Pakora Thongba Recipe I Manipuri Food I Pakora Curry - gram flour dumplings in spicy gravy

Pakora or pakoura thongba is a popular Manipuri dish prepared from fried gram flour dumplings cooked in spicy thin yellow peas stew.
(There may be other variations to this recipe, however this is how I prepare the dish. Hope you all like it)
✅Ingredients (serves 4):
3/4 cup yellow peas (soaked overnight)
For besan dumplings/pakoras👇
3/4 cup besan/gram flour
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp each coriander & cumin powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
1/2 cup water
Oil to fry
For the stew:
2-3 tbs oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 bay leaf
1/3 cup sliced onions
1/3 cup garlic chives
1/2 tbs crushed ginger
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp hing/asafoetida
Yellow peas liquid stock
2 cups water
Salt to taste
Garnish:
Fried crispy yellow peas (mangan ataoba)
Chives or spring onion
Green chillies
Fresh coriander
