Y'all sleeping on the power of Rapunzel. She literally realized that her "mother" was abusive halfway through the movie, and somehow gains the ability to trust herself over the opinions of the person who raised her. The movie as a whole is a HUGE lesson on manipulative and controlling behavior and how it's NEVER about love.
@@emilyhedrick2851 yeah that's gotta give her princess power points! Also I think they seriously underestimated the power of overcoming such a long, abusive reltionship like that Edit: I'm an idiot and didn't read the original comment when I replied... Oops
Agreed!! I was so shocked they rated her under Merida 😱 Merida was so annoying and made bad decisions and need to humble herself. While Rapanzel felt a deep desire to go out, but stopped herself because she feared betraying her mother. And her hair was magical! No other princess has magic powers, expect Elsa but shes technically a queen.
@@jra3978 The line where you said, that Elsa is technically a Queen, making Rapunzel the only princess with magical powers, I and someone else both independently went, "fair point 🤔" which I thought was funny.
Rapunzel‘s whole storyline was about realizing that she was in a emotional and mentally abusive house which used her for her gift. it talks about realizing unhealthy living situations and trusting herself more than trusting the person that raised you.
It's interesting how many Disney princesses are survivors of abuse and neglect. Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Elsa, Belle (depending on how you look at it), are all survivors of abuse and/or neglect. Btw, it annoys me that Eugene called Cinderella an indentured servant when what she really was, was a slave. There have been white slaves in historical communities and there still are to this day.
While I agree for the most, I think everyone overlooks the toxicity and the abuse Rapunzel went through with her "mother" And just how brave she was too She's not my favourite but definitely not that low
1) rapunzel healed Eugines hand 2) she healed him at the end of the movie when he was stabbed 3) she sacrificed herself for him 4) she escaped her kidnapper 5) survived all of the bad guys without him 6) she did most of the fighting with her pan Sorry I love Rapunzel too much!! 😂🥰
Y'all did not discuss nor appreciate Tiana's story enough for me. The whole soundtrack slapped, we watched her and Naveen fall in love, she worked hard and had big aspirations, and they had an adventure in New Orleans! plus the whole Ray and Evangeline storyline makes me cry each time.
@@raspberrycrowns9494 she def should've been higher than jasmine because she's way more sexualized and historically inaccurate while tiana (mainly) was better.
Frrrr tiana definitely had more of an impact and a more inspiring and empowering story. The music was fire, the characters were interesting and unique, and even as a frog she still kicked ass. She showed you don’t have to give up to love to be a successful person women, you can have both. 😂 but lemme get off my soap box
I also just like Tiana's love story better. Naveen is a prince who falls for Tiana after they turn into frogs and go through a bunch of stuff. They never pretended to be something else to get the other person. Aladdin pretneded who he was just to get Jasmine's attention (both in market and at the castle) and then assumed who she was as a female and a princess.
Yall did rapunzel dirtYYY. Her character is very relatable and the songs are just amazinggg (some of my favs). Love how she also stood up in a masculine setting
My girl Rapunzel was done so badly. She was emotionally, mentally and psychologically abused, gaslighted and manipulated by the only person in her life who lied to her and said she was her mother. Mother Gothel was a genius narcissistic villain but Rapunzel still managed to notice the red flags, stand up to her and rebel. She taught herself to chart stars, make candles, paint, do pottery, sow, bake, knit, cook and so on. She literally defended herself with nothing but a frying pan and hair. She saved Eugene and was ultimately selflessly going to sacrifice her freedom for his life. Tangled itself is so timeless. She heals him and protects him at times too. Plus her and Flynn actually have chemistry. She is fun, radiant, positive and optimistic. She has a very happy go lucky personality and never fails to dream and pursue those dreams. She also encourages and inspires others to dream and achieve those dreams. She has strength and power in more than one way - physical and emotional - aspiration, determination, ambition, motivation, drive, resilience, perseverance, hope, compassion, loyalty, trust and honesty. She is also very talented and street smart. If she was not she would not have made it out alive because she was too 'naive' and 'oblivious'. I guess if you have really sweet, kind and genuine people around you who are sincere, authentic and real in their love and affection towards you, she may not seem very relatable or strong to you. But if you have been exposed to that kind of toxicity then she is your comfort character. I will admit she does not have a lot of character DEVELOPMENT in the movie/film but she has one of the BEST personalities. She may not fight in a war but she battles anxiety and fear. She is a great role model.
Realistically she is the more the relatable princess and defending herself when she didn’t have Eugene by her side. She’s definitely lower than she should have been on this list. She’s a role model for young children personally she’s my favorite.
I think Jasmine should have topped mulan because even tho Mulan fought for her family and country, she still fled from her fate. And as Jasmine also fled, she still returned to deny sutures and was in control for most of the movie, even though the purpose of that movie was for Aladdin.
Tbh I know she’s not the most “empowered” character but I relate more with Rapunzel than any of the other princesses. She’s optimistic and artsy and it takes a different type of bravery to stand up to her abusive mother!
I agree! Love Rapunzel. You have to take into account that she was abducted as a child, being locked away and emotionally abused her entire life. That's going to do a lot of damage to a person. To expect someone to come out of that situation being super strong and independent is just silly. Yet in spite of that the first thing she does when there's an intruder is knock him out with a frying pan. Also she stands up to her abuser which takes so much strength.
It felt kinda sad to see poor Repunzel get bashed on for not being strong enough. She’s an abuse victim! Not everyone has the courage to leave abuse on their own and stand up to it, especially when you were manipulated your whole life!
Rapunzel isn't strong **hits a man with a cast iron pan and hides him in a closet** **learns to love despite abuse** **helps a crap ton if thugs** also, she rebelled against her "mother" and decided to chase her dream.
Billy Joe Bob the Unicron wait what ?! That’s freaking messed up. So he basicly rapes a 14 year old girl THAt is presumed death and lies in a coffin has his way with the body of the death child and she wakes up 9 months later that is imposible AND messed up.
excuse me y'all clearly haven't seen tangled the series also Belle didn't have Stockholm syndrome and Cinderella should be higher she was a great heroine
They really slept on Rapunzel. Girl was abused in every way and kidnapped from her birth parents as a baby. Like its not her fault she was a held as a prisoner lead to believe the woman who robbed her from her family.
These are exactly my thoughts! It is way more inspiring in my opinion than the Little Mermaid. To show strength to break through, to build your life from a scratch...
with the line of thought we could also argue that aurora has no fault in sleeping through a big part through the film because she went into a trap without knowing it. Maybe she is strong when she was awake we don’t know hHhahah
need to give Merida and belle more credit. Merida was the first princess to not have a love interest and belle was intelligent and loved the beast for his heart.
don't agree abt belle, but yes to Merida. She was a huge shift in how Disney created the arc of their princesses! That movie was about her character growth, not a love story. But I still don't understand why all the bears!
Everybody misses the point about the bears. We have to remember to that how we see things isn’t the same as how others see things. Sometimes we think we know how others feel, believe, think, but we don’t see the full picture. It wasn’t until her mom turned it not a bear that either of them took the time to see from the others perspective.
@@miamazingness Rapunzel goes through more than her physical journey, going off into the world for the first time and tackling new experiences and threats. People often gloss over the fact that Mother Gothel is representative of an emotionally abusive parent. Rapunzel grows throughout the movie by overcoming the trauma of having been subtly brought down over and over by Gothel. It's subtle to people who maybe have never experienced or thought about it before, especially since in the beginning Gothel's abuse is framed in a more comedic manner, like in Mother Knows Best. I know friends whose mothers acted so much like Gothel, telling them horrible things about either their self-image or their judgment and then saying they're only doing it because "they love them". Hope that makes sense!
@@loverrlee THANK YOU! I know this about Rapunzel but this made me think about Cinderella too. Like, I get Cinderella isn't the most "perfect" role model, but for someone who is in an abusive situation, when I was younger, Cinderella was my rock. She's the one that inspired me to try my best to always be kind to people regardless of my circumstance and to value friendship and my siblings so much more, and people who didn't grow up in a situation where home wasn't the safest place or were ever trapped often forget that aspect of some of these women, and that just kinda frustrates me
Tangled is an amazing movie. At the end the "prince" didnt save her but they saved each other. Its my personal favorite - I guess I relate to her more, and her determination is wonderful. The romance is developed throughout the movie as well.
I also personally love that she had relatable fears. Yes she wanted to see the lights but was too scared to go by herself which is understadable since if she went by herself she could get lost and anxious due to living in a tower all of her life
Not to mention the girl is literally so talented?? When she’s trapped in the tower she learns how to paint, cook, bake, draw, do her hair, sing, and so much more 😭
17:38 “She’s not that relatable.” Ah yes. Overprotective helicopter parents, needing to hide things that normal teens should be able to do because of said overprotectiveness, lack of bodily autonomy, unhappiness because your parents want use out of you, lack of a voice, dreams constantly trampled on. Those things don’t exist.
i understand your point and agree with you, but don't take this video personally and serious, everyone have their own opinions and we shouldn't be angry because everyone have different perspectives
Yes as Alex said she’s not relatable but Rapunzel is relatable whereas Alex isn’t. Not everyone cheats on their fiancé with a married man and father of 2.
Yes. Like Cruella, Ursula, Maleficent, Evil Queen, Evil Stepmother, whoelse 😭😭 since they are all ranking disney stuff now... better to do it like a series haha 🤣🤣
@Bach Nguyen A military record,《孝烈将军祠像辩正记》, states that Mulan was a "respectable and fierce female general." Eventually, the story of her life was passed down in a story that Disney adapted into a film. Although the film has inconsistencies with the original person, there's no doubt that Mulan existed.
Wolf Treetruck There’s accurate historical records which say she was a general. The poem that you’re talking about, presumably 《木兰辞》, was a poem that was based on the real person.
I can't remember where I saw this but I read somewhere that it wasn't actually Stockholm syndrome in beauty and the beast. The thing that I read also said that Gaston is really the most terrifying Disney villain because he was so popular. The entire town believed everything he said. He was able to get them all ready to send Belle's dad to the asylum and storm the beast's house to kill him.
I found a really compelling argument about this on Tumblr!! Let me find it. also, Gaston terrified me as a child, more than Ursula, more than Jafar, more than any other villain because he said nothing but degrading things to people, especially to Belle, who he claimed to love only for her looks any nothing else.
I was looking for that comment!! Yeah this Stockholm syndrome is shit, it just portraits Belle as this helpless oppressed person kinda without a mind a free will and not as somebody who was actually loving and kind and could see a heart even in the "beast" with whom she made a genuine connection. I'm doing terrible job when im trying to put it into words but there is at least one article about it. And Gaston is absolutely the most terrifying villian because he's so realistic. Like he could be a real guy. There are guys like that yk.
Cinema therapy actually covers the myth of Stockholm syndrome using beauty and the beast and explaining that even if it was a real syndrome belle didn’t have it
@@bananaspliitz9136 i was really hoping I'd see this comment 🙏 i know this video is old at this point but belle deserved better than she got in terms of ranking
fr why she tryna make belle seem helpless... she fell in love with him and saw beyond the beast everything made him out to be 🤦♀️ the whole story went right over that girls head and that’s why belle is the best princess. she’s a brilliant beautiful princess with the biggest heart.
Cindarella literally had help from EVERYONE, from prince to fairy to animals amd she still for the longest time choose to a slave. At the end Anna just wanted a guy. Of course she saved her sister after but so does Rapunzel with Flinn going against her "mother" and being herself as the silly person that she was without shame. Rapunzel did better but I am also biased because next to Yassmine she is my favorite princess 😂
Dragonix Heli tbh same 😂😂 but I totally agree with you she was funny, silly and relatable. She was also very brave and much more inspirational than many. They did her dirty. She was definitely more than what they described.
@@itsjakia2759 Also many forget she thought at that time it was her mother. And she stayed for so long even though she wanted to go adventure and knew how to go down she still stayed just because she loved her mother and didn't want to dissapoint her. Family love made her endure it which should be not the norm, she also went against it but in a way it's also inspirational that she didn't want to get her "mother" worried. Ariel just didn't had any interest in family and friends being worried at her because she did her thing and loved it and Rapunzel loved her adventure but also her mother. Fot that alone she deserves a higher rating, she was more selfless in that sense
yes exactly. like ofc at the time they didnt know (or idk the timeline if it was even happening now) but seeing her on screen now just always makes me uncomfortable
Yeah. I go back sometimes now and then to a random video and Alex happens to be in it. It really puts a damper on the whole video. It adds an undercurrent of disappointment to the whole thing
Tiana is so underrated. she's the most hard-working, driven princess which i think is incredibly admirable. even if she was a frog for most of the movie, she was always a strong character and never gave up on her dreams
HECK YES Elsa is so overrated too. She basically killed her sister froze over the kingdom and learnt nothing about responsiblity and everyone was like “Ye she cute and cool and awesome” she froze over the whole kingdom with no consequences.
Right!? Also desiring a man doesn’t make you weak... Isn’t love the most universal relatable feeling can we stop putting down female protagonists just because they want love. Doesn’t almost everyone? lol
Yeah, we’ve been too sensitive about being feminine nowadays, but you’re right. If we’re literally strong inside out, we can be back to “I’m waiting for someone” statement in an optimistic way...cuz life is always included with dramas
Anto , no one really sees cinderella for who she really is sadly. She is a woman who didnt let her abuse define her and she stayed who she was no matter what, a strong but gentle and kind feminine woman. Nothing wrong with that. Also she never intended on want to meet the prince. All she wanted was to get out and be free for one night. To experience freedom, meeting the prince was something that just happened but it was not her intentions. Her intentions were always freedom and just being able to live freely. I think she deserves more respect for showing young girls and also anyone really that you can always find a way to overcome abuse and finally live freely, whether or not that includes a prince
@@JazziShae So we can't have stories that just... don't center around falling in love? All kids movies have to be romance stories? Come on. We need way way less of those, and straight romances are too overdone anyways. If we are going to have any romance stories, have them just be original gay/lesbian stories. Kids movies should mainly be like action/adventure, about family (Brave), finding your way (Moana), workers owning the means of production (Antz & A Bugs Life), etc.
Moana should have been higher than Jasmine hands down, Jasmine wasn't the main character, nor was she that interesting as all she did was argue her way out of and run away from an arranged marriage, Moana literally saved an entire planet and a shapeshifting demigod. Moana's storyline was more inspiring and related to more people, and did more in her movie
While that is totally valid, I think the appeal of Jasmine over Moana is that (if I remember correctly but correct me if I'm wrong ofc) Moana was discouraged from journeying and only decides to do so anyway when her grandmother's spirit tells her she should. She wants to be adventurous and she has skill but lets herself be limited by other people's approval. Granted, it's out of loyalty to her island but I think in the end it's not as admirable. -I do agree however that one thing Moana certainly has going for her is a) Pua. That pig is so freaking adorable 😍 and b) disney has the humility to poke fun at it's own princess troupes a few times in that movie, c) she's SINGLE! But Jasmine is a classic and also I believe the first non white disney princess, closely followed by pocahontas and mulan, then later Tiana. She also doesn't let her arranged marriage or her father's disaproval anchor her. Plus the genie is epic.😌
imo the scale of heroism doesn’t matter that much. like yeah, mulan and moana were heroes, but that shouldn’t count the other princesses out of the competition. they were just as strong, yknow? you don’t need to save the world to be amazing 💖
Yeah, Moana was awesome, and even though Jasmine did stuff too, I believe that she should be beneath Moana and Tiana. For Tiana, she worked hard for her whole life, didn't take handouts unless she worked for them, her accomplishment wasn't marrying Naveen and becoming royalty, it was finally starting her own business (one where her husband works for her, may I add), she saved the entire town of New Orleans from being eaten by demons for the rest of time, never got tempted at all, and managed to be a very successful black woman in the 1920s. Also, mad props to Charlotte for sacrificing her dream to help her friend (even though she was a little too late, it's the sentiment that counts).
She deserves so much more love. The film is great and while the soundtrack isn't that memorable(actually fudge that, "I See The Light" is iconic, fight me lol) the film's story, characters, comedy, and overall look/animation is amazing!
As someone raised by an abusive parent, I’m so sad to see Rapunzel ranked so low. This woman was lied to her entire life, and when she negotiates her way out of the tower she begins to realize that the actual world isn’t anything like the world her abuser described to her. The last act of the movie includes her standing up to her abuser, refusing to be the victim and choosing the life she wants for herself. Really all Flynn did was agree to her terms to work as her navigator. Rapunzel and her bartender friends saved his life like half a dozen times
Lemme go on a rant for my homegirl Rapunzel: Honestly, she's one of the most relatable princesses. Her abuse is real. Abusive parents don't always have to be violent. They can be condescending, manipulative, which is why she doesn't realize her home is unsafe. She and Eugene are treated as equals. Neither is better than one another. Rapunzel saves the day on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE CLIFF SCENE
@@GodSpear plus flynn didn't 'save' her from the tower he allowed her to find a loop hole in the conditioning of Mother Gothel. The lowering herself from the tower is really symbolic because SHE COULD HAVE LEFT AT ANY TIME but she was abused into dependence. He provided perceived safety for her but even when he leads her into danger she holds her own and inspires those around her. She would have been fine on her own if not for the abuse of Mother Gothel that made her doubt herself.
I think Rapunzel needs to be higher. She did have goals, and the story really highlights the reality of abusive relationships, and the part where she confronts her abuser (Mother Gothel) is really significant and really hit home for me and a lot of other abuse survivors. And even though Flynn helps guide her to where she wants to go (that’s why she doesn’t leave, she doesn’t know where to go. she has no clue about anything in the outside world but she did have the ability to get out of the tower herself - she was mostly trapped because of how Mother Gothel abused and manipulated her), she still takes care of herself most of the time. I think dismissing her as just another damsel in distress and not an abuse victim is a disservice to her character.
Dude, Rapunzel should be higher b/c she stood up to flynn after never having met a man in her life and only having her mom's scary stories to go by AND she makes him take her to see the lights - she's freaking bargaining with this guy! Super brave, then she's willing to give up her freedom to save his life - she should be way higher!
I feel like all of them should’ve took the time to rewatch the movies, to me a strong female character has nothing to do with their physical capabilities and rebellious mindset but their achievements alone as a person While I love Mulan and shes my favorite, it was never because of her awesome sword skills and saving China, it almost belittles the others. Same goes for the “not needing a man/prince for this” aspect since it makes people overlook how awesome a character is even while the character is getting help.
right?? if you have to see it from her perspective, she has been taught a whole lie her whole life and is taught that's her mom and the real world is scary. yet she still manages to defy her mom, go live her dreams to see the lights, saves Eugene's ass, has a cool frying pan, and was willing to give up her life to her mom to heal Eugene and let him live
Me too, I absolutely love Rapunzel I am quite similar to her with how she does art, had quite long hair and got it chopped off, and I just fricken love her I've probably have watched Tangled over 20 times by now
I would rank Rapunzel higher because even though she was locked up for most of her life, she remained social and curious and doesn't care about what other people might think of her. Flynn didn't really save her from her tower, he was just the first thing that Rapunzel encountered that could get her out of the tower without getting completely lost in the forest.
Jaxay Sky plus Stockholm syndrome is a bitch so it’s not like she stayed there and could’ve escaped, she stayed because she was terrified of the outside world
They did Belle DIRTY! SHE DESERVES TO BE ABOVE ARIEL! SHE'S WAY SMARTER AND MATURE THAN ARIEL! SHE HAS MORE SUBSTANCE! HER Coolness IS NOT BASED ON BEING A MERMAID!
I 100% agree! Ariel is a selfish brat who is blinded by the cuteness of a boy, when Belle is mature, selfless, kind, just not even deserving to be even CLOSE to the same rank let alone UNDERNEATH Ariel! Sorry got heated there lol 😂
@@mollycampbell6836 nooo i do agree belle should higher but ariels not a selfish brattt she didn't leave the ocean for a guy she left because she felt misunderstood!
@@ofthestars7007 haha, its true I haven't seen the movie in ages. all I know is the "I want more" song, does not feel like a "power song" like they were describing, it sounds painfully ungrateful and privileged lol also the father daughter relationship is saddening 😂 maybe realistic, but why can't at least movies show how to respect each other?? just some more thoughts🤪
@@thevomitking9127 I'm bout to throw hands! Belle is super intelligent and has self worth. Yes they both want more and different lives, but Belle is way more selfless. She traded her life for her father's. Ariel left hers and disobeyed him. She wanted to discover the human world, but she dis it in an irresponsible way. She left everyone who cared about her and temporarily hurt them. Belle is the best. No contest.
In Cinderella's defense, she wanted to just go to the ball to have fun, she didn't really want to meet the prince. She didn't even wait in line to go and be introduced to him, she was exploring the castle and he came up to her. The prince was a bonus.
@Athena Tait you are absolutely on point. I also disliked how they only praised women who displayed masculine energy, like Mulan while completely overlooking feminine energy like Cinderella. Cinderella is the most relatable character.
Poor Cinderella gets a bad rep. She didn’t ask for a man, she just wanted a night off & to look cute while she was at it ffs. I’d also like to point out that she saved herself. She could have succumbed to her environment; but she held onto her hopes and dreams. The privilege or status she would have had disintegrated when her father died, much like her dress and the other enchantments when the spell wore off **except** for the glass slippers AND it wasn’t even the slipper the prince had that “saved” her. It was the **other** slipper that *she* held onto (much like she held onto her own hopes & dreams).
“Belle’s villain is just like a guy” he’s so much scarier because he is a real concept, women in that era really would have had to live under the thumb of guys like Gaston. He really would have had the power to have her and her father committed to an asylum. Ursula is a symbol for loss of voice and there by powerlessness. You could even argue she’s a symbol of what’s going on with Belle. I think Ursula herself would find belles life more frightening than Ariel’s.
Yes, brilliant points! I feel like anyone who doesn't think Gaston is a scary villain should rewatch the movie again. He had the power to force her into marriage (or else institutionalize her and her father) and rallies a town into an angry mob. The whole society is scary, which kind of validates the beginning of the movie when Belle is frustrated by their small-mindedness.
Cinderella wanted a night out she didn't even know who the prince was. She said "I need to meet the prince" as her excuse to run away. Sis wanted to go clubbing
I didn't even understand why she was not the last one with Aurora, she never stood against her mother or sisters and always did what they wanted and only found the "strengh" to go out when her fairy made her a dress. At least rapunzel could stand against her mother at the end alone and Snow White even run away by herself which Cindarella could not, that bothered me sooo much 😂
Don't forget, because she's cleaned the chateau for so long as far as she can remember, if you need any advice on what cleaning products to get or how to do certain chores, she's the girl to talk to
18:00 it's not her fault she was trapped, she was a prisoner under her abusive and manipulative mother, just like cinderella, and eventually denied her and broke free in the end. Even though she's not my favourite princess I think she deserves wayyyyyy higher, just because so many girls can relate to feeling manipulated or used by their mothers at some point just like she was
Yeah......she should've been higher tho because she's talented, has magical hair that can heal, and can grab stuff using a freaking HAIR! Oh and also she wacks people with a frying pan and get them concussion so......I almost forgot, what do you mean "not that strong" she freaking pulls her "mother" up to a high tower ALONE and using a HAIR.
I can't believe they put Rapunzel so low. She's been abused and kept prisoner her whole life by her manipulative "mother". She managed to push against that, go after what she wanted which was to see the lanterns and saved Flynn like 5 times in the process. "Not relatable" wow. But Mulan is the best, so i'm at least happy with that.
Chikina they glossed over the fact that she kicked a lot of ass. Especially during the flight from the Snuggly Duckling. Also even if she wasn’t physically strong, she was strong in her heart which is just as important
Eugene: Just because I had a custom Mulan outfit made, doesn’t mean I’m putting her as number 1. *Mulan’s Turn* Eugene (no hesitation): PUT HER AT THE TOP
I would actually argue that Belle doesn’t have Stockholm Syndrome because she doesn’t take the Beast’s shit and shuts him down multiple times. She doesn’t start to fall for him until he starts being kind and treating her as an equal.
yes! A more correct syndrome is Lima Syndrome, which is more or less the opposite of Stockholm Syndrome, where the captor starts to sympathize with his/her captive. The Beast changed for Belle, she stayed the same strong woman she was from the beginning of the movie
Vroni Rom Yeah.. Eugene just said “she was saved by Flynn”. She wasn’t saved, she decided to leave on her own because she wanted to see the lanterns up close. Flynn was just a freaking tour guide/body guard.
Teshé Rolle agreed, she's in my top 3 at least. especially in the animated series they do on disney she's even more independent and badass and you get to see the trauma she's overcoming. overall a rly good character
Right!! I have the sun tattooed because it is my favorite movie and she is my favorite princess!! She holds her own and makes a friend with everyone she came across. She was just being both literal and non-literal ray of sunshine!
Horse Lover I agree! It’s defying the stereotype that there’s only one hero, because both of them are the heroes. Tangled is a gorgeous movie overall... and it can resonate with not only female audiences but men as well because it shines men and women in equal light, which is really what we want to be teaching future generations.
totally agreed I thought tangled shouldve been higher. She defied her own mother figure, offered her freedom for the life of a loved one, overall she has done a lot to save flynn and others from her personality and independence
Sorry guys, all I could see in this movie was a teen falling naively in love with the 1st loser she met. I couldn't really focus on anything but that (except how mother gothel was bad ass singer) I felt she should have gone a bit lower.
I completely agree too, can't believe how low they ranked her! In addition to these great points, even though she didn't fight the villain, she was strong by showing love. I thought it was so creative be showing how strong and independent she can be just by being genuinely caring and thoughtful and bringing out the best of other people. It showed that by keeping hope, staying positive, and going outside your comfort zone, you can achieve your goals and live a much better life. I thought it was relatable as she is not that person at the beginning, being very scared, anxious, and worried, as well as having very relatable indecision, where a pivotal moment of your life can make you go back and forth not knowing what to decide. And as you follow the story, she grows, she learns, and she finds who she really is. The falling in love is an after thought, as Flynn helped her change into the person she always wanted to be and she changed him as well. It's the most beautiful romance in disney imo and I think it deserves waaay better than 3rd from the worst disney princess!

I agree she definitely should've been higher than Jasmine

Top she goes!
But hey, that's just a theory, a FILM THEORY!!
awesomegirl8934 considering most of princesses have 0 kill count… might be a very realistic thoery
I have been saying that for years!
THANK YOU!
Realistically she is the more the relatable princess and defending herself when she didn’t have Eugene by her side. She’s definitely lower than she should have been on this list. She’s a role model for young children personally she’s my favorite.

Emily Exactly! I feel like you have to have more of a teenage perspective to relate to Rapunzel, and I wish they had taken that into account.

need to give Merida and belle more credit.
I feel like y'all completely missed the point of Tangled.
Please, elaborate! I wasn't sure what to think after I saw Tangled.
People who weren’t abused don’t even comprehend all that Rapunzel had to overcome to earn her happy ending...

@@loverrlee THANK YOU! I know this about Rapunzel but this made me think about Cinderella too. Tangled is an amazing movie. At the end the "prince" didnt save her but they saved each other. Its my personal favorite - I guess I relate to her more, and her determination is wonderful. The romance is developed throughout the movie as well.

Mulan was not a real person, Mulan is a poem

OMG, I THINK THE SAME. That's why I'm crying when everyne underestimate princesses like Anna or Rapunzel.
Period!!
And Moana ALWAYS makes me cry! Amazing movie!!
Im glad that we all agree that Tangled deserved to be ranked higher
She deserves so much more love. The film is great and while the soundtrack isn't that memorable(actually fudge that, "I See The Light" is iconic, fight me lol) the film's story, characters, comedy, and overall look/animation is amazing!

We're all doing Eugene proud by accepting this as an unshakable truth.
Lemme go on a rant for my homegirl Rapunzel:
Honestly, she's one of the most relatable princesses.
Yeah I feel like they discounted way too many of Rapunzel's great moments.
She would have been fine on her own if not for the abuse of Mother Gothel that made her doubt herself.
@@callmeyourdai5y518 Yes! He didn't come into the tower to save her!
and at the end, she sacrifices her own life/freedom in order to heal and save Eugene!
RAPUNZEL ENDS UP SAVING HIM!!!!! LIKE THE GIRL SAVES THE GUY WOW
Prince Seokjin Thank you!!! Yes!!!
Yes thank you for this comment.
100% agree, putting her below Ariel and Anna is wrong to her underlying morale and not just “oh well they’re quirky and so relatable!”
truer words have never been spoken
I agree. I don’t know you guys but I felt like Merida should’ve been higher too. I also think moana should’ve been higher than jasmine
PERIOD
Don't forget when she fearlessly yelled at a ton of Vikings because they weren't listening to her!
I’m glad everyone is Ticked off with the Tangled thing, Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies
i watched tangled 4 times in a row once
Me too!
and it doesn't help with the fact that i watched the series too bc we get to know more abt her and her relationship with eugene and her parents
right?? if you have to see it from her perspective, she has been taught a whole lie her whole life and is taught that's her mom and the real world is scary. yet she still manages to defy her mom, go live her dreams to see the lights, saves Eugene's ass, has a cool frying pan, and was willing to give up her life to her mom to heal Eugene and let him live
Me too, I absolutely love Rapunzel
I am quite similar to her with how she does art, had quite long hair and got it chopped off, and I just fricken love her
I've probably have watched Tangled over 20 times by now
I would rank Rapunzel higher because even though she was locked up for most of her life, she remained social and curious and doesn't care about what other people might think of her.
Flynn didn't really save her from her tower, he was just the first thing that Rapunzel encountered that could get her out of the tower without getting completely lost in the forest.
Agreed, and even then she was the one who tied him up and made him help her lol
Yesssss this is the only one that I thought should have ranked higher
She was self taught !!! Let me tell ya’ll how DIFFICULT it is to “map out stars”
Jaxay Sky plus Stockholm syndrome is a bitch so it’s not like she stayed there and could’ve escaped, she stayed because she was terrified of the outside world
And she extorted him to get his help. lol
“if you could turn into a bear would ya” gold
@@ofthestars7007 haha, its true I haven't seen the movie in ages. all I know is the "I want more" song, does not feel like a "power song" like they were describing, it sounds painfully ungrateful and privileged lol
also the father daughter relationship is saddening 😂 maybe realistic, but why can't at least movies show how to respect each other?? just some more thoughts🤪
belle is nothing compared to ariel
@@thevomitking9127 I'm bout to throw hands! Belle is super intelligent and has self worth. Yes they both want more and different lives, but Belle is way more selfless. She traded her life for her father's. Ariel left hers and disobeyed him. She wanted to discover the human world, but she dis it in an irresponsible way. She left everyone who cared about her and temporarily hurt them. Belle is the best. No contest.
Eugene: **Ranks Alcoholic Drinks**
Also Eugene: **Ranks Disney Princesses**
I think his still on drugs!!!
*he’s not his*
In Cinderella's defense, she wanted to just go to the ball to have fun, she didn't really want to meet the prince. She didn't even wait in line to go and be introduced to him, she was exploring the castle and he came up to her. The prince was a bonus.
Emma Frost
Yeah
@Athena Tait you are absolutely on point. I also disliked how they only praised women who displayed masculine energy, like Mulan while completely overlooking feminine energy like Cinderella. Cinderella is the most relatable character.
Amen. People always forget that. She's the best.
"if you could change into a bear, would ya?" --best line
Joshua Chin right i cant stop laughing
I love that line
I died
the way that the 'worst' sign is right in front of alex is so fitting lol
The fact that they framed each picture just for this video is just dedication lol
Tara Weston-Webb and to reiterate Tara, MEN IS SCARY
Woah that is deep
Belle basically faced two villains. She is selfless while Ariel is selfish
Tara Weston-Webb I couldn’t agree more
Cinderella wanted a night out she didn't even know who the prince was. She said "I need to meet the prince" as her excuse to run away. Sis wanted to go clubbing
Facts!😂
This comment had me laugh so hard I woke my brother up 😂
U right sis when u right u right
I didn't even understand why she was not the last one with Aurora, she never stood against her mother or sisters and always did what they wanted and only found the "strengh" to go out when her fairy made her a dress.
At least rapunzel could stand against her mother at the end alone and Snow White even run away by herself which Cindarella could not, that bothered me sooo much 😂
Don't forget, because she's cleaned the chateau for so long as far as she can remember, if you need any advice on what cleaning products to get or how to do certain chores, she's the girl to talk to
rapunzel is TWELFTH ?! i cannot this rank is so wrong lmao

-Eugene 2019
Eugene looking like Mulan's older and sassier sister. Such a queen.
ravioli VIXXen Eugenia*
18:00 it's not her fault she was trapped, she was a prisoner under her abusive and manipulative mother, just like cinderella, and eventually denied her and broke free in the end. Even though she's not my favourite princess I think she deserves wayyyyyy higher, just because so many girls can relate to feeling manipulated or used by their mothers at some point just like she was
I can’t believe y’all did Rapunzel this dirty
G white people struggle, but their struggles have nothing to do with their race or skin color.
@G she had to struggle to even HAVE a life. She was kidnapped. Black people arent the only ones who struggle believe it or not.
Chikina they glossed over the fact that she kicked a lot of ass. Especially during the flight from the Snuggly Duckling. Also even if she wasn’t physically strong, she was strong in her heart which is just as important
The movie as a whole was really good though, I love the music and Flynn ryder is like one of my fav disney characters
Plus her frying pan action was great 10/10. Makes her like Mulan in that she's one of the only princesses who properly fights
If “I’m right, you’re wrong, shut up” isn’t already merch it needs to be
Yes
I’d love that on a mug also that’s gonna be a meme now heheeee😂😂😂😂🥰

But also, didn't they get reverse snapped?
“WORST” lining up in front of Alex was actually a foreshadowing. Lol
rapunzel's ranking made me sad but seeing how much everyone loves her in the comments made me happy again
Same
She escaped an abusive household if that isnt powerful, i dont know what is. She also saves Eugene
"If you could change into a bear, would ya?" I died laughing.
I would actually argue that Belle doesn’t have Stockholm Syndrome because she doesn’t take the Beast’s shit and shuts him down multiple times. She doesn’t start to fall for him until he starts being kind and treating her as an equal.
Kay Styles THANK YOU! I’m so annoyed when people will use that argument
yes! A more correct syndrome is Lima Syndrome, which is more or less the opposite of Stockholm Syndrome, where the captor starts to sympathize with his/her captive. The Beast changed for Belle, she stayed the same strong woman she was from the beginning of the movie
THANK YOU!
YES PREACH FINALLY
YES omfg kinda disappointed at Eugene that he agrees with the Stockholm Syndrome
What Alex should have said:
“ Hi I’m Alexandria and I hail from studio city & I like the princesses with the pretty dresses who are also homewreckers”
“Moana did all that shit by herself.”
Maui: *Your Welcome Time Stops*
I KNOW
He really only helped a bit in the end by keeping Te Kā distracted, and blocking her fire-rock-projectile-thing so it didn't hit Moana one time.
Okay, and teaching her how to do the wayfinding too.
eugene: they really should have titled it "bear"
me: BEARIDA
Haley Taylor look at all ur likes

I love how about half the comments here are defending Rapunzel. YES. Rapunzel is AWESOME. Tangled is literally one of my favorite movies EVER
Vroni Rom Yeah.. Eugene just said “she was saved by Flynn”. She wasn’t saved, she decided to leave on her own because she wanted to see the lanterns up close. Flynn was just a freaking tour guide/body guard.
“She didn’t need no man, she BECAME the man. And then she did BETTER THAN THE MAN.”
my only opinion is rapunzel should get more credit for escaping her emotionally abusive mother figure! shes badass for that!
honestly! her storyline is so slept on
Teshé Rolle agreed, she's in my top 3 at least. especially in the animated series they do on disney she's even more independent and badass and you get to see the trauma she's overcoming. overall a rly good character
Right!! I have the sun tattooed because it is my favorite movie and she is my favorite princess!! She holds her own and makes a friend with everyone she came across. She was just being both literal and non-literal ray of sunshine!
Ok but I feel like I’m tangled it wasn’t just rap being saved by Flynn, in the end they saved each other and helped each other grow
Agreed love all the characters
So none of y’all actually watched Tangled huh
