Great episode, Rick is a brilliant fellow and a superior guide, and most importantly a good human being.

Fascinating discussion with a medical professional. Thoughts - Hancock probably would have bleed out as quickly as Albert Sydney Johnston did at Shiloh if the bullet hit an artery. In his letters to his wife Col. Charles F. Johnson isnt shy about describing his bladder wound. Poor Cushing was raised here in western NY in Fredonia. "Generals in Bronze is a really good book.

The human body destruction caused by today's ballistics is incredible. Today's military trauma surgeon's are so talented at saving lives! Having said that, it's impossible for me to imagine what the Civil War surgeon had to deal with on the Battlefield!!!

lol by the time this came out, it had been so long since we recorded it that I didn't understand why I was getting so many messages about the amount of times we said "penis" in the first ten minutes. I had to go and listen to it to find out. I'm glad it was a medical discussion and not a prurient discussion that I forgot to cut out lol

My understanding was that Weed was shot through the upper body--the round entered one shoulder and exited the other shoulder--not the neck. Given that Hazlett was hit moments after Weed, supports the argument that it was indeed a sniper who took out both men and not TWO random stray rounds from nearby Confederate infantry.
