Hi Danielle, I’m so sorry about your dad . Loss around the holiday can be super tough . I, too, lost my dad (on Christmas Day), but it was his favorite holiday so I try to find peace in knowing this, but it does change the feel of the holiday . His mother passed away on Christmas Eve so that had also changed the feel of the Christmas season for all of us when he was living. I love what TCMC has done with these kits . I definitely stay in my current book. I actually don't let go of the previous year's book until about mid-January because you never know what stuff you forget to migrate and might still need. It's fun to get the 2024 orders and plan how to plan on them, but 2023 is not over yet.
I finish the book I'm in, and then backplan the month that's in the new planner. Holidays are difficult for me as well - all of them - so I can empathize with you completely. It's difficult to "get into the spirit" so I try to celebrate the season vs the holiday. 💜
I'm a bit of both really. I finish the book with the full December the way I would use it normally, then the December of the new planner I fill with either a collection or gratitude log with some testing of my newly set up habits/goals etc. to not let it go to waste :)
It is so crazy this year on the 26 of December will be my one year since my Dad passed away so I’m really having a hard time now and I no it’s going to get harder closer we get to Christmas to top it off we just had to put our 19 year old cat Jeffery down and Christmas has always been hard for me it was my mom most favorite holiday she went all out with decorations I remember blasting Brenda lee singing and decorating the house and baking cookies and she passed 12 years ago so I Christmas has been hard ever since I lost her and than my Dad passed the day after Christmas so yeah it’s rough how long has it been since you lost your Dad it don’t seem to get easier thank you for spending some of your time with us

But because I use disc planners I feel like I’m always changing my planners whenever I get bored (change back and forth many times throughout the year). It depends on how I feel about the old and new planner system. I am suppose to move into a hobonichi, because my bullet journal doesn't suit me anymore. But if I like my system or planner and my new one is about simular, I finish the year in my old one.

I’m team finish your planner and then move in the first week of January. I think every planner deserves its full year of attention and the new planner will get the same. Plus a completed planner is amazing to archive and feels like a huge accomplishment. If a planner has a December monthly I’ll often set it up backplanning in it to just have it complete (so my planner is always complete) for fun Or I repurpose it for something else so that once again it’s complete. But I won’t plan in it. Just sometimes duplicate the info from my CY planner after the fact so it’s all full and I can try new layouts or get an idea of how I want to use the new planner and changes I might make.

This is my first year not in a happy planner so i went right into my new hobonichi cousin as soon as it was first partial week of December. Im curious if ill stay in hobonichi in general or what i will do next year if i do stay in the cousin. Also i am so sorry about your father ❤❤
Thank you 💝 The happy planner is very flexible! I find that the Hobonichi allows for almost a perfect structure for me though. Don't worry if the Cousin isn't for you btw, there are SO many options out there now I feel like this next year there will be more planner peace :)
