to get a bunch of bateries and just use them on whatever tool needs juce at the moment.

Also seems Hilti is the only one use 6 cells in a series instead of 5.
hiltis cordless line isn't worth the investment. The tools are made in China like everyone elses and they barely have 20 tools on their cordless line whereas if you go for one of the big 3 tool brands you can get dozens to hundreds of different tools on one battery.
they do that shit on purpose to make you buy a million batteries since cordless tools are the new inkjet printers
@@TRUE_GR1T I think I have to dissagree that they are not worth it since the cordless tools I worked with really did comvinve me both in quality and performance.
Of cource you are right by saying that they are chinese made but it seems they function just fine despite that.
About the voriety I cant say much since the only things I ever needet in my job ( electrician) where a pretty standart hand drill and hammer drill. But you are certanley right by saying you cant get two tools of theyrs to use the same damm batterry....
And wich one would you call the big 3 at the moment? Here in europe (switzerland) apart from hilti bosch, makita and dewalt are pretty popular closley followed on the home gamer market by rioby. I have even seen some milwaukee machines but they are rare around here.
Interesting to hear your take on the batteries. We use hilti at work, and after a few silica showers the release buttons stop activating the lights. some of the batteries even have burnt out leds.

This same bandsaw is sold At Menards with the Masterforce Menards branding. I’m a commercial electrician and have one of these for 6 years. Almost daily use and still works like a charm.

I own one of these! As a commercial electrician I use it almost everyday to cut EMT! Love love love it
How long do your blades last? I bought this tool last year and went through a blade in a month or less. I went through like 11 blades in a year. There where times were I barely used it for weeks and the blade still broke in a month or so. I was very disappointed and let down by this. So I sold it and all my hilti 22v tools and went milwaukee. I use the mini bandsaw and am on my second one in more than 4 months and I use it all the time. Other than the blades constantly breaking the tool was awesome, I just can’t afford 10-12 blades a year.
I used to work construction in dwntown Chicago, the nearest Homeless Despot was on North ave and they had a whole HILTI ile with a hilti rep always present
I think Stout was one of the first to come out with a cordless bandsaw. I happen to have one of the early STX 250 Stout and it's a handy little saw... The blade speed is about 500 fpm. The Millwacky one is basically a Stout with some bits to make it use Millwacky batteries.
I have used Hilti tools and they seem to have plenty of grunt com paired to others on the market... I have not killed my 7 inch Hilti grinder that I got for work yet.

Looks very much like the Borsjt Blue one I took to bits today. The blade was slipping a lot due to the rubber on the drive pully being on unscheduled leave.
Was fairly surprised by the price of the pully. Only 15 European pesos.
Like the screw holes where you can see the shiny metal, looks solid.

I personally like the older generation of the milcocky type of the portaband, it was kinda similar to the Hilti, but cheaper parts and a stiffer construction. Used it to part off everything from electrical conduit to whatever steel or black iron square or round tube I could fit it on. Beats dragging the big boy around the shop or a big part to it. Could just slide the tube out the rack, measure off and cut. As much as I love my new job, I miss my old job a lot
I have a M12 and it is super handy and quiet. Love it

Would love to see a comparison between this and the Milwaukee compact band saw, I have one that I use every day at work. This seems a bit more robust, but the Milwaukee one is awesome for cutting 1/2" and 3/4" EMT.
Totally correct about the batteries as well. I have froze mine, still work, dropped banged everything you can think of. Cannot beat hilti.
True, last tool renter had a very large selection of Hilti tools, and i didn't look for them specifically, i just went by word of mouth to the cheapest price per lowest time rented (only needed a heavier duty impacter for my yard).
Every Hilty I have ever used was solid and old and still working hard. Even used a Hilty electric jackhammer.
This old Tony is like perfect conditions, ideal tools, lots of time
Working in a mine I can tell u AvE is of the quick and dirty, get er done operationally
I got one from Bosch. Looks almost identical. Perfect for piping or skirting. One big downside: Sometimes you have things that are "just a bit to large".

Just -- wow! Portable bandsaw! Bandsaws are usually huge, permanent installations -- I have never seen a portable one before. Ordinarily I would have expected to have to use a jigsaw for cuts in awkward places, and of course a jigsaw blade moves in both directions -- sometimes that can be awkward.
My last job was in the R&D lab of an electronics factory, and one time we had a lad from one of the local schools visiting for a week's work experience; so we arranged for him to see the whole process of designing and making up a prototype PCB. He was a nice enough kid, and got his head around concepts quickly enough; but he was just a bit squeamish about the sight of molten solder or fast-moving cutting tools so close to delicate human flesh. When I demonstrated freehand bandsawing a piece of PCB laminate, the poor kid was physically sick, bless him.

I bought a Milwaukee m-12 version to cut Uni Strut, works well at the moment. Wish I could of bought the Hilti
Looks like cleaner cut than when I abuse metal with my sawzall...
Had some of these for a few jobs, essentially cutting 3/4" & 1" emt and also 1 5/8 unistrut and the blades would break constantly. Tool was fine to use, no complaints there but having to replace the blade so often became very frustrating. The rep would literally bring in blades by the case load... and i'm sure that wasn't cheap either.
My roommate is an electrician, uses this size bandsaw on conduit and studs every day. If you never cut anything bigger than a stud it's just the right size
Have you ever seen Pink Power tools? I'd love to see one of those torn asunder in the opposite down under.
The rental spots around me mostly got Makita power hand tools, Milwaukee hole hogs, and Bosch Hammer Drills.
Not only a clean workshop, but worst of all a clean coffee cup. This is not the AvE I know and love.
There are a lot of guys at work who use the mini 12v band saw from Milwaukee. It's only about $140, and works great.
A relative of mine has a metal construction business, making all kinds of big structures, they first had Makitas but after the batteries started dying and the new batteries didn't fit the old tools they switched to Hiltis. One day as I was building a CNC machine for him I needed a big piece of steel grating, the kind they use for walkways and I asked where was a big angle grinder to cut it, but one of the guys said "I've got something better", his gives me this small Hilti battery circular saw with a coarse pitch tooth blade, that thing cut through it like butter, probably took like under 10 sec to cut 3 feet of this 1/6 by 1 inch steel bar grating and at no point felt like there wasn't enough power.
Might they use the same confuser and harness in a more girthy model with more space betwixt the locations of installation and take up the extra harness length by twisting the frig out of it such to fit in the space allotted without pixie hose protruding from the seams?
Hilti is too expensive in power tools their fasteners are expensive but their anchors always pass inspection without slipping or shearing. I’m a union electrician and we beat the tools until they break. Your videos are awesome and knowledgeable.

Postal strike? Yea burned up the last clear days on soggy island waiting for a cam belt idler pulley while the balls in the bearing get smaller and smaller and louder and louder, driving the thing like a granny cause over 3000 rpms it puts as much power into tearing the bearing apart in truck shaking glory as it does actually accelerating. Postal? Don't mind if I do.

That is a very nice porta band for some reason i need one now.
Your jacket there seems to have the same patina that mine has after some bumblefock wears it for 20 years, it's a military coat with a 1960's vintage from somewhere in Sweden, picked it up in ye olde army surplus in the states for $30, and it's been the most skookum of coats I have ever had when ur fighting the frigid winters.
My local HSS Hire over the pond, here; up to the rafters with Hitli, Hitlr, Hilti.

I guess Hilti is cutting corners for cost also now. My preference for sub-compact band saw is the Milwaukee 2429-20. Seems to be built well, and perfectly sized for deep Unistrut. Maybe you can pick one up and do a comparison.
Would be interesting to see a breakdown of something similar but cheaper like the Milwaukee M12 Band Saw.
We use the Milwaukee mini band saws at work, they both eat up emt and uni-strut all day!
