    I've had this problem for years and dealer never figured it out. Once I started using the sequence, I am 95% okay. May take a minute but it
    works. Good on You! Thanks

      I will do a follow up video to this one and hands on video to adjust my own limit switch.

    Your video is much appreciated. I was about to take a chain saw to my shift lock, fortunately came across your video first, and have been following the sequence you suggested ever since. No more issues, working like a charm.

    EXCELLENT!!! EXCELLENT!!! I have had this issue repeatedly and had my 2009 C6 Automatic Transmission Z51 Coupe 6,957 miles, back to the dealership 3 times.
    The first time back to the dealership - June 2019, after getting it unstuck from park and upon dropping the car off for service issues: oil & filter, transmission service & fluid replacement and State Inspection. I was able to leave the car “stuck in park” so they could see it for themselves. I made the Customer Service Rep I believed there was an issue with the Parking Pawl.
    I was told upon picking the car up, the issue was repaired. Over $700 in Service Fees and Parts. Mostly labor costs of course!!!
    On the last 2 occasions, they said they could not replicate the problem.
    After seeing your Vlog, I believe I was guilty of grabbing too much shifter too fast. I’ve slowed down the process and have not encountered it that often, but I have not had a lot of seat time. Only 7,277 miles as of 4/10/2022.
    Thanks for the information!

    I've been doing the same thing for years on my 2005 c6, and this problem has just started occurring, but your video really helped. Thanks!

      Yep, eventually either a pawl bypass is needed or solenoid harness they sell.

    The 6 speed automatic/6L80E with paddle shifters started for the 2006 model year.
    Thank you for this video. :-)

    • @mikezaverin
      @mikezaverin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct, early 06 had 4 speed

    • @LS1LT1
      @LS1LT1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As far as I know, none of the 2006 model year Corvette automatics came with a 4 speed (4L65E) automatic.
      All 2005 Corvette automatics were 4 speed (4L65E).
      All 2006 - 2014 Corvette automatics were 6 speed (6L80E).

      @@LS1LT1 You are right my 2006 has the paddle shifters and is a 6 Speed Automatic. Right now my car is stuck in neutral. Will only shift to drive and back to neutral. The car isn’t driven much it has a original 14k miles on it. Had to take it to New Jersey inspection today and it acted up never happening before. First it wouldn’t come out of park. I had to shut the engine off in neutral and disconnect the battery in the mean time.

      @@ffas23 There are other tricks you can try, you can actually reach the little black release lever through the leather boot, it is to the very right of the shifter (under the boot of course). You have to feel around there for it through the leather boot as you're trying to press/pull the button on the shifter itself. This all seems to happen on vehicles with weaker a battery and/or cars that have sat for a while (a week+ or more) without having been driven. Seems to be related to lower battery power.

    It works! BUT, you have to wait until green accessory light comes on. Takes a few seconds. THX!

      I actually need to adjust my limit switch. Tab needs to be pushed out a smidge to always make contact when in park.

    Thanks for tip, even with auto trans, I still use the emergency brake.

    • @mikezaverin
      @mikezaverin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s your preference but automatic trans has a parking paw and chances of your vehicle rolling are slim to none.

    ok what about when your driving and the car will not go back in to park? it has all the other gears though like it has Reverse, Neutral, Drive, and S gear but will not move foward into Park

    • @mikezaverin
      @mikezaverin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say remove the center console and verify it’s not the interlock mechanism first. If all is clear, start with the linkage under the car and trans itself.

      Have you gotten to the bottom of this issue? My 07 just started doing this on a hot day here in NNY. Took it through a touchless car wash and it just started. Coincidence?

  • @rustler08

    Do NOT rely on the accessory trick if you start having issues. This issue means your microswitch is failing, and you will eventually get stuck in park with no way to bypass it.
    Replace the microswitch or buy a whole shifter assembly.

    • @mikezaverin
      @mikezaverin  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made videos about that and you can’t replace or spruce the micro switch. You have to buy a used assembly

    Well, 4/30/2023 and it’s locked up. 7,242 miles on it and I can’t seem to use your “hack” to get it out of Park!
    I’ve got a deal going on to sell the C6 and can’t get it out of the garage.
    Damn!!!
    Probably need to get it to the Dealership to resolve the issue.
    Really upsetting about this. Seems like the Dealership can’t replicate it.
    Any idea what to do now?

    • @mikezaverin
      @mikezaverin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bypass the parking paw in the center console or replace the solenoid or micro switch.

    • @kerry_glock
      @kerry_glock ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I’m not one to turn the wrenches on cars. I’m the guy that puts gas in the car and once and awhile checks the oil and air in the tires.
      I guess I’ll be calling the dealership and getting a tow truck.
      I’ve tried the suggested “hack” at he end of the video and it had worked a few times in the past. Not this time….. it’s going to be a challenge to get the car out of the garage and onto a rollback. 💩
      I hope the Dealership Tech can work a permanent fix.

      I would suggest removing the center console which is not that bad and inspecting parking paw. I would also make sure your trans linkage is not binding.
