This is a marvelous plane spotting site. We get some details about the planes in on screen. What sets On the Runway apart from almost all of the other plane spotting sites is the ATC being coordinated with the planes in real time and the human being telling us the destination to city and the arrival from city. This is fantastic. Cannot thank you enough.
I'm in Thailand today. That video is a little old. Some idiot was using a flash and the FAA called the police. I got the story from the security guard. They used to allow people that bought a parking space to take a few photos. That ended after the flash guy. But I haven't tried in 15 months or so
Nice to see an airplane heading to Santa Rosa. That airport has steadily been adding more flights and is a welcome alternative to the three other Bay Area airports.
Yes Alaska acquiring Sky West has opened up many new airports from San Diego. Two in Montana, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Monterey, Santa Rosa. All with the Embraer E75 work-horse.
@@scottturner891 Ya, I think its funny. One guy mentioned in a comment, hey I like your channel. Could you think about adding the age of the plane? I said sure, that's a great idea. Then you get a troll who says, you need lessons. When the plane lands it looks like an ant on my phone. I guess he doesn't realize there landing about 2 miles away. Ha ha. Oh well, I just ignore and delete the clowns. 99% encouraging comments. Plenty more to come. Please share with other "plane nerds" like me. Later, Joe
Im not an expert on SW. I know they have air crews based in San. Or at least they used too. My buddy used to be based here. As far as hangars, repairs etc.. That was always Phoenix. But SW and the 737 have always been a big part of San Diego. I just filmed a new flight San to Burbank. Hopefully with some nice connection times.
@@wagnerbejaranocarvalho9971 Yes, Southwest has a different operating plan. They have hubs and then they have "flight centers" San Diego is the later. Most airlines only have crews based at hubs. Southwest has crews based at many "flight center" airports like San Diego and Vegas. There are dozens of 1 hour direct flights from San Diego. It pays to keep crews in the area to cover sick calls, etc. Plus the San Diego crew can fly 1 hour and be at a dozen airports ready to work. They really are a great airline. One of the first to offer $20 fares, etc.. Just get on the plane and sit anywhere. Then they Spirit, Frontier, Easy-Jet etc.. Tried to beat them with $5 fares and $100 in add-ons. Southwest is more expensive these days, but with planning you can still travel RT for $200 to Hawaii from San Diego. No fee for bags.

Thanks for watching. No Japan and Thailand is on hold. 14 day hotel quarantine in Thailand. Japan was still closed for tourists
@@OnTheRunway Oof, maybe in 2022?

Southwest has no base in San Diego. However Alaska does even though SWA is the most dominant carrier there.
Alaska Airlines old livery
Yes, that looks sharp. I just filmed the Russel Wilson Alaska livery. If you don't watch American football, he plays for Seattle. Alaska's hub
