People begged for years and From Software finally delivered Dark Souls Remastered. So after these few years I've decided it's time to update my boss rankings. We'll be doing videos covering my fresh thoughts on the Top 10 Hardest Bosses in the Souls Series, Top 10 Easiest Bosses in the Souls Series, Top 10 Worst Bosses in the Souls Series, and the Top 10 Best Bosses in the Souls Series, all using updated footage from Dark Souls Remastered.

Pinwheel is one of the easiest bosses for me in the entire series.
Dark souls 3 bosses are among the most difficult for me because they move at Bloodborne boss speed as well as an insane chain of followups. The window of opportunity on most of the fights are so miniscule. Dark Souls 1 bosses are sluggish and predictable.

Malenia is a bit of an oddball because the fight can be near impossible or pretty diffecult depending on how good you are at dodging. If you can consistently dodge her the fight will be over quite quickly but if you don't she will heal off of you and the fight will take ages
@@Metawire61 The reason its hard is because the dodging is nearly impossible. It takes many, many times to get the timing down, unlike any other boss fight-it's not a matter of not panic rolling, it's a matter of the hit boxes being insane such that there almost isn't a place *to* dodge. The direction you dodge, the direction your moving after getting up from dodge, the requirement to dodge multiple times for some of the flurries make it very hard to deal with.
The thing keeping her back isn't that you can learn the dodging, it's that if you have the right build you can still trivialize it by having a big beefy shield and enough damage to simply smash her face in through the healing. Or, if your weapon art/magic is strong enough, you can keep your distance and let a spirit summons tank. Elden ring gives you a lot of tools to work with, and as such the game is never that hard.
But no matter how high a level you are Malenia will stomp your shit if you don't learn how to deal with waterfowl in some manner, and her healing means that a few mistakes make the fight much harder.
@@MrCharles7994 In that sense I would put her somewhere close to midir, in the "really tough to learn but kinda trivialized after learning" tier. She has tough dodge timings and hitboxes but if you can learn her timings she goes from seemingly impossible to a credible threat
@@Metawire61 less you're using mimic I wouldn't really say this fight is trivialized I've fought her for over 8 hours straight learning parry timing and dodge timing I can even dodge the waterfall bs all but perfectly at this point and I'm no pro but I've played every souls game and can say I've mastered just about every fight but melania is not one of them she's insanely hard to dodge consistently that's why all flawless no hit run only parry her to death

Just buy a PS4. They are super cheap these days.
Ive been on Xbox for about 11 years now and never had even the slightest bit of interest in any of the PS games. But then God of War 2018 and Horizon Zero Dawn released. So I bought a 1tb PS4, for 150? Bought those two games and didn't launch my Xbox until I finished both.
Now that I have, I rarely launch the PS4 since ill always stick with Xbox and idc for any of the other exclusives currently on PS4.
Ill still boot it up sometimes, but all multiplatformers I buy on Xbox anyway.
Long story short, I dont regret buying the PS4 because it was dirt cheap and I had a lot of fun in those two games

Guys I got a Ps4, and Bloodborne is everything I wanted. I think I like it more than Dark Souls.
Defiled Watchdog took me like 10-15 tries at most, but the defiled Amygdala took probably 50+ attemtps
fun story when I first played ds3 I struggled on aldritch for 110 attempts. in contrast it only took me 3 attempts to beat dancer. I still think the dancer is more difficult though, I just got lucky.
First time i played dark souls, i Was stuck for 10h in tauros demon, in other hand i defeated orstein and smough on The first trie.
The most infuriating thing about the amygdala is that it's just a recycled boss.

I actually never defeated Orphan of Kos on my first playthrough. I killed him but his lightning Killed me too, which results in a draw.

The only way I was able to defeat the Orphan is learn what the openings for parries & backstabs were; as is the case with every other humanoid boss fight, gun parries make the Orphan less of a chore than the LAST time I first fought him (where I sucked at parries in the game). Using a max-level Eye Rune, I basically won against the game by farming for a lot of awesome Blood Gems from the Winter Lanterns in all of the Nightmare areas.

It's so interesting how different the impressions can be... I never had a problem with Laurence or Orphan... got them at least in third try... but those Chalice dog in the list or bosses like Ornstein and Smough were nightmares ...

Give gravity and the camera in Bloodborne spots and you have the ultimate difficulty.

I actually had no idea bonking him in the head deals normal damage, so i just had a solid and very safe strat of smacking him on the rear legs and tail, I only have to worry when he runs away

For me, Amygdala with 50% life was more harder than Dog of the Olders

Whole heartedly agree with Orphan being number 1, no matter how many times I’ve played and beaten Bloodborne, that boss still fills me with dread and actual anxiety. Bloody thing is a real nightmare

Everyone has there own approach at bosses and i actually beat Orphan on my 3rd try. Unlike Darketer Midir and Laurence fhe First Vicar took me over 100 tries
One thong aboit Orphan is that tge blood rapture rune is glitched to give you a ton of health back on vicerals.

Personally, I dont even think Kalameet is harder than Artorias. I think Kalameet is only the 3rd hardest boss in dark souls 1.
I'm with you on that one, give him space and he slaps you around with his weird wiggly dick arm, get in close & he does that super juggle combo that ends with you getting smooshed with his wiggly jiggly, not to mention the stomps.
Artorias on the other hand was super easy, he has a really tight script that he faithfully stuck to making him very predictable
@@torre1451 fr bro. But Elfriede is like Manus but 10x. Especially in blackflame phase she doesn't give a single sec to relax and heal with that BS combo and the bloodborne speed that is too much for dark souls
@@vagoslordofcinder7861 Mabey, but the difference between Manus and friede is the possibility to stunlock and poise through friede. Friede is becomming an absolute joke when you fight her with a greatsword and your highest poise armor. Just attack when she attacks, so you trade hits and stunlock her, go for save backstabs and the fight is over. For me even fights like Gael or Nameless are harder than firede when i use this strategy
@@abdelhassangawaru9347 maybe. I have only fought hwr in ng+12 and 13 and i was dead in 2 hits so poise didn't really matter. But gael is was the hardest boss i have fought. (ng+12 too). Do you think he is harder than Kos? I haven't played the old hunters yet so i don't know what to expect of him

If any of you are playing Dark Souls 2 for the first time and you’re trying to kill the ancient dragon, just stay between the claws of his back left foot and attack. When he comes off of the ground, run towards his tail immediately. When he lands, go back to his back left foot. Repeat until he’s dead.
And also wear "gowers ring of protection" so if the flame does hit you, you won't get one shot while you're running towards the tail
I'd disagree. Better stay on the head while watching its wings. If the wings move, run away. After, run towards its head again as it usually uses straight fire breath. Then repeat
I died so many times against the Orphan that I got so good at dodging his moveset that I could do it without taking a single hit it was the second phase that always killed me but man conquering that boss is the true meaning of euphoria

I'm struggling for three days now, always die in the second phase. Sometimes in the first due to low focus or trying something new (ways to parry him etc.) What strategy did you use in the second phase? I read that 2H weapon works better in that phase but idk
@@oliverdiop7530 well for the most part I just dodged into him hit him once or twice then get back also try applying lightning to your weapon it works well against him I used the saw blade 2 handed (Don't remember the name)

Here's a tip for any greatsword/slow attack speed users for Raime. Put on Velstadt's armor set and Raime will immediately go into phase 2. That might sound like a bad thing for the higher amount of damage he'll deal, but it's far easier to dodge and stamina manage his phase 2 attacks.
Even after eons of corruption, Raime still remembers Velstadt's punches.

Every time he says Freed for Friede a part of my soul dies. Ariandel literally says her name in the fight. Ariandel is pronounced wrong as well, but it's more excusable since I think only one npc says it. It's Ari-andle like handle. There's no emphasis on the "del" part of it.

For some reason when I first played DS2 I consumed all the Souls of a Giant only to find out that I kinda needed them to kill Vendrick....So I had to use the bonfire ascetic to respawn the Ancient Dragon like 5 times.

I did the same thing except i didnt know how the souls affected your fight with vendrick so i just thought it was meant to be like that. I fought vendrick with 1 soul in my inventory. let me tell you what. THATS the hardest fight. i went no armor with 2 +10 greatswords (the ugs thats name is greatsword lul) one with lightning one with fire and i fuckin went to town on those ankles. (went no armor bc even with armor he would one shot me and with my weapons and low equip weight no armor let me fast roll and look badass) dont fuck w vendrick without at least 3 souls. i do it with 4 everytime cuz i save the fucking dragon till the end. easiest boss for me tho. Giant king or whatever DS2. i beat that thing so many times soul farming (cuz you get a bonfire a everytime so its basically no punishment for just wearing the armor (you know which set) and ring (again you know which ring) that lets you gte more souls and hittin that bad boy all the way to +20 in your NG to be overleveled as fuck and rek anything you come near. Look at most of the bosses and they die when youre level 300. lul
I like to grind the ancient dragon for souls, with 900 fire resist it's an easy way to max a character

I feel like Orphan of Kos is not as hard as everyone says, he has very clear tells and everything can be doged once you see it coming, the only problem is adjusting to his speed. Although I guess it depends on the person because I find every fight that relys on positioning to be insanely hard (Laurence, Midir, Kalameet, Demon of Hatred)

Laurence has the most underrated OST in the series. It's magnificent.
Gotta say, Pinwheel is a pretty hard boss. I can't tell you how many times I died to him.
All jokes aside, did anyone else find the pinwheel look-alikes near Nito's boss area to be more difficult than the actual boss?

Darklurker owned me so hard, especially when it divides into two in the second phase. Plus it was such a pain just getting to the fight
Dex weapons are better if you fight darklurker. And yeah the run to the boss sucks

It took me forever to defeat Midir and Ludwig the first two times I fought them. On subsequent playthroughs, I’ve found Sister Friede to be an absolute nightmare. I’ve beaten her once before but on this playthrough I’ve really struggled with her third phase. The most punishing thing about the fight is having to beat the relatively simple first phase, the absolute gank slog of the second phase, just to even get a chance to see her third phase again- that’s why it’s so hard to learn her moves. Plus by then I’m always out of estus (not that it matters, she’s great at one shorting me with the blue scythe attack or getting me stuck in one of her ridiculously long combos)

Morgott was easy
When you stand before the Ancient Dragon he does exactly two attacks, he breathes fire forwards, or he flies in the air and breathes fire underneath him.
When he does the first attack run to his legs and hit him until you have no stamina left, then walk back in front of him so he does the second one, repeat and you have the easiest and most boring fight of your life
Or just go between both his back legs he will only do a stomp attack which is when you switch legs each time he stomps

Just wanted to let you know if you were still stuck or you fought him honorably, there is a ladder to the right of the stairs that you can go up and do a huge plunging attack on his fat head, it does about the same amount of damage as the plunge in undead asylum for the demon

@@hughkaliski5040 yeah the SoulsBorne games are tough, DS2 is probably not as demanding as DS1, but it's still tough, DS3 and Bloodborne are possibly just as hard as each other and Demon Souls has so many ways that you can cheese it
You still have OnS, Gwyn, Seif, Manus, Artorius Kalameet, the Bell Gargoyles, the Bed of Chaos and quite a few other tough bosses ahead, but if you persevere, then you will be able to overcome them
#1. *THE CAMERA* in every single Fromsoft game. Esp in DS1. Everything else I can react to and plan around but not when the camera gets scared of all the monsters and decides to hide behind a wall, I'm not good enough to play by sound
Forget the nameless king, where my boy manus at
Manus damage is underwhelming (unlike Nameless King). Manus is a cake walk if you use shield (unlike Nameless King). Both their movesets are very simple to read. Both bosses counters spamming players (if you hit only once or twice, you should have ample time to prepare for the dodge without panicking aka spam dodging). All in all Manus is much more forgiving in his damage, which is probably why he is not on this list
When he mentioned the watchdog as difficult I remembered amygdala dunking on me in the defiled chalice
Go farm for blood gems they're both way more fun to deal with in depth 5 with all the offerings. Took me almost 10 minutes to kill watchdog with all offerings at depth 5 with a level 190 character. Great fun though would recommend
He took a whole days worth of time away from me. Seriously fuck that dude.
The first time fighting him is horrible but when you get a pattern down it becomes so much easier. They way I defeated him was by constantly circling the arena while waiting for him to slam his arms down and going crazy with the burial blade. At his final stage I just get up close and chip off the legs while dodging the jump
@@foamhead4785 Or you can use arcane at his head, or break poise repeatedly with the Pizza cutter on its leg (if you have the dlc)
Orphan was so difficult for my wife that when he glitched out and got stuck my wife said don't care I beat him.
The same happened to me with Ornstein and Smaug and even if it does't feel like a sweet victory, It's relieving, specially after dying like 50 times
I had that happen with gael once.
I just said "good enough" and beat his ass.

My worst boss? Celestial Emissary. He killed me 37 times even an overleveled character, and don't get me started on his Chalice form. Actually had to get TWO summons to help me, and they both got wrecked.

I wonder if the existence of Melania changes this. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people are referring to her as the hardest fromsoft boss now.
It does. It's not even close. She has multiple mechanics that would alone make her the hardest boss in the series, and they're all combined into one. She's able to end combos midway through, making some of her "openings" impossible to consistently punish. She does an insane amount of damage, nearly every combo can oneshot you (although most are very easy to dodge, if at least partially). She heals a fuck ton off of every hit, making trading almost never worthwhile, and her health bar is ridiculously large (33.5k, which is more than double Midir's HP). Let's not forget that she can always and will often chain combos together, and that this will often let her heal since you've just committed to an attack animation. She inflicts Scarlet Rot (Toxic) in phase 2. And fuck Waterfowl dance. Just fuck that attack. Getting hit by half of it will oneshot you even at 60 Vigor, the first part is undodgeable unless done in a very VERY specific way that is pretty much unavailable to most players, and even then dodging on time for the other 3 parts is not enough, you have to dodge both at the right time and in the right direction. Combine this attack with the rest and this boss is just ridiculous. I would much rather fight 2 Orphans at the same time than fight Malenia.
@@xThefoRS orphan wasn't even that hard to begin with, personally I find gael way harder than anything in bloodborne because gun parry is literally the easiest parry mechanic in all of soulsborne, malenia however is the most bs boss I've seen in video game by far, she sucks ass.

@@chosenscrub2009 people greatly over exaggerate how difficult orphan of kos is, yes he is tough no denial but he can be backstabbed and parried making the fight trivial with good runes and gems
Ludwig and Laurence I feel don’t get the attention they deserve because Ludwig has the slam dunk one shot and after ng+4 or 5 almost any of Laurence attacks can one shot you and his health pool Is ridiculous is the later ng cycles making the fight really drawn out to the point where you lose interest or just get tired and make stupid errors

Friede and Laurence are without a doubt the hardest bosses in the franchise for me. Laurence for one shotting/massive HP/longevity, and Friede for having to persevere the first two phases only to get wrecked in under a minute in the third.
For me the hardest boss by far was the demon princes. Idk but i just couldnt kill them. The health bar looked like i tickled them with each slap and their gank power put invading a host with a phantom friend to shame. Overall them and darkeater were my hardest easily

Gael's my hardest for DS3.
But honestly I think a top 10 difficulty for me would mostly be Bloodborne bosses. Defiled Amy (especially Defiled Amy cannot stress how hard this thing is), Watchdog, Laurence, Orphan, Ludwig, Loran Darkbeast, Headless Bloodletting and Abhorrent are all freaking monsters. Might as well add the Anchor Shark and the Bloody Crow to the list too, they aren't bosses but theyre vastly harder than most bosses. Like give them a healthbar and an OST and they'd fit right in.
Not knocking you, but I've figured out Kos. It's a thrilling fight, but Defiled Watchdog can kill me, and Orphan doesn't unless it's NG+. Big sword Ludwig Holy blade and stick and move. One hit, dodge, then another. Maybe two if he staggers. I don't even bother parrying.
Gael’s attacks are easy to dodge and as long as you have a 100% physical absorption shield his attacks can be completely blocked with little stamina loss in the first phase. Then it’s just a matter of dodging to the right during the second phase and keeping an eye out for that ridiculous parallel spin move he does and you’re golden.
Midir on the other hand has a bajillion health, has attacks that are hard to dodge and reach across the entire arena and can basically two shot/three shot you.

I'd consider myself a veteran of Ds1 (not any of the other titles) and the only boss in the game that can still actually give me some trouble is Manus and his holy one-shot-comb, I was a little surprised to see Kalameet on here but not Manus.

Kalameet had such reputation, I didn’t bother looking for him on my first play through.
The second time I decided to do a full boss run and actually beat him first try. Maybe I was over-leveled but I felt disappointed of not daring this fight first time.
It depends on your build. Kalameet is a pain in the ass if you prefer shield blocking instead of dodging, or if you use lock-on. With free camera and dodging, he is actually surprisingly easy.
@@dcv2009 You perfectly described my second playthrough. Not locking on made O&S suprisingly easy and apparently it helps with bosses in general.
@@loupax Yeah, it's actually a very underrated strategy. I noticed it on my 2nd playthrough and now I avoid locking on to enemies and bosses as much as possible. Lock-on seems to cause more harm than good most of the time.
@@dcv2009 The main reason I switched was because when locked on, the dodge button always rolls and what I really needed at the time was to run.
Running away is a very useful combat skill apparently :D

You can beat Manus by putting on Havel's and R1 spamming with an occasional roll. It's what I did on my first playthrough. Tried the same for Kalameet and got my ass handed to me several times before I gave up and decided to fight him normally. I now have more trouble with Manus than Kalameet (because I actually had to learn Kakameet's moves), but in my initial play through I found Kalameet to be way harder.

Same. Orphan of Kos was probably one of the easiest bosses of the series for me but wouldnt mind playing it over and over due to how fun the fight was.
Appreciate the honesty in this video. For all the bravado and 'git gud' nonsense in the community. It is nice to acknowledge those bosses that can still catch a veteran off guard, or those you struggle with personally for whatever reason. Just goes to show how great the game is that everyone has their Everest and their own story to tell. Some bosses still instil dread as you walk to the door. I can get with it. You aren't sure what is going to happen and they demand your respect.

Yeah. All the 0 hit speed runners and stuff don't show you all the times they failed. Nice to see footage of a veteran dying. Statistically, Orphan of Kos. He beat me like 100 times. Had to summon. I eventually came back a year later after playing all the other Souls games and managed to beat him solo. He is a nightmare. Sister Friede also gave me a lot of trouble. She also seemed impossible for such a long time. I also dread the Gargoyles in Demon's Souls... especially in NG+. Two on one, in such a small space, so much luck involved and GRAVITY is the big killer, getting clipped and shunted off the bridge... hate it. Pontiff Sullyvahn I beat pretty easy fist time I played DS3. Second run though it took me like 20 goes, I didn't respect him and he got in my head big time :-)

Damn. The Kos struggle is really interesting. The trick for him is really knowing at which angle to dodge. Once that becomes consistent, the only challenge might be the faster pace, but that’s normal for BB.
I cannot fathom to this day how I first tried him on my first playthrough. Must have been the mother (he) of all things beginner's luck because he bent me and my buddy for a whole afternoon a few days ago.
Orphan of Kos is actually my favorite boss in Bloodborne, yes, even above Ludwig and Gehrman, mainly because of how difficult he is. The fight is thrilling and quick, the attacks are punishing yet fair and the arena and lore make it even better. And when it comes to difficulty he killed me around 20 times on my first playthrough but I managed to beat him on my first try in NG+
What about a trillion health makes that fight quick. And what’s fair about every attack having like a 3 second hit box. His second stage is him calling lightning so you have to run away, constantly running away from those orbs he throws, and your only breather is him flailing attacks that do half your health. The arena, lore, and first stage aside of the yo-yo ass hit box are about the only thing good about that hot garbage boss

And I never really had a problem with his healthbar since my builds usually do quite a bit of damage. It came to the point where I can 1st try Orphan on a new run while I die to Ludwig 10 times

I’ve beaten the Nameless King a couple of times, but he ALWAYS gives me a hard time. His 3-swing combo that’s timed perfectly so that the 3rd hits you while you’re getting up from being hit by the first one is just dirty, and even with 40 vigor+Ember, he can kill you really quickly if you make just one mistake.

I have two lists. One for "first encounter and gotta figure them out" and "fought when it can two-shot you and has high hp relative to your damage". Naturally they're done solo.
First list is.
1. Ludwig
2. Sister Friede
3. Owl Father (I first fought him in ng+ though) or O+S
Second list is
1. Orphan of Kos (Total nightmare fighting him early on an arcane build.)
2. Isshin Sword Saint on ng+ with the chip damage on. Kicked his ass in ng, but his ng+ spear phase has monstrous amounts of hp.
3. Soul of Cinder (Cinders mod, ng+, mark of valor. So many damn mixups and takes 7-8 minutes to kill.)
If we're talking frustrating, I think Bed of Chaos is a definite candidate for the list because jumping in this game is just too damn realistic for it to work in a fight where there are holes everywhere, not to mention the fact that it can sweep you into its holes. The Witch of Izalith being turned into a firebreathing tree is as illogical as you can get even in its own world. But in terms of hardest, at least it's alleviated with the advantage of its shoulders remaining damaged even if you die. It's still undoubtably the biggest fuckfest in the Soul series next to Reindeer Fuckland (Frigid Outskirts) despite not being the hardest.

TheDexecutioner Midir is undoubtedly harder than Gael. Try fighting them again. Gael is a tough fight, but he feels fair. Midir feels almost bullshit because of his long combos and constant AOE attacks

I feel like no one mentions him because of how out of the way he is or everyone was just using caster builds for easy mode. But meleeing Darklurker is absurdly difficult
TheDexecutioner I feel the same, I don't find Midir that difficult of a fight either. Forst time around absolutely, priror to May of this year Midir was the only boss that I hadn't bested yet, then I beat him on my Pyromancer using the Crystal Chime and a Lightning infused Claymore on my first try of the day (he killed me a lot before that though). Fast forward a few days and I beat him twice on my inital character and my LUK/DEX Hollow build on the same day with 3 deaths in total.
In fact on my LUK/DEX build I died more times to Iudex Gundyr (3rd playthrough, but first time using a dagger) than the two times to Midir. Gael I'm already at 3 deaths so far.
I can see why. Gael is very fast and the lightning can be very disorienting and at least Midir has one weak point that you have an ample amount of time to hit. But Gael isn’t as heavy-hitting or girthy compared to Midir. They’re basically on an even level with the only difference being their size

Currently playing through the demon souls remake and it's my first souls game. Have truly fallen in love with the series. Just downloaded Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 plus bloodborne ready to work through when I'm done. Will get Sekiro when it's less than £60 and also bought mortal shell as it's a similar type game!
