I'd say with the talent that the Firewalk Studios dev team has, it's less like a college team and more like a rising all-stars situation. Yeah the team has a lot to prove but there are some people on that team who were a part of that 96 Bulls team that decided to come over and help the rising all-stars hone their skills and look to create a dynasty. Dude we need DBS in that kakarot game like yesterday 😂
Not understanding your logic. Why would you prefer to buy a college team with no star players when you can buy the 96 Chicago Bulls. Yeah you spend a lot more money for the Bulls but they come with Jordan and 6 championship rings. You immediately sell out every arena because of the hype train. The legacy will always generate money. Your investment has a guaranteed return 10 fold. From a billion dollar business stand point, share holders want to see a well mapped road to success, not wishful thinking.
Im not talking about from a company perspective. As a consumer it is better for is for a publisher to buy a smaller studio. An acquisition does more for a smaller studio than an established one.

A quick LinkedIn search shows that they have former senior leaders from Activision, Bungie, and Bethesda. Hell their Director of IP came from Wizards of The Coast as the former Narrative Lead and Game Designer. The seems far from a situation where Sony just saw a bunch of college students with a project and money and said "hmmm, wanna take a gamble?". I completely agree with what you're saying but think of all the times a team gambled on a rookie and it really paid off, especially once that rookie gets paired with an experienced vet.
On the flipside, this could all backfire for Sony and I could be stuck eating crow...
Killzone VR?
Sony didn’t buy this studio for “talent”? They seen what they are developing and liked what they seen, pulled out the check book to lock them down. It makes no sense to buy a studio that hasn’t done anything to just assume that they are talented? 🤦♂️ .. they definitely seen something that made them want to acquire them.
If they saw the product and were impressed them that must mean the devs are talented since they made it.
@@BrokenGamezHDR no! They just want the game.. the talent can easily leave and do something else. It’s happened before. Stop trying to fit your narrative 🤷♂️
@@Sorry_ImTruthfulwhy would they leave? It’s not like they’d be working for Xbox
@@pilau1749 IDK? Retirement or just venture off to do their own thing 🤷♂️.. what kind stupid question is that 🤦♂️
