    when I see family photos I always feel sad that they are leaving the family. I hold our family history in trust for the next generation and can only hope they will pass it on in their turn. Thanks for the care you show for these treasures. Lynn in the UK

    You said those airplane drawings were from a kid and you could be right. My Dad was born in 1933 and he told me if you could draw a Flash Gordon Spaceship kids would pay you up to 5 cents! Pretty cool! I love flea markets like this. I sometimes find old fly fishing stuff that I buy
    I also look for labels and advertising that are about fish or fly fishing. Fruit crate labels unused salmon can labels. Paper doesn't take up much room. I also like to look for Wood Block Prints in old books with that pulpy broen paper, very old say early 2900 or even a bit earlier. Wood Cut Block prints are. Easily identifiable.
    If you ever want to sell a pair of large shears (Scissors) like those you bought and you don't mind shipping to Canada let me know! 😀

    Hello Renee. That was fun being with you and on the hunt for treasure. I so wanted the ceramic piece with the squirrel on it . It was cute. I love squirrels we rescued a baby squirrel when I was 7 maybe lightning had it the tree they were in and the Mother was killed and the other baby . We found it and it's tail was hurt but we fed it with a eye dropper until it was able to eat nuts and things . We had him for a year and then he got out . But he didn't go far we would leave him food by his tree. Such a wonderful pet he was my buddy he even slept with me . I'm sorry I ramble sometimes . But you found great stuff hope to see more postcards from your finds. Stay safe and have a great night📷📷📷📷📜📜📜📜🌻🎥🎥🎥🎥💖💕💖💕🌺🌺🌺💯💯💯💯

    Nice to see that you visited Berks County. I've been waiting for Leesport to open. Now you need to check out Adamstown, the Antiques Capital, USA. There are quite a number of antique (and collectible) shops. As well as the outdoor places. If you can, this week is their Extravaganza. Because of what is going on in the world, some are not having the big blowout sales, but all the places are still open, and should have their discounts. If you want advice on where to go, just let me know!!!! Besides living in the area, I am an antique dealer and have stuff in three shops in Adamstown. Happy Hunting!!!!!

    I just heard today, if I wanted to travel to New Jersey, being a Californian, I'd have to Quarantine for 14 days before I could pay you a visit. Out here, we are one of the "hot spots", especially Southern Ca. The old card album is a nice find. I often wounder how many hundreds of family photo histories end up in dumpsters. I do miss the stores and sales...all dead issues out here!

    • @elainecleaver2941

      Just some light oil on the scissors. Rust is usually a tiny spot that bleeds out. Let it set with oil and wipe off or put under hot faucet water and soap. Wipe and dry good. Always keep a spot of oil on screw area. I have been sharpening for 22 years

    01:40 I don't think that lighter was sterling but I'd look anyway. 02:13 Railroad safety manuals? (railfan's daughter instinct kicks in .. what are you getting for these? :-) ) 06:05 pushes a jewelry box out of the way???? As for buying stuff, one of my rules is "Buy your toys from the jewelry dealer and jewelry from the toy guy", i.e. buy from a reputable seller who knows one area of collecting really well, but just wants what you're after off of their table.

    I like the scissors.
    The scissors and matches might sell on eBay or Etsy.
    My older brother use to collect matches back in the 80s. He had hundreds and hundreds of packs. My other brother and I use to use to take some out of the boxes and use them to light our cigarettes. He had a round box of matches like yours but I think his had snowmen on it, if my memory serves me correctly.

    As a quilter I love the scissors. As far as the purple heart I can't believe the man was selling it. They each have a number on them. He could call the military and see if there is a family member who may want it. I know if it belonged to a relative of mine of would want it. It may just be lost or stolen.

    • @michelealdridge7436
      @michelealdridge7436 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I read another reply about it being illegal and being fined about having selling and having military medals you didn't earn. I thought that may be true but wasn't sure.

    • @brianh.9268
      @brianh.9268 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes Purple Hearts were engraved with the recipients name on the back side, but I don’t believe they were ever numbered and registered due to the huge numbers that have been awarded over time. Not illegal to possess or sell, where a few have gotten into trouble is falsely claiming that they earned a medal and wearing it (often on a uniform) in the “stolen valor” types of scenarios. Best, B

    • @michelealdridge7436
      @michelealdridge7436 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is so sad that things like the medals and Purple heart are thrown away. I would hope that if No family member down the line wants my husband's military awards they take them somewhere more more dignified than a dumpster to get rid of them. Maybe a library for display or. Local VFW post with his flag since he was a life member.

    I have several candy boxes of greeting cards. Would it be better if I had them put in an album for sale or leave them individual? They are used and most have the envelope with post date on them.

    I love your videos and seeing what you find and buy! I am curious, however, why you like to buy other people’s photographs and cards. What is it you’re drawn to? I accidentally received someone else’s photo album for Christmas this year and it fascinated me! I can see where you’re coming from but would love to know more.

      I have loved history since I was little, so I purchase old photographs to try and discover the history of the people in the photos and/or to save them from being forgotten to history. I love the backdrops, the clothing, the idea of how a photo was taken back then...

    Which flea market was that? I must have missed when you said. Looks great....although....I believe I would not have enough willpower to pass on the baked goods...LOL. ***** Ah Leesport. Yes....I don't pass on the baked goods....LOL. Haven't been there in several years....think a small road trip is in order. And the fall is a stellar time to be there.

    One of those scissors might look nice arranged in a shallow shadow box over some vintage cloth scraps and vintage paper pattern envelopes, or perhaps over a vintage paper doll cutout book.

    Will you take the wedding cards out of the album to sell or keep it together?

    Love everything you got - just wondering, why did you pass up the paper Halloween Owl at 1:37 ?

      I'll bet it was because it had tape all over it that would be difficult to remove without wrecking the owl ... or, it was a repro. They make reprints of a lot of that old cute Halloween stuff.

    At 1:35 you picked up a blue United States of America military medal box. Wonder what was in it?
