INXS another legendary Aussie band !
God there is some legends onstage there. INXS were huge worldwide. Had huge hits..they were formed in Australia in 1977 and sold over 80million albums worldwide with about 30 million in the USA. Only Australian groups
AC/DC and bee gees have sold more albums. INXS played at Wembley in 1991 and Michael Hutchence was phenomenal as lead singer.
And the backup singers include Chrissy Amphlett from the Divinyls - a huge star from the Australian rock scene. Check her out in her early career in the wild "Boys in Town" or her later career singing "Pleasure and Pain" or "I touch myself"

The world has missed so much. Not having this music around we grew up with, saw Cold Chisel 5 times. Always a great show, good to see they're getting the recognition they deserve! 👍👍👍
I think this might be the most Australian Rock performance of all time. The song was originally performed by the Easybeats, really the first Aussie band to have international success. It was written and produced by Harry Vanda from the Easybeats and George Young, whose brothers played guitar in AC/DC. Vanda and Young would go on to write or produce many classic Aussie hits.
Then a series of concerts are put on to showcase the best of Australian music, entitled Australian Made. Then they finish with this song, performed by INXS and Jimmy Barnes, with backup from the lead singers of the Models, Saints, Divinyls, and Triffids (and that’s just the ones I remember!). Those bands had performed earlier in the show, and come back to close with this. The fireworks at the end were the perfect punctuation mark to finish it off. Iconic.
As a bit of context, INXS were internationally huge. Cold Chisel and Barnsey didn’t enjoy the same international success; the US record industry shunned them and they got super pissed off.. and it’s just now with TH-cam that the world is absolutely blown away that they missed out on Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes. But we certainly didn’t miss out on them here in Australia!! RIP Michael Hutchence, INXS lead singer here, who sadly passed in 1997.
The Us didnt work out for them because the Promoters didnt think it was possible for a band to be so pissd drunk all the time and still perform for long. Lets face it Jimmy used to have a whole bottle of vodka before going on stage and another one on the stage. Some performers dont do themselves any favours . Bloody tragedy Michael couldnt be saved in time . Out of all the passed away stars I would bring him back first.

Love this performance. INXS were the biggest band in the world at this time along with U2. Had a reputation for being a brilliant live band. Anything from their Wembley stadium 1991 performance would showcase this! My faves from that show would be What You Need, New Sensation, Suicide Blonde, Original Sin.

I was 16 yrs old standing right in the middle close to the stage. I remember it like it was yesterday. So lucky to have had Australian music in my upbringing, I fondly look back always full of emotion. Rip Michael, Chrissy, and Chris Bailey. You all touched people's lives. Thank you

Highly recommend a two part series on the story of inxs. Really worth watching to understand how inxs made it right from the beginning.

It was the last song of the night and all the great singers from the concert were on the stage. INXS started out as a pub rock band that develop their own genre of music. They were called Ska, New Wave, then Alternative and the funk/blues rock that sounds so ahead of the time. Andrew and Michael wrote about 300 songs together, not all are published but you have 10 albums, soundtracks, live albums, solo projects and a ton live full concerts on TH-cam alone. Cold Chisel was a good band, but when it came to the "Freedom" soundtrack, they used Michael and that song is called "Speed Kills" You know the album KICK was also initially shunned by the record companies and they offered INXS a million dollars to re-record it. INXS chose art over popularity and it exploded all over the world. Years earlier, they were also shunned for their song "Original Sin" and that has stood the test of time. Again, they were light years ahead of their time. You can not go wrong with anything INXS!!! 💕

"Good Times" (aka "Gonna Have a Good Time") is a song by the Easybeats which was released as a single in Australia on 18 July 1968 and appeared on their Vigil album with guest vocals by Steve Marriott of Small Faces. It was written by George Young and Harry Vanda
The woman with the red hair is Chrissy Amphlett from The Divinyls. They were a punk rock band. The great thing is Michael Hutchence, lead from INXS looked totally sober.

I loved Michael‘s voice, it was amazing and he was so charismatic. Jimmy was a wild man who fired up everybody he sang with. These days he’s mellowed a bit, but he’s still teaming up with other artists and doing some great duets. I like his duet with Sam Moore, Soothe Me. Loving your reactions. This song was written by 60s Aussie group The Easybeats. One of the members was Angus and Malcolm Young's eldest brother, George, George wrote and produced 5 of ACDC songs.

This is a cover of another Aussie band from the 1960s - The Easybeats. Their lead singer - Stevie Wright did a tremendously popular song after the group broke up. It's called 'Evie' and it comes in 3 parts and is over 11 minutes long.
Was 22 and off my tree and this concert was bloody amazing. The back up singers are from other top Aussie bands. Was a massive tour and each band played a few songs and this was the last track. If Jimmy was the king of pub rock then Chrissie Amphlett was the queen. Check out her band the Divinyls and their first single boys in town

I saw this concert series in Perth, Western Australia. It was the greatest line-up of bands I ever saw together at one gig. Chrisie Amphlett from Divinyls, Richard Clapton and I think, Brian Mannix from Uncanny X-Men on backing vocals.

As said, INXS were huge worldwide. Cold Chisel were actually flown over to the US but the talks for a record deal ended badly, and upon return Cold Chisel wrote a song called "You got nothing I want" which was huge lol. Jimmy is now older and wiser and immensely thrilled about the new exposure online, even reaching out to a few reactors to say thank you for the love. John Farnham was well-known but only by his industry peers, having sung with the greats, like Tom Jones and Celine Dion. Only the public of America missed out.... the music coming out of Australia has always been insanely good.
I hate that I was cheated out of so much great music🤣 But I feel blessed that I can hear it now! If Jimmy acknowledged my reaction I might have a heart attack lol!

In Australia we call the people watching the concert, the audience not the crowd.
All the so called backup singers are all Australian singers in their own right, they all came together for a concert. Which is something Aussue bands an Artist did when one of their own fell on hard times or was sick. Or for a charity, you have to remember we as a community musically in Australia very small compared to America, everybody helped everybody out back then. I think we were very lucky that the internet wasn't around and we were so far away because we had our own music. We went to pubs and the bands were all there. From High School AC/DC used to come and play at dances called Zodiac Dances all the bands did, so you saw them from an early age before we made them famous. Haha love your reactions. And Jimmy still kills it everytime he goes on stage, he is truly AMAZING.🇦🇺🎵🎼❤️🔥

Michael Hutchens RIP, is such an underrated singer . Jimmy just has the power but Michael is just smooth and easy to listen to , not to mention his stage presence . You definitely need to look up more INXS . For a little while there they were the biggest rock band in the world , up there with U2 and their likes. Original sin, What you need , Eloquently Wasted , Suicide blond, and many more.
