    Had this tree in our backyard, but confused that i havent seen this kind of tree anywhere my neighborhood nor our town so i got curious. The bugs dont bite and its cute, havent known its name until now and been calling them orange . Ours arent as big as in the video but it is crazy in bearing fruits that when i tried counting them i gave up after exceeding in 50 pieces. Its just around 5 cm's bigger than a mango tree. I plan on planting the seeds ive been collecting and already made a simple pillow from the cottons. The cotton collecting part was a handful :>
    The video was very helpful, i never knew it could grow that magnificent. Thank you ❤

    Lol I have this tree next to my house, when the pods get ripe and fall my mom uses it to make pillows and stuff !

      awesome, my family and I just moved to PR and wondered what they were.. does your mom wash it first or does she just uses it straight from the pod?

    • @adventuremax1689
      @adventuremax1689  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great way to utilize the excess Kapok cotton from going to waste. Thanks for watching!

    • @adventuremax1689
      @adventuremax1689  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if the cotton would need to be rinsed. Though, do keep an eye out for any suspicious little bugs. Here on the tree I was at, the whole ground was covered in these mysterious red bugs who feed or nest on the cotton itself. That would be something to look out for.
      Cheers,
      Max

    The Central and south american CEIBA tree produces a seed with white filaments and is used for the same purpose the
    kapok tree "wool" is, although not as abundant and well known as the kapok tree is.
    The tree shape is also quite different from its Asian cousin with its snow white "wool"...!!!!!!!!

    • @adventuremax1689
      @adventuremax1689  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's interesting how the Asian version of the tree gives white cotton from it's seed pods. Thanks for commenting and educating others who are reading the comment section 👍

    Is this tree the same with the cotton plant? If you leave the cotton plant will it grow into a kapok tree?

    • @adventuremax1689
      @adventuremax1689  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes, it is. The little black seeds from the cotton-like Kapok pod would eventually grow back into a Kapok tree like the one they came from.
