  • Hi Goldilocks Natural Bedding here. Having had several inquiries regarding flammability of KapoK I decided to update my 2010 demo and present this 3.5min vid for your information. All feedback is welcome.

If the pillows or beds are lined with sheep's wool or alpaca fabric, that will help greatly from the kapok ever catching fire to begin with. Wool/alpaca has pretty low flammability and self extinguishes.

Thanks for your input Justin. I think the flammability of wool/alpaca and kapok are pretty similar and the idea of Kapok is that is vegan and wool/alpaca kind of defeats that purpose.

KapoK used to be used in yachts because of its moisture resistance, in mattresses and pillows. It was also used in carriages in the horse drawn days before the days of making us dependant on oil and its by-products. And even light planes and war planes because it is a fraction of the weight of cotton, wool or straw which was really the only stuffing available. Given that car seats and most of the interior of cars are petrochemical sponges, vinyl's etc I would suggest Thundering Pulse that they would be more flammable than KapoK.
