- I give you a quick review of both Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning AND Two Point Hospital Jumbo Edition for the Nintendo Switch! The second one is just about the best business-simulator I have ever played, and the first one is a game that gives me all sorts of Elder Scrolls/Skyrim/Oblivion vibes. This is one you have to see! You could try Natural Doctrine on the PS4...a roundbased strategy rpg with an extreme difficulty, even on easy mode😅
I like it because I end up watching a review of something I normally wouldn’t.

Kingdoms of Amalur is one of my favorite games in my life. I'm always glad when I see other playing it. I'm currently 75 hours into my current playthrough of the game

It's an awesome game!!
Its amazing been playing it since I pre-ordered forever!! Just got reawakening since it was updated last year still amazing one of the best fantasy combats to be played.
The only reason it's not more popular is because the marketing for this game was practically non-existant, that's why it's a hidden gem for me. I love this game so much, the different regions and music for each of the 5 regions: Dalentarth, Plains of Erathell, Detyre, Klurikon, and finally Alabastra. The unique side quests and faction quests, and then you have the main story just wow. I love how in the faction quests you slowly progress in the weaker areas to the stronger areas through out that faction's story, kind of like Octopath Traveler. I Haven't even gotten to the DLC yet, Legend of Dead Kel is hands down the best DLC I have ever played in any game EVER. This game to me is my favorite WRPG even over Skyrim and Witcher 3.

I recently bought Kingdoms of Amalur and I am obsessed! I try and play a few quests a day because I don’t have a lot of time but if I did I could easily play this all day!

If reviewers had actually played the game before slagging it off eight years ago, we probably would have had Kingdoms of Amalur II and III by now. Ignorant "reviewers" are panning the remaster too, so we'll never get a sequel.

Always nice to see kingdoms of Amalur being appreciated. I completed it when it released on 2 consoles and the recent rerelease. I enjoyed it so much this time since the dlcs were included in the game and one of them provides some excellent stat boosts while upgrading the keep to its max.
Original KOA Reckoning was and is still amazing! I’ve been playing it since it came out and I still play it today. The only thing I wished they would’ve done with the revamp was to make it co-op but I get why it’s not. Glad it finally got on your radar.
Another great video review and advice to change camera settings. I will probably buy K of A today as your reviews always make me want to purchase the games you review. It looks like a great game and I won’t be able to resist now. Lol. I bought two points hospital after your other review on it but really haven’t played it other than a few minutes. Great review with genuinely helpful tips as always. I’d only just noticed the camera adjustment options for the game, wish I’d of seen this video earlier and I’d of known back when I got it. Didn’t get very far when I picked this up last year because Pokémon Snap distracted me and eventually forgot I’d bought this.

Holy shit, thank you for finally reminding me what the name of this game was. I recalled hearing that it was released on the switch but I couldn't remember the name. I kept confusing it with Kingdom Come Deliverance. Years ago I picked Dragon's Dogma over this, but now I've been looking into finally getting it now that it too is on the switch

hey Ircha! Great video. Kingdoms of Amalur reminds me of Fable; the style of gameplay and music too. I believe it came out around the same time as Skyrim, in fact, a few months after. a few months after that, Capcom released Dragon's Dogma. Skyrim clearly took the spotlight of the other two games, even if it was completely broken. I'm just glad that these games get a second chance on the Switch.
You're right, KOA is more like Fable than Skyrim. I prefer KOA and Dragon's Dogma to Skyrim. They both have much better combat and are more colorful. In Skyrim, you often walk through snowy areas that give you a black-and-white color palette for several minutes at a time. It's often ugly, whereas KOA is gorgeous through and through. When I turn it on, I immediately feel glad to be there.
@@thewingedavenger1007 I feel Skyrim had a bigger budget to promote the and got out first. Plus it was riding on the notoriety of the Fallout games, at least in the west.

I had no idea they remastered Kingdoms of Amalur! I played that game endlessly when it was originally released. It's definitely aged but the design is still solid! I was playing the original not too long ago and it was so nostalgic. Very few rpgs in that style give me such a nice complete package in the way it did.

The story was written by R.A Salvatore, art was done by Todd Mcfarlane who created spawn but also drew alot of spiderman comics as well, and Curt Schilling famous baseball player put the idea out there and the money.
R.A. Salvatore's books are very fun sword and sorcery. I recommend everyone start with Menzoberranzen (the first of the Dark Elf Chronicles).
Thank you for talking about Reckoning. That game is so forgotten b/c it came out 3 months after Skyrim & all the stuff around 38 Studios, which didn’t make Reckoning but owned the studio that did, Big Huge Games.
Whenever someone asks for an underrated game, I always say Valkryia Chronicles & KoA: Reckoning.
I haven't played Valkyria Chronicles, so maybe I have to! 😁 👍
@@ircha VC 1 and 4 are on Switch, but I know at launch the switch version of VC 1 didn't run as well as the PS4 and PC versions. Not sure about now as the Switch is my No. 3 system only for exclusives.
I remember falling in love with Kingdoms of Amalur on PS3! I always loved how the combat felt in comparison to the elder scrolls. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the Re-Reckoning sitting on a shelf at the store

Kingdoms of Amular came out at the same time as Skyrim. I got it on PS3 and I adored it and platinumed it. I got the collectors edition on PS4 and then when I heard it was coming to Switch, I pre-ordered it. I just love it on the Switch.

LOVE KoA and have been playing recently too. I played it back when it first released and put well over 300 hours into it. Been wanting a console port to current gen forever and was so happy they did one.

Thanks for the camera settings suggestions. I found Amalur cool but REALLY uncomfortable to play and using your camera options solved the problem.

I, too, recently got into Re-Reckoning and I'm having a blast. I demolished the two original expansions and am working my way to beating the main campaign. Glad you're enjoying it. I was lucky enough for this to be free for PS Plus members.

I used to play Theme Hospital (1997 PC version) and this is reason why Two Point Hospital looks so familiar :-) This video reminded me that it is time to retrieve Xbox 360 version of Kingdoms of Amalur from backlog and start to play it!
I got my daughter Pokémon lets go eevee yesterday for her birthday. Its pretty fun. We enjoy the simple 2 player it has. Its perfect for a parent and child, when the child only wants to play also but doesn't HAVE to keep progressing also.
I remember playing Hospital's demo on PS1 and being so totally hooked. Replaying the demo over and over again. I don't remember why I never asked my parents to buy the game.
Great video. Kingdoms of amalur seems like Baldurs Gate with Realtime action combat and no party wich sounds preety cool. Would you consider posting a screenshot of your camera settings for kingdoms of amalur as a community post. It is a little tedious searching for the exact moment to pause.

I played Kingdoms of Amalur in 2012 I actually bought one of the physical CE's mine game with gaming dice (which I use in D&D tabletop) and a set of Tarot Cards based in on the game. Loved this game. It was actually a prequel to the MMO that was supposed to release however the studio imploded about 3 to 4 months after the release of Amalur. I'm very glad the assets etc were bought up and am hoping that THQ Nordic does something with this. The entire would building was done by R. A. Salvatore and the art was overseen by Todd McFarlane (of the Spawn graphic novels).
Also my favorite fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, helped make Kingdoms of Amular... and also the famous artist Todd Mcfarlane helped too,,, the dude who created and draws Spawn comics. 🤓
Love his books! I have all the Drizzt Do'Urden ones! Didn't know he helped in the Kingdom of Amular game thanks for the info.
@@TinyHayley90 Who's your favorite drow characters. I like Drizzt, Jarlaxle, and Kimmuriel Oblodra bc he seems to have no emotion. Oh and Archmage Gromph Baenre bc he is the best at the arcane and knows it.

It's the fast and fluid combat that really makes it stand out imo, and they've had some recent patches that helped performance. It's my favorite game of the genre because of the great combat.
Yeah, KOA has combat that is far beyond what the Elder Scrolls ever produced. It's on the level of the best Zelda games. I agree, it's the best action RPG ever, along with Breath of the Wild though ;)

I agree with you, I just finished Dragon Dogma and started this one and what a blast I had with DD as well as with this one. As a person that tried Skyrim and couldnt like I am happy I am loving Reckoning.
One thing you forgot that helps a LOT is unlocking the mini map so it turns with the view of the character.
In Kingdoms of Amalur, the melee weapons you like to use is kind of like Kratos in the God of War series. I picked up this game today on sale on the eShop because you and RTG 85 recommended it.

I had KoA marked on my wish list then eventually erased it because I tend not to buy games that have no NG+. After watching this video, I might put it back on and wait for a sale 😂
It's a good game. The lack of NG+ imo isn't a big deal, playing through all the content in this game takes forever. It's ludicrously huge.

@@Shaoife I always felt it was more along the lines of what you'd get if Fable and Elder Scrolls had a baby. Your mileage may vary, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with it. Everyone I know that's tried it has enjoyed it

The main reason this game flopped on its initial release wasn't so much bad management as the reviews it got by huge TH-camrs. Angry Joe in particular torpedoed the game with one of the most ignorant reviews I've ever seen. He said the word "Skyrim" a million times during his "review", when the game is actually far more similar to Oblivion. It's sad how much power stupid people have.
Watched your video and immediately bought kingdoms of amalur! I've never heard of it before and I'm a sucker for any game that let's me freely walk around a well-made fantasy world (which sadly for my wallet is a lot of them 😭)

wow, i used to play amalur on pc wayback 2013 really addictive game mechanics so vast and freedom of control the freestyle on every combat so enjoyable hope they also update or include the 3 dlc of the game

I have the original game in my backlog but now I'll have to check out the Re-Reckoning. :) I didn't know Kingdoms of Amalur had such a strong connection to Oblivion, that explains why it also bares such a strong resemblance to Divine Divinity II: Developer's Cut, fantastic! :)

Amazon recomended kingdoms of amalur to me and from the first second I was obsessed with it. Reminds me of elder scrolls as well.
I have Kingdoms of Amalur for Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4 SE (with a figurine of Alyn Shir), with all achievements and trophies. It is a great game, and I hope there will be more of it...

Great video! Kingdoms of Amalur is an awesome game. Lots of people back in the day just brushed it off, saying it was just an Elder Scrolls wannabe. They didn't even know that it had been designed by the Ken Rolston, the designer of Morrowind and Oblivion, which many believe to be the two best Elder Scrolls games. The combat in KOA is leagues ahead of any Elder Scrolls game, so I imagine that may be the reason why Rolston left Bethesda to make a new game without them. Anyway, even now that the game has been given a new lease on life, most reviewers are ignorantly snubbing it again, probably after playing it for only twenty minutes or less. I'm glad at least you and RGT85 were willing to give it a fair chance! Kudos!
