    i think that middle hole on the pressure cooker would be better for the a vac guage

    Mold makers use vacuum to remove air from casting materials to eliminate air bubbles. You can do the same with epoxy to make molds for small objects.

    Used as a pressure cooker, there is a heavy cap that sits on that valve on top and when the pressure gets too high to hold it,,, it would float above it letting off the pressure.

      Some have 3 or 4 holes in the cap to allow for different pressures.

      Rinoa Super-Genius I was going to say the same thing. But add that if you buy a brand new pressure cooker, it will come with the top, add onto that putting some silicone or whatever into the bottom of the topper and I guarantee you won't see a drop in the pressure.

    You can expand marshmallows to truly gargantuan sizes, And you can explode candies such as M&M's due to the hard coating holding the air inside.

    Brilliant. I was thinking the same thing for a degassing chamber for castable epoxy resin. You have proven the concept. Now off to the thrift store! BTW solder makes a poor seal unless it flows freely using a torch and flux. For a low temperature seal try either a solid threaded metal bolt with lock-tight blue in the threads or fill the hole of the pressure relief valve (PRV) with hot glue. You can countersink the hole before hot gluing the PRV to eliminate the possibility that the chamber will suck in the plug under vac.

      well solder is what i have on hand, and as we all know, what you have on hand is the best solution for a quick fix. haha

      Depends how fast your epoxy sets up. Many use paint pressure pot with a few changes to work with epoxy. Adding pressure appears to squeeze the air out of the epoxy. All kinds of videos on youtube. Pressure pots at harbor freight or in canada at princess auto. Many of those small vacuum pumps vent an oil mist, some are best vented outside. On the water test perhaps the pump intake sucked in the oil fumes ergo yucky wayer.

    You can't freeze dry stuff with a vacuum chamber, that requires a complex machine that uses the process of sub-zero freezing & sublimation than vacuum pressure to remove moisture while a gas. However, you can seal previously freeze dried foods in mason jars in a vacuum chamber.

    That centerpiece is for a pressure release valve. It's a heavy little metal piece that goes on top and that's how you can release the pressure from the pressure cooker. The piece you took off where you connected the hose, is a burst valve in case of over pressurizing the pressure cooker. It'll pop. I could be wrong. Try making stabilized wood

    Number one rule of soldering/brazing: always have the heat of the material melt the solder, never heat the solder directly! I would've removed it and hit it with a blowtorch, then the solder would've damn near jumped to the stainless when you touched it to the piece.
    An air filter on the pressure release valve would've prevented crud getting in when repressurizing. And a little dab of oil on the gasket would minimize that slow drop of vacuum over time.
    Also, vacuum hose is comparatively cheap as opposed to hydraulic hose, and they're designed for completely opposite conditions. I mean, it's some sturdy stuff, (I work with it all the time as a machine maintenance tech) but if your pump was any stronger, it would've collapsed in a very impressive display. Had it happen once on a 40 foot punch press. The oil reservoir failed and the vaccum that was created by it draining collapsed 3 hoses that had to be replaced. To be fair, the hoses were probably over 20 years old. But at $50/ft without fittings for that particular size and rating, that sure was an expensive whoopsy-daisy.
    I'm sure that over the 3 years since you posted this that you've already learned most of that. But if not, you're welcome.

    • @RinoaL
      @RinoaL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      as a professional solderer or rapid prototyping circuits at Apple, i can say you must heat the solder first in order to put enough heat into the item you are soldering sometimes

    • @sgctactics
      @sgctactics 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RinoaL ok, you got me there. Yes, wetting the iron tip to transfer heat is undoubtedly an exception. But in the case of plugging the rocker port, that falls into the category of brazing, where using an iron is relatively uncommon. My mistake, I was trying to be as brief as possible

    id like to see you put a gauge on the chamber its self and leave it for some time, say a day or even an hr to see if it leaks and how fast it leaks
    this would mean you could put something under vaccum and set the pump on a basic timer to pull it back down
    of course something might need to be done about the pump its self leaking

    would it be worth it to put a shut off valve and quick connect on the chamber itself? it would eliminate leakage paths for instances where you need the chamber to hold a vacuum for extended periods of time. as an example for impregnating tool handles with oil, I believe that's how autine tools does their knife handles. side note, they have some nice videos of hand forging axes and knives. John neeman is one of their black smiths and has a few videos of his own.

      Honestly I've abused these cheap vacuum pumps a lot, and I bet oil getting into it wouldn't be super bad for it. Maybe just drain the oil out afterwards if it gets bad, and don't run it past the time it starts to knock really bad. Other idea is to put a cold trap in line with it, so run the hose going to the vacuum pump through a cooler filled with ice water and the oil will condense into droplets in the line.

    Why oh why does everyone use teflon tape? Use PTFE paste and you'll have zero leaks.

    • @RinoaL
      @RinoaL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      because ptfe paste isnt something any stores near me sell, and tape works 100% of the time for me.

    • @Atouk
      @Atouk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RinoaL Pipe fitting is part of my trade. Teflon tape was never meant to be a thread sealer. It's a thread lubricant which allows an extra row or two of thread to be introduced into the fitting. The actual seal is made by a thread sealer, which is pipe dope of one kind or another. I love PTFE paste on my toast! Anyway, if teflon tape works for you, I don't know how, lol. It's technically not a thread sealer, and I've been pipe fitting for almost 40 years.

    Boiling linseed oil is considered dangerous as its boiling point and combustion point is closer .To do It safely they boil it in vacuum.Can you figure out how they do it and share with us in a new related video

      they dont boil it, they just add chemicals to make it dry faster. you are horribly mislead.

    Try to see if you can stote hydrogen in water by replacing the air by hydrogen. I would put activated carbon in the water to increase absorption

    • @ronzawora
      @ronzawora 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well honestly, i meant the tone to be a challenge! See, a culmination of hobbies I collected in 2016 were directly in relation to you (getting hands on and researching/experimentation), AVE (getting hands on and learning about machining and circuitry), Tested (specifically Frank Ippolito and molding). This video proves a cheap degassing chamber for liquid silicone can likely be made much cheaper than buying one starting at $175. I'm a big fan and 2017 will be my patreon year. You're on the list... I hope now you realize from this tone I'm a supporter and a fan. Maybe one day we could be friends! :)

      ah ok, ussually when people end their statement with multiple periods it can give a condescending tone. but i also dont like challenges too much so it could just be me. i'll just stick it in an old refridgerator and that'll be good enough.
