@@CampingwiththeColes - let’s go! 😁 We just got back from Marten River, near Temagami. Holy black flies, horse flies, deer flies and mosquitoes ! 😱 We won’t go back there in June. Yikes!
@@CampingwiththeColes - wise choice. I knew you guys were smart! 😉 We were there 18 years ago and it was in July. I don’t recall so many bugs as we experienced this time. I have many battle wounds. The black flies are the worst! They crawl under your hairline, your glasses, into your socks, etc. Found that Vick’s Vaporub worked the best to create a barrier in those areas. We were told this was the 3rd hatch this year! I wore 2 of those fake dragonflies on my hat, and that seemed to help with the horse flies and deer flies. We also used our “Thermocells.” We were really thankful for our new screened tent, and using the AC in the camper as this was all during a heat wave!
I wasn’t expecting that many trees to be taken down, however they are planting new ones. This park has a great trail for walking our dog, the path is manageable for most people with spots to exit back into the park if needed.
It was very nice meeting you folks at McRae and we agree in the north campground you need the outer ring for the privacy. I think you will like Bass Lake.
Great video guys! I'm surprised Lake Simcoe is that clean and clear. I went camping at Sibbald Point Provincial Park and the water is cloudy. It might have been which way the wind was blowing but cloudy water turned me off at that Park. See you on the next one!
That's interesting. When we were at Sibbald Point two years ago the water was crystal clear. Maybe we lucked out at both parks at opposite ends of the lake and had the wind blowing the right way for us.
no black tank flush ? , bummer , we are going there in three weeks ... btw , how are the interior roads in the park ? some parks have terrible interior roads .

We just came back from McCrae on Monday so we just missed you. We also stayed in the South campground. We agree with your rating, opinion and overall thoughts on the park. But....when we arrived we were never given the information you were given. When we arrived at our site I was so upset, absolutely no grass! We were aware of the tree removal but didn't know the grass was now gravel! I called the gate about changing our site but he was not helpful at all, we were never offered a refund (which I would've taken as we were booked for 9 days). We did make the best of the situation, but it is not a park we will return to. As always, love your videos.
That's too bad that they didn't give you the pamphlet that they gave us. As we understood it, everyone was to be getting the pamphlet explaining the ongoing work in the park. We probably wouldn't go back to McRae because there are just so many other parks that are more to our liking. If we were looking for a park in the Orillia area for a specific reason we'd likely choose Bass Lake.
We live in Barrie so it is close for a quick getaway. The dogs love the water access points. Also a bonus they have doggie 💩 bags available at each end of the trail. Thanks for your take on this park.

We have Rogers and had excellent cell service on our phones, TV and computer. We were in South Campground.
We have Rogers and got great service from the north campground. We watched shows using our firestick and had great cell.service.
So great to finally meet you. Can't wait to see you clock in the trailer and the windspinner blowing in the breeze.
Those were thoughtful, awesome gifts! 😊
Dang! Wish I had known you were here. 😁
Would have been great to meet you.
Maybe at another park some time.

@@OutdoorsygalO we try to stay as south as possible until August to avoid the biting bugs. We're a little soft these days.

Thanks for the review, saved us a trip. Hope you were camping this weekend was great weather.
Glad we could help. We weren't camping this weekend. We're jealous of people that were camping on this great weekend.
Great review. Does not look like my cup of tea either but a good stop for the night on route to northern parks.
“Wish I wasn’t the first person going through here today…” 😆 I knew what was coming.
Another great review, thanks.
It doesn't help when Cheryl walks in front of me either because I'm a foot taller than her.
@@CampingwiththeColes Just think of it as service to other campers that day. You took one for the team.
Thank you for another great video.
Our pleasure!
Heading to Mccrae in a week. Thanks for this video. It has been so helpful. You even showed us the site that we have reserved!
We'll that worked out pretty good then. Have a great trip.

The handout they give at the park said 10,000 trees came down and they planted 400 new trees.
@@CampingwiththeColes Yes We read that, I forgot to ask the office if another planting will happen next season. Enjoy this wonderful weekend.

love the site guys
Simcoe is a great lake, very unfortunate that the ash trees have to go. Thanks for the video
Yeah, it's a shame that so many trees had to come down.
What electric bikes do you normal use that I see in your other videos?
