After quite a bit of thought, I have come to the hypothesis that the "sudden frost" in the address to Stetson in The Waste Land is an environmental, impersonal version of the "invisible worm" from the Sick Rose. While the worm destroys the rose out of love, the frost destroys the rose out of coldness. It sounds like a typical Eliot ironic allusion.
It can have many meanings but I connect through this poem by my personal experience ... a battle between good and evil ... a story of a lost love by a third person ... a third person who destroyed the love that was once pure love.. and that third person invaded & destroyed the love by force.. (black magic) forced the pure love to be destroyed ... and the sick rose represents the victim ... my lost love ... the sick rose ...
I wonder why you 've skipped the line two in the second stanza the expression " of crimson joy " while this is a metaphore for the thirst of blood . Crimson is an adjective of color = ( deep red color ) ; the color of fresh blood .
I would Love if Mr. Huff would please analyze "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"! If anyone knows of a wonderfully detailed video analysis of his Prophetic books/Mythology please share.
love it and hope seeing much video like this in the nearest future so am suggesting some poetry to be analysed as ( John Keats,"ode to autumn"- Sylvia Plath's" Mirror" - "the Road not taken" "SONNET and "To his coy Mistress" .
sir can you do meeting at night by robert browning ; brotherhood by octavio paz & daybreak by henry wadsworth longfellow please sir it'll be of great help
Like the rose with the worm lurking, we all have what the Bible calls sin and a self-destructive nature lurking in us. However, the Bible also says Jesus took the "worm" onto Himself for us on our behalf. In our place, Jesus died, was buried, but he had no decay. He rose again from the grave. In Him the offer is twofold: escape from death and corruption ( he took it away) and the gift of incorruptible eternal life. This is what Blake believed as a Christian. What we need to do is recognize we have the corrupted nature called sin and trust completely that Jesus paid the price, which is his death in our place.
This breakdown is wonderful. It really helped me with understanding Blake's wokr for my assignment
Brilliant analysis! Really enjoyed your mini-lecture, thank you very much.
Thank you so much Sir I helped me a lot ... Thanks again Mr. Huff because of you this video proved a critical Appreciation of the whole poem for me.

Crimson is an adjective of color = ( deep red color ) ; the color of fresh blood .
It means sexual pressure

I think the rose symbolises the rose of Dante's Paradiso.

Hi
I don’t know why you have stopped making more videos on literature. I think you have no idea how much people are benifited by your videos.
Stay tuned...
I took it as if you have a lot of pride in yourself and are self less, it catches up to you in the form of "an invisible worm"
The "crimson joy" of line 5 is an allusion to Isiah 1:18. Thanks for your nice videos :)

I love your explanation... However there is some background noise...
6:49 You say: "... into the _heart of the rose"_ and I, for one, would like to know where you're coming up with this *_HEART_* from, pray tell?

come now, Mr Huff, no need to be so coy... you skilfully avoided the meaning of 'of crimson joy' and it's obvious metaphor
Sorry, but analysing a poem's meaning is simply BS.
why?
Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't
