I've played for 40 years and this is not only the best warm up and chop building exercise on TH-cam, but and amazing bridge to help "put it all together!" Don't sleep on this! It could be your lightbulb moment!
I'm only a few years behind ya, and you are spot on! Bernth is so great at the way he constructs lessons and the practice material to go with them. Being subscribed to his Patreon is far and above the best $$$ a person can spend on guitar lessons imo.

Hey man really thank you this is what I needed I'm new on the channel and I'm trying to do the others routines that you have in the channel, but I wonder for how long I have to do them? I was thinking on doing each them for a month but dunno if it's much time, can you tell me please?
I heard that you are not using a real pick, that it's just a piece of air you hold between your fingers and that's what makes it so smooth, is it true?
I started yesterday [sort of], but I wasn't able to do much of it Today, I spent about 4 hours getting through everything [except the last exercise, I'm too tired lol] Turns out that I'm able to do WAY more than I thought I was able to, I just need to not give up The backing track [drums + bernth playing] helps SO much I love your videos a lot, and I mean a lot a lot, they've helped me out and I've already seen improvement, even though it's just the 2nd day
Life became insane for me over the last year with work/home renovations. Finally have time to re-sub his patreon. Excited to spend my entire weekend on his page.
@@Bernthguitar Thank man! Your patreon page is great. I appreciate you, and how you breakdown seemingly unreachable goals into reachable mini-goals. Edit:Elevation is pure fire btw.
Notation: when notating right hand (picking hand) finger picking, try employing classical guitar symbols PIMA (for thumb, index, middle and ring fingers) instead of leaving the notation blank for these hybrid picking situations. great channel -- thanx.
Been practicing this for 3 weeks now, first 2 weeks on normal speed like the video, now going for the 2 times repetition and 1.25x speed, is really really helpful! Thanks
i can' even do this at 70 bpm but i finally did it at 50 bpm, its tough to do 16th (I'm thinking that's what these are) notes on a 5/8 time signature Thank you for posting this, it has been one of the best instructional videos for me and I've been self taught my whole life but never really took the time to really learn this instrument until now. Thanks again!
What i like about the exercises is that they're melodic and pleasant to listen to as go through them. I really like the Super Mario feel of block 2, its very fun.
Apart from ther alternate picking, I didn't manage to even do the slowest bpm of every exercise thank you man, you provided me a fun challenge! Let's see tomorrow day 2: - A bit of the warm-up at 70 bpm, better than yesterday - Full legato block, but I need to improve since my technique is a bit rough - Sweep still didn't manage to do it fully at 60 bpm, the last sweep is getting me - Full alternate picking, but I'm missing the transitions with my left hand, need to improve - I still need to have the Tapping block in my arms to do it with the video, still struggling with the pattern - My hybrid picking is trash. Gonna work on that. Day 3- Managed to do the warm up at 70 and 80 bpm but with some slippering Full legato block again, trying to improve the sounding of it Sweep at 60 and 80 bpm, the last measure pattern is getting me everytime Full alternate picking block, trying to correct my thumb position to ensure best performance Managed to do the full tapping block Hybrid picking is still a struggle
Wow brother you upload very nice vdos i am proud of you because i found only this channel where best workouts are given thankyou so much brother love you keep going 😊❤️
Man this is the BEST lesson lots of different things to work on. I feel like past beginner lessons its hard to find the next step but for me this is exactly what I need on multiple different techniques more than what I even expected. This video is deffinitely leveling me up
Any tips, tricks, advice, or exercises on keeping the pinky finger closer to the fretboard? Apparently mine likes to get fancy like it's drinking tea and hangs way out in the air away from the fretboard. I've struggled to correct it and it prevents me from performing quicker transitions.
day 1: 70bpm. - Was challenging getting my right hand hitting the right strings. Point of the exercise lol but 70bpm was challenging but was able to complete it - Hard trying to focus on the notes I needed to play next
For the first exercise, if you need more of a challenge, try using fingers 2 3 and 4 instead of 1 2 3 for the whole thing. This ensures the pinky gets a workout too
I was looking for your videos the other day but couldn’t remember your name. I was looking under Bjorne guitar lesson. Luckily this vid popped up in my suggestions today. These have been really good instructional videos good for a refresher after not playing for a while.
I've been practicing this daily for well over 2 MONTHS and still am only able to play the first 70bpm exercise, and the first block #4 exercise, and only if slowed down to 75% video speed. I think I have a disability.
Really nice workout I will definitely put this in my practicing routine. Part 2 reminds me a bit of the SuperMario cave theme. You could add another guitar to do the coin sound 😁
Hi Bernth, apologies - what is the best way to orient one's pick for both ascending and descending arpeggios in this please (thinking about pick-escape in particular when moving between strings)? I've tried different options but can't quite find the optimal! Really appreciate your time and help. Thank you!
Yo bernth , thank you for the lesson. It would be helpful if you could post which lesson to search for on patreon because it is a maze from hell to navigate and find a lesson there. Thanks.
i see what you did there to avoid gettin stuck in the strings. i saw a slanting video guide of a guy studying michail angelo batio slanting picking technique. was really cool. you know it?
I've been playing for 2 years. I've got to the point where I seem stuck and can't get any better. So frustrating that no matter how much time I put into it I just can't seem to improve. I practice everyday for an hour or even 2. I originally started playing guitar back in 1979 but stopped after a few months. Then in 2013 I decided to buy another guitar but only played it once a week. But I retired from work 2 years ago and had the time to study self taught. Since then I've nearly spent everyday practicing. But now I seem to have hit a brick wall and don't seem to improve any. I can't seem to speed up. I've watched many of your videos and you make it look so easy. I've done fingers exercises but with no improvement. Any advice would be much appreciated because I don't want to give up on my playing.
Honestly I’m way in over my head trying these out I’ve only been playing for like 4 months but if I can even get this in quarter notes up to 80 or 90 bpm I’ll be ecstatic

25 for me and I play very well. To people wanting to learn this it's a fantastic lesson. Boy wish I had you tube growing up.
You've played guitar longer than I've been alive, and I'm 34. That's pretty impressive lol

Accidentally had this on 2X speed, thought I sucked! Slowed it down, I still suck! 🤘🤣
i end up spending 30 minutes trying to get the muscle memory for these exercises before i can try faster tempos

five of the eight arpeggios use the pinky :) but what you suggested is also a very good idea tbh

should i focus on bringing one exercise to speed at a time (per day) or should i do all of them per day, how many exercises per day is too much?
