Great advice! I always try to use my nicest things to help cope with the shorter darker days - I burn my nicest candles, use my best perfume or bath oils everyday, wear my best silk PJs and cashmere socks etc. Don't save your nicest things (or gifts) for sometime in the future. You cannot pin joy like a moth - so live in the moment.
Thank you very much for your calming, rational and interesting videos. Watching them makes me feel that in our crazy world there are still sensible people with pleasant approach to life. Your apartment is very nice by the way and very much in my style too 😊
I learn so much from you. I, too, live alone, and I appreciate nice things and minimalism/organization. You pretty much are my ideal for how to live a good life. I look forward to every new video, and I am so grateful that you are willing and very able to share your wisdom. Your videos are absolutely perfect in tone and content. I live in Southern California. The long cold winter is not coming. As someone who has lived in cold climates, I am eternally fascinated by the Californian need to cozy up. A rainy day prompts a run on soup at the store. Boots and coats come out with the slightest hint of coolness in the air. These kinds of preparations feed the soul, wherever one lives. Thank you for such a lovely, peaceful video.
I moved to LA ten months ago and savor the days when the sky is a bit more grey or the temperature drops to the high 60s! So relieved there is a culture of cozying up here in spite of the chronic sunshine
I am older and haven’t decorated for Christmas in years, except for the odd candle here and there and a very small tabletop tree. Seeing your minimal but lovely decor is inspiring me to add a bit more come December. Thank you .

Oh, this was the loveliest video. I really just sank into the spirit of prepping and nesting. Now I realize there is so much I can do already to get ready for the season - fairy lights on my balcony are the first thing on my list. Thanks again Benita, for another sweet video.
So cosy! A couple of things I do in the winter (okay, now) is to use the White Company "winter" spray around my house. It smells really Christmassy and I spray it on soft fake fur throws and also on the radiator. I use lots of little flickering fake tea lights too as I can hide them amongst my plants and not worry about burning them.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s a year since you moved into your beautiful apartment. Where has the time gone? Love your latest post, as always really calming to watch.
You've inspired me to get a move on! I was still in denial before watching this and now have followed a couple of your tips so I can actually look forward to the next season instead of holding onto the last one. Thank you! 🤓
I look forward to your videos. You show and don’t just talk. I know it takes a jillion moves of the camera but it really is an enjoyment to us viewers.
So nice (and a relief) to see the floor gaps filled. It makes such a huge difference. Not only keeping bugs and other possible unwanted beings out of your home, but also it adds that finishing touch, which makes for a nicer looking home, warm and cozy. I know it's a big job, but you are doing a wonderful pro job on it. Well done Benita ! 🍃🍂🍁Happy Fall🍃🍂🍁
I live in a place where there are 4 distinct seasons, which I love. Changing decor for the season is very calming to me and makes my home feel new. Bless you ❤
Excellent ideas as always! The decreasing daylight hours can be hard but having a cosy home and some events to look forward to can make all the difference for me.
🇬🇧 I’m currently in Copenhagen as my husband works here, so I’ve come for a week of shopping. I do love the simpleness of everything and loving the Christmas Markets and the simple Christmas decor x
Learning how to be cozy from a pro!! I love it. I would have not considered battery candles thinking it would be tacky but you have truly proven me wrong! 💖
A quarter round is an easy fix for the gap between the baseboard and the floor. Also, a door sweep on the inside of the door to your exterior (balcony, deck, etc.) is a big help in keeping out drafts.
I’m not a fan of the look of quarter round and also it would be very tricky to cut along the various depths of the baseboards. The filler, to me, is a cleaner look😅
I love the way you live so minimally and especially so intentionally. In my home, I really love finding stuff I put away neatly for myself. Like unboxing xmas stuff that I put away neatly and in order that makes it so easy to decorate with in the given year. Just knowing where things I need are is a great reminder of how much I enjoy an organized home. I am not as perfect or nearly as minimal as you, but I love the idea and hope I can do more of that when I retire a few years down the road.
How different life is in cold countries! It looks especially cozy... In Argentina we're preparing for a very hot summer with quite a lot of rain. But we still keep some of our European ancestors' Christmas customs, so you give us good inspiration. Thanks Benita!
Wonderful suggestions Benita ! Just had to laugh when you talked about removing the label from your Cera Ve containers and I looked over at my container of Cera Ve with the label removed. I too find labels distracting and remove most of them. Wishing a happy and healthy fall/winter season.
Thank you for the video Benita. Your apartment is so homely and all the little touches are so pleasing to the eye. I don't think our winters here in Scotland are quite as snowy and cold as Sweden but its still nice to be all cosy at home and especially in our beds. After seeing your candles I decided to display mine too, its lovely sitting in the candlelight reading a good book. See you next time Benita, meantime take care 😄
Great tips! I second Cerave moisturizing cream. I am sure Bonus really appreciates you keeping his cozy warm spots nice and clean and ready for a fall/winter nap! 😸😻
You bring the Joy in the moment. Such exquisit taste flows from every corner of Your home. Each space so inviting as is a beautiful reflection of Your Generous Soul. Thank you So much for these years of teaching us to make our lives Happier !❤
I put quarter-rounds back down on the baseboards for my finished look. Just nail or glue them to the vertical baseboard bottom, not to the floor. That prevents cracking and splitting when the floor and wall contract in the cold (as they will, and are supposed to). I also filled that little gap by poking rolled up newspaper back there before putting the quarter-rounds on.
Thank you so much for your time and effort creating inspirational videos for us! We use European style bedding in our home and today you taught me a new way to make our bed, tucking in a beautiful wool blanket over top. What a cozy idea, thank you Benita!😊
We live in Maine and I always enjoy your tips for a cozy winter season. The sun sets at 4:25 now, the days are still getting shorter and snow is already in the forecast. I do many of the same simple things but you always have a few extra that I enjoy incorporating. Thank you for sharing!!
Since I’ve applied some of these ideas in the last few years I no longer dread the dark season. Great calming video. Mr. Bonus is looking extra dapper 🎩
I enjoyed watching this video. I will be buying battery operated candles tomorrow. I also got some curtains for my window. These will probably keep my north-facing living room warm.
Here in New England, USA Saturday& night was summer weather . By Tuesday Halloween October 31 the temp was in the 30 s !! Today is Wednesday & it is Snowing !!I feel so cozy&relaxed thanks to you!
I almost bought some battery operated tea lights last week. I no longer decorate for the winter holidays, so I decided against the tea lights. But your video has left me feeling mellow and calm. Hopefully, I’ll be able to add a few simple items to bring warmth and joy in the house. Getting some evergreen branches just to add a little bit of a festive feel (and smell) really excited me. None of these additions will be too costly, or take up too much space. Thank you.
Puzzles are surprisingly social. Nice thing to do while chatting instead of looking at a screen. We also exchange them with friends when we are finished :)
One action I took this October was to use a battery tester on my stored batteries. I had stored 4 different brands of batteries, and I discovered one particular brand was losing its power at a faster rate than the other three. It also exhibited corrosion in some cases. An eye-opening exercise in maintenance and preparation!
Thank you so much... Helpful reminder also, as I was reminded about ordering more tea, and I discovered additionally Peach and Chamomile Tea and White Hibiscus and Peach infusions which I did not know about.
I really enjoyed watching this video. So relaxing and I really enjoyed the music you chose. This makes me want to prepare my home for winter to be calm and cozy. Thanks.
I am totally with you. I never use overhead lights unless I need to see something that I can't see with my lamps. And I have been a big fan of candles since I was a teenager growing up in Jamaica. I was always happy when the power went out and I could use my candles. As you say, so cozy. In winter I love fairy lights and candles all the time. As I always read before I go to bed I have a set of candles there, and often read by candlelight. I find that the lower light level makes it easy to feel relaxed and fall asleep. I wish I could come to some of the winter festivities at Skansen. My parents met and got married in Sweden (neither was Swedish) and I have a half sister there, so I've been to Skansen in the summer. Stockholm is such a beautiful city, and my godmother lives there. I love that there are none of the awful towering buildings that they have here in North America! I do have that fine Scandinavian hair too, so I'll have to check out that Zuvi hair dryer and see if it's available here in Canada!
Thank you! I adore the clear and sober atmosphere of your videos, and so cozy of course! Greetings from Estonia where the dark cold season approaches too.
Mys! I have also incorporated many these concepts here in the U.S. It's neat to see your neighbors' soft lights in their windows and even makes your views look cozy.
This is so sweet and cozy! I've traveled to cold climates but have only lived in moderate ones. The most seasonal clothing I have is to add a cardigan to my normal dresses and wear close-toed shoes instead of flip-flops 😂
Happy Birthday Benita! ...and winter solstice. Thank you for sharing your gift for gathering all these purposeful practices, presenting in such a lovely format,...bringing calmness. Growing up and living in the northwest of Washington your videos are easily relatable, and always look forward to learning something new.
That was very nice. I do a lot of those things. Started a few months ago. I live about 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the U.S.. Its in the northeast of the country, gets very cold and snowy. Although the last few years there has not been much snow, just bitter cold. Supposed to be a real cold and snowy winter this year. I drink chai on and off during the year, but really stock up in the fall, its so lovely to come home after being out in the cold, and take a warm shower, bundle up in soft warm pajamas and booties and settle in with a nice warm cup of chai. I have not purchased any puzzles yet for the cold winter evenings, have been looking at some, have not found any I like yet. I love the color or tone of your flooring, its lovely. I have been loving whitewashed wood lately. Love the lighter more gentle wood tones. Have you ever tried cinnamon tea, its a favorite, or french vanilla, so warm and lovely to taste. Have been getting out my warm blankets. Have not yet bought flannel sheets. Always look at them, but always wonder if they will be too warm. I just rented a tiny spartment in sn older building. Have been doing dome of the winterizing things too to keep the drafts at bay. Buying some offwhite curtains with a backing on them tomorrow to hold the warmth in this winter. First time I came across your channel. Very nice visit.
Its so nice to watch this video, doing the same in Russia..candles are essential to survive here😀Thanks a lot for you cozy channel, sending hugs from cold Moscow
Thank you for sharing...great tips that can be done around any home....day ideas...and I can't believe how quickly the year has gone since you moved. 😮. I think it's great architecture . Great room sizes..
You said it: Cats & candle flames🔥; a real no-no!!! I do remember an instance of singed whiskers & fur. Scary!!!!! Cats are definitely drawn to things that are on the “verboten” list!!!!! I’ve moved on to the LED candles - Much safer!! BTW: I always feel so energized after watching one of your videos. Your suggestions are so normal and do-able. They’re small acts we can actually accomplish. Nothing exhausting or extravagant! Many thanks 🙏!
Still smiling several minutes after watching your newest video, Benita! Even in Miami, I appreciate the seasonal change of light, and create fall-into-winter coziness at home regardless of the temperature. Good to know handsome Bonus won't singe his whiskers while wandering near the battery-powered candles. 😻 Your approach to soft, inviting lighting makes for lovely puzzle working, tea drinking, and sofa reading... And love the idea of framing one of your windows with the looong plant vines. Tack for another great video! 🧩🕯📖🍵🧣♥ (emoji overload!)
Love your videos. Here in US I INDIANA weather is cold and becomes dark early. After watching your video I intend to get candles and more candles. Take care and be safe
I can't begin to imagine how cold it is and needing 'ice grips' for my morning walk. I'm in Australia so no surprise there but still great tips. Thankyou for sharing.
it's way too cold here in London so looking forward to this. I am not a fan of christmas and dislike how in the uk the winter period is about christmas and not winter.
Excellent tips 👍☺️. I'm in Portugal and we went from 30 degrees to under 20 and lots of rain overnight. I'm not a winter person, i like hot sunny days, but I love your suggestions. We had our fireplace serviced during the summer holidays, i have a good selection of teas and a huge stockpile of my favourite hot chocolate powder 😊. My cat has a heating pad for his basket and that has been bought down from storage. Everyone i know has had wood delivered, I'm just waiting on my dad to roast some chestnuts 😄. I always get my daughter to light a candle after dinner, it's placed on the kitchen counter while I clean up, and i really enjoy the scent and the flicker of the light 😊. I can't wait to see your Christmas decorating ideas😊. I love Christmas decorations 🤩🤩🤩🤩. My family has been warned that I will be going to all the neighbouring towns to see the lights 😂. Last year i was able to go to Belgium to some of the Christmas markets and I was super happy 😁.
My winter at home looks much the same and I always look forward to the coziness of the season. Candles and fairy lights make me all kinds of happy. The balcony looks amazing by the way. Perfect view through such beautiful doors.

Thanks for sharing! 👋🏻👋🏻 from Stockholm!
Love all things Hygge, your place is looking fabulous and the satisfaction of seeing those skirting board gaps being filled 🙌🙌🙌
Such a satisfying project!
This video is so lovely and calming. I love the idea of embracing the cosy times. I do love candle light
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
I love all your videos, but I can’t wait for your holiday decor one this year! 🌲
Thanks so much for watching!
The view from your balcony with all the lights is lovely 💡
It’s like an advent calendar!
Thank you! I adore the clear and sober atmosphere of your videos, and so cozy of course! Greetings from Estonia where the dark cold season approaches too.
We do seem to have similar seasons!
I love the calmness of the video! These ideas are great! I’d love to do these things all year long as self care so my mind is cozy!
So glad you enjoy it!
Thank so much for your inspiration. I just start to simpelfy my life, home and more. Question tips to simpelfy your groceries? All goods🍀💚
I'm so glad you enjoy my videos! I'm not much of a foodie and don't cook much so I don't have any great tips in that department unfortunately.
Mys! I have also incorporated many these concepts here in the U.S. It's neat to see your neighbors' soft lights in their windows and even makes your views look cozy.
The courtyard view in winter is like an advent calendar. I love it so much!
I'm looking forward to my first winter with our cat. Should be cozy and warmer with her.
Aww, she’ll provide coziness for sure!
This is so sweet and cozy! I've traveled to cold climates but have only lived in moderate ones. The most seasonal clothing I have is to add a cardigan to my normal dresses and wear close-toed shoes instead of flip-flops 😂
😆Thanks for watching again!
Glad you enjoyed my video! Thanks for sharing!
Its so nice to watch this video, doing the same in Russia..candles are essential to survive here😀Thanks a lot for you cozy channel, sending hugs from cold Moscow
Stay safe and warm over there!
Thank you for sharing...great tips that can be done around any home....day ideas...and I can't believe how quickly the year has gone since you moved. 😮. I think it's great architecture . Great room sizes..
Older buildings add so much character!
@@BenitaLarsson totally agree....I just love older buildings..... structural engineering..sound...
The LED Candles are such a game changer!
7:32 i love your little stool covers. I need to come up with something similar for my kitchen
Lovely ,lovely ❤❤ keep warm and cosy for the winter
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another visually pleasing video with excellent, cozy ideas. You are so energetic and industrious and inspiring. 😘
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
You are a TRUE inspiration for me! BEST video ever! Thank you! Love your cat companion! 🖤🤍
I too am a puzzle person! My favourite winter activity
So fun and addictive! 😅
Thanks for the emoji overload!😆
I love jigsaw puzzles, especially in the wintertime. That’s a great tip about using foamcore!
Such a game changer when you need you table for other uses too!
Omg, lovvvvvve your channel ❤❤❤, love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️. Thanks again, Benita.
Aww, thank you!
Love your videos. Here in US I INDIANA weather is cold and becomes dark early. After watching your video I intend to get candles and more candles. Take care and be safe
I'm so happy you enjoy them!
I can't begin to imagine how cold it is and needing 'ice grips' for my morning walk. I'm in Australia so no surprise there but still great tips. Thankyou for sharing.
Glad you still enjoyed it!
Thank you , needed something me calm today . Love your apartment . Cant wait to see a walk out in Stockholm Autumn and Winter .
Will try and share that!
You never fail with some good advice. Looking forward for more. Thank you. ❤
Thanks so much for watching!
it's way too cold here in London so looking forward to this.
It all sounds amazing!🙌🏻
That kitchen is just fantastic you have, what a wonderful space
Such a great multi use space!
I think this is one of my favorite videos. So many great tips. Thank you Benita!
So happy you enjoyed it!
love bonus :) and after i finish puzzle i put the pieces in a ziplock bag so none get lost. Have a blessed day ! 🍂🍂🍃🍃☕☕☕☕
I hope my pieces will stay put in the box😅
My winter at home looks much the same and I always look forward to the coziness of the season. Candles and fairy lights make me all kinds of happy. The balcony looks amazing by the way. Perfect view through such beautiful doors.
Such a cozy season ahead!
Benita, this had some very helpful "getting ready for Winter" tips. Thank you so much.
Cheers
I’m so happy if they’re useful to you!
Oh I love the design of those matchboxes! I had a Swedish friend who gave me a box many years ago and I just refill it. 😊
That’s a great way to keep using it!
Hi Benita - It is 7.10am UK time, the house is quiet again so now coffee in hand i have peace to watch your really lovely, calming, video again👏. I am always inspired to carry out some task when i have watched your videos and today it is to tackle the piling on my cashmeres👍(winter prep) . Thank you for sharing - I just love this time of year!!
I’m so happy if the videos leave you inspired!
Bonus is looking so huge and fluffy! He must have his winter coat on. Such a beautiful boy ❤❤❄️☃️
He’s the softest boy!🐈⬛
