Im super SUPER excited. My family really and friends really enjoyed PSVR 1 in spite of its limitations. That was the only time I could enjoy gaming with them. I'm more excited about increased FOV then resolution as I hope it will pull you in the virtual words, resolution is just a bonus. The ease-of-use will be top notch I think.

I’m definitely going with PSVR2, I love the first one for the price, but hated the exaggerated screen door effect on it. Super excited for higher resolution and a more simple set up. Wireless would be great, but I’m fine with just a simple one cord plug and play.

@@triciafreeland1917 So do I, it will have lots of exclusives just like Playstation or PS4 has had in the past. It's just that titles take a while to make especially when developers have almost "unlimited" freedom to do stuff they've never been able to do before on a console (due to the power and the super-fast SSD). It will take a while for xbox to catch up, although they purchased many gaming studios to try to force exclusives these past years. It will still take a while. Also, most VR game exclusives for PSVR2 are likely in development right now and there will for sure be many more AAA titles for PSVR2 now that the gaming industry isn't worried about people not owning VR headsets any longer...

    Excellent video!
Can't wait for PSVR 2. I use my PSVR pretty much on the daily basis. I have used an Oculus Quest 2 substantially, borrowed from a friend and the fact that it is untethered is a HUGE advantage. But some of the games I have and the sheer smoothness of PSVR on the PS5, with a huge library of already bought on sale PSVR games was enough for me to not take a plunge into Quest 2. The resolution dip and the move controllers are definitely aging out quicker and quicker as the days go by, but with the PSVR 2 probably around the corner by a year, is hyping me majorly for it. :)

That's a great reply Viral, very similar to myself. I do own a Quest 2 and a PSVR, both are good for different reasons and both have their pros and cons. I mean though, with all that is going on in the world being a gamer is amazing , what a time to be alive where tech is concerned and it's only going to get better and better. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 in 1979 , I was 13 and blown away when a neighbour invited me and a few other kids into his house to check out his new video game system. The passion for gaming is still with me at 55 years old and my grown up sons are all big into gaming too, it's a great past time.

If you use virtual desktop to play pc games either wirelessly or using the link cable you can adjust the contrast and brightness as far as I remember. It's a great headset, I got it to play Half Life Alyx, fantastic experience but you need a pretty decent pc to run it well. Cheers

Lots of "kids" and some adults these days bring out console wars and I just roll my eye in disbelief. More the console, more the games.. Just win win for everyone I say :)

I don't get these fanboys either, I've owned the xbox, playstation, built gaming pc's etc...my Dad won a trip to New York in 1981 and came back with a hand held Donkey Kong game which my brother and I played to death ! Oh, Astro's is great especially in VR...takes it to a whole new level if you'll pardon the pun :-)....one of my lads built his first gaming pc a few years ago, with a little advice on what parts to buy and how to put it together from yours truly. I'm self taught, used to go to the computer fairs years ago and buy components, usually in a sports centre on a Sunday with a mate, it was a day out and added to the fun. So you took the plunge and got yourself a Quest 2, awesome stuff ! It's a fantastic vr headset for the pricepoint, yes it could be better but then the price would be higher most likely. I'm playing HITMAN 3 PSVR at the moment and Micosoft Flight Simulator 2020 in vr via the Quest 2 connected wirelessly to my pc, bit stuttery sometimes and the graphics aren't the best but it is so immersive. Headset tracking was great on PSVR... lowest latency, at the time, by a noticeable margin. Hand controllers had to rely on gyroscopes and bluetooth too much which caused many problems. Heeeeeelllll no! Part of the joy of VR is being able to exist and walk and interact with the virtual world. Planting your ass on the couch, while it works for some games, is completely immersion breaking. I'm super active in VR and constantly test the limits of what I'm allowed to do. If I could have an entire warehouse dedicated to a VR space I would. Seated experiences, while they can be pretty damn fun (ie Squadrons) suck in comparison to something you're supposed to be physically doing like in HL Alyx, Onward, Saints and Sinners, etc.

Dont worry. There will certainly be a wireless option. Id put money on Sony releasing an adaptor after launch.
Default will be a double endee USBc cable from PS5 to PSVR. There will be a wireless box that plugs into the PS5s USBc port, and a Battery/wireless adaptor that clips to the headset.

I'm not sure why you think you'd need a console on your head to do wireless, all you'd need is a processor fast enough to do H.264/265 decoding at a high enough bitrate, which is quite trivial in todays world (my webcam does H.264 encoding itself with it's own hardware). Obviously still need the battery, and a little bit of additional work on the console to encode the video stream, but that's exactly how Virtual Desktop runs on the Quest 2. Hopefully they come out with an update to make it completely wireless, I'm sure it wouldn't be too much work assuming they left the hardware flexible enough to allow that with an addon.

PSVR came out around the time, (6 years ago!) when all VR headsets had “cameras” to track movement. What you said about it’s tracking badly unless the room is dark is simply not true. The distance and angle of the camera however, greatly affects tracking on PSVR the most. PSVR still has the highest refresh rate and OLED panels. The graphical power on the PSVR hooked to a PS4 Pro powered PSVR especially makes Oculus Quests seem like a cheap toy, also with its terrible blacks of the Quest 2. The PSVR has been the most comfortable headsets of all time still today. Perfectly balanced and no pain in the neck after hours of use like all the oculus headsets. On the new quest you have to spend a bunch of money on straps they call revolutionary that basically work exactly like the straps that came on the PSVR six years ago. Let’s not even start talking about the content. PSVR still have some of the most mind blowing experiences not available on any other VR headset still today. The PSVR2 is going to save the VR market content wise. Facebook‘s acquisition of oculus has stumped it severely. Facebook doesn’t really care about games, They care about intruding into your personal life and selling your details more than anything.

One other thing worth considering when looking at the wired or not wired problem from Sony's perspective is that triple AAA titles will be more likely to be developed if the developers can design their games with high end graphics, I guess the trade off for being wired is more AAA titles and therefore better for VR in general, more competition for Oculus which in turn drives VR on the whole.
