It's a mission where you help a police investigator to find a kidnapping case that involves his nephew and holy shit I turned the game off because of how intense that story was. You retrace the kid's involvement with some online entity, you see the killer's memories and see how it got him to become what he is today, you see the macabre shit he's doing and minor spoilers, some children don't make it. If you don't want to play the game because it's still not in perfect condition, at least watch a playthrough of that mission "The Hunt" because I feel it deserves that much love
The entire Witcher III game is genius. Nothing should be overlooked. Best game of all time. Still playing it to this day. And what's with Bethesda putting cannibals in pretty much all their games? Creepy!

My favourite side quest from The Witcher 3 is The Warble of a Smitten Knight from the Blood & Wine expansion. But yeah, that game has plenty of excellent side quests to choose from.
There is this quest in the witcher 3 dlc with house full of spoons and a cursed lady turned into a monster luring people into her house inviting them to dinner to try to break her curse by making a guest eat with her willingly. Its one of the best quests i have experienced truly special.
Yep, Witcher 3 probably had the most number of memorable side quests, sister killing her own sister over a warewolf guy, cannibal old couples, the bird lady quest, everyone's favorite Roach talking and many other, goddam that game is one of the greatest game I have ever played.
The painting quest for Oblivion is still my favorite quest line to this day! The color scheme for Cheydinhal and the textures that they used for the painting were such warm vibrant colors. I'm getting nostalgic just thinking about it!
I love that "Who Done It?" was the #1 quest on this list. As soon as the video started it was the first quest that came to my mind. It's the one quest that I think back on whenever Oblivion gets brought up. Arguably my favorite quest of any game that I've ever played. Even after all these years
fallout 4 silver shroud is probably my favorite side quest ever. So ridiculous, and you get dialog options of responding to everything as the silver shroud.
The whole real estate side-quest from Yakuza 0 will never leave my mind. Task is simple, buy real estate and fight the competition. Great way to gain insane amounts of in-game money. This quest is insanely long and felt like its own game by itself. Hell! This quest even has its own end credits.
Judy's whole storyline from Cyberpunk deserves a mention. This is a video about individual quests, but her storyline and romance path had me completely encapsulated. Cyberpunk had its problems, but holy fuck the storytelling in that game was incredible.
A cool mention for lists like this is the Predator quest from Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I guess it’s pretty subjective to call it genius but the fact that they felt the need to add it into the game, make several callbacks to the dialogue from the first film, and make it a top tier creepy mission in a Tom Clancy game made it a favorite of mine
A Dish Best Served Cold in Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines was pretty slick. Options like using Dementation or just being a Nosferatu made it very memorable. I really enjoyed thia video.
That wall you showed at 5:31 is not the door that unlocks after joining the Daughters of Chaos covenant. That is the location where you get Kirk's Armor of Thorns after you defeat him three times as an invader. The door that unlocks is the one just before the Demon Firesage boss in the Demon Ruins. There is a place where you can walk down a large tree branch and encounter several Chaos bugs. If you've done Solaire's quest up to that point, he is on the other side of a large door. This is the door that can be unlocked by the covenant and is a shortcut to Lost Izalith. If you're actually trying to save Solaire, I'd highly recommend watching a video or reading a guide first as it is easy to mess up.
Falcon, it can't be easy to come up with new "top 10" videos as frequently as you do AND make them so consistently entertaining. Keep up the good work, man. I appreciate you.
Similarly to WoW, Guild Wars 2 sneaks in a few really amazing quests. Overall, side quests design is something game struggles with, but the quest to crafting the legendary bow Chuka and Champawat starts with you hunting two giant tigers across the world map. You eventually slay them and come across their three cubs that they were trying to protect. Now you as the player have to find a new home for these cubs and raise them yourself to atone for your misdeed. This actually involves you getting the ability to equip each of the cubs to your back and travel the world doing other missions and completing objectives, culminating in you being able to craft the legendary bow, a weapon that fires spectral tigers as its ammunition. Best quest in the game by far.

The Yakuza series has so many great side quests or sub stories, as they say it in the game. Judgement, for example, has so many great side quests. Some running jokes transpire over multiple games too. And, Oblivion is looked more fondly by Elder Scrolls fans than Skyrim, primarily because it’s side quests are some of the best ever made. The guild quests are second to none and Skyrim felt like GTA V to me. Tons of improvements in many things, but ultimately felt a little step backwards. I have a nasty habit of rarely playing back games after once beating them. My favorite RPGs, mainly because they’re so long, keep me away. I haven’t played Ths Witcher 3 since I beat the Blood & Wine dlc, but I keep wanting to start from the very beginning. My backlog keeps growing though.
I really enjoy The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Romani Mask Quest Chain. In general, I love the mask side quests in Majora's Mask, but The Romani Ranch one is just really well done and feels very familial and satisfying.
HAH as soon as you started talking about the painting quest i started thinking about how the murder party quest is not only my favorite quest in oblivion, but my favorite quest in any game ever. i literally always keep a save file right before entering the door just so i can door the quest whenever i feel like it. sometimes i will literally get bored while playing another game, go do the murder party, and then go back to my other game refreshed. absolutely love that quest.
Me replaying The Witcher 3 over and over and over again. I finally noticed that one of the NPCs actually says to us and the Real Murderer. That they hadn't aged a day. It's SUPER subtle, you won't notice it if your skipping everything or focusing on something else. Love it 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
i LOVE a night to remember but i always think i'm the only one lol. the first time i played skyrim, i triggered that quest well before i made it to markarth, so it was really disorienting to "wake up" on the complete opposite side of the map. glad to see it included here!
The quest in Kingdom come deliverance when you get drunk with the priest was awesome , and another very memorable mission for me is the one from farcry 3 when you burn the weed I loved these
In Oblivion last quest of thieves' guild is pretty cool too with everything you collected during previous quests being used, scale of the heist, what you steal, etc..
I cant get over Kingdom Comes "Mysterious Ways" where u have to preach in the church. Its all around soo funny quest that I was crying from laughter and you have so many dialogue options that is crazy ....
I remember when i was a kid and got to the kafe and ange side quest, oh man. At that point i played video games because they were fun and entertaining, but that quest hit me on a different emotional level that i hadn't felt until that point, it made me realize that "holy s***, this isn't just a video game, this is f****** art"
Arkham, Cyberpunk, Forza Horizon, and GTA all have side quests you don't want to miss out on. The funny thing about Dark Souls is that you can complete it many times then still discover something new.
Woah for the first time in my life, the number one I thought of turned out to be the number one of the video! After all these years, this quest is still one of my all time favorites.
Another cool mission was I’m Actually Valhalla, (even tho it is a main story mission) when u have to choose Somas traitor after following clues and dialogues. And u def can choose the wrong one n it will effect the game.
The Cold Case series of sidequests in the Borderlands 3 DLC Guns, Love, and Tentacles are some of the best sidequests in Borderlands history and are incredibly frustrating because they're so well written it makes me wonder what the hell happened to the vanilla story for BL3
10 best choices in video games. Basically do the best times a video games gives you different options in a quest that will change the way the quest plays out or the game.
Cyberpunk's "main" side quests are f*cking amazing (i.e. the "character" side quests, such as Judy's quests, Kerry's quests, etc.) and are absolutely on TW3 level quality. The issue is there's not a whole lot of them. However, one of River's side quests, The Hunt, absolutely blows everything out the water as it's a genius murder mystery kind of mission with twists that make you literally sick in the guts. It's a masterpiece.
I have upwards of 700 hours on Oblivion, and no one can convince me it is a bad game. Upon replays you begin to see patterns in gameplay, but there is rarely a game that doesn't do that. The missions mentioned but also The Dark Brotherhood missions and the Sheogorath flaming dogs quest are why that game is so great. It doesn't stand up to some titles today I suppose, but some titles need to be judged in context of age. Oblivion does a lot right. As for Witcher 3, I'm a rookie. Just started it last month, and I could see you guys having to do an entire list just on great stories in the game. I love that they use letters, books, and other written materials to really breathe life into the side quests. Such a good game.
one of my favorite quests comes from one of the best rpg''s out there: kingdom come: deliverence - where you go drinking with the priest and the next morning you have to do the sermon at the church because the priest is too drunk
Wow, that's how you save Solaire? I did that without even meaning to! Only ever played through DS once, played as a pyromancer (so the shortcut was already open), and was in that covenant anyway. And I ended up summoning Solaire later to help beat Gwyn! The symbolism of having an Agent of Chaos be the most likely to team up with the Sun Knight is not lost on me, either
Knights of the old republic 2 had some solid side quest. Particularly the quest where you can make your companion atton a jedi. Had a serious dark side to the character i wasn't expecting
I think if Downpour was technically competing it woudlld have been recieved better. It was my favourite since 4, I played console releases but the vita. Anyway: The Beating Heart quest in that game was one of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had.
I did it without even meaning to! Played as a pyromancer, had that shortcut open already, and was in the covenant. Only ever looked up guides for bosses, so, seeing that I'd accidentally done something others had to look up how to do was a fun feeling. Maybe they did it on purpose- there's some symbolism I could see in having an Agent of Chaos be the most likely to team up with the Sun Knight at the end
The WoW quest was actually done first in Dragon Quest 3. You go to a kingdom, beat the bad guy, and the king is like "wow you should be the king!" Then you become king, and all that happens is that heroes come up ask for quests. You can't leave town, so then you go to an underground bar, where you have to get the former king off his butt and have him take back over.
My most memorable and favorite side quest was the Witcher 3 one in Skellige, with the monk who'd taken a vow of silence. You need to irritate him into yelling at you, and the payoff is incredible because it's so funny, even for such a short quest.
Never ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER lived to see World if Warcraft being mentioned for an innovative quest in your list Gameranx.
Creepy!
Cannibals in TW3: „phew, he didn’t notice us“ ^^
@@AndorRadnai I noticed. Some great random encounters with roadblocks put up by man flesh eaters. Pretty gruesome. But that's just in 3. At least as far as I can remember there aren't any in one or two.
@@freedragon3050 The map looks like someone randomly thrown all those repetitive predictable copy pasted *?* marks had nothing but same
5 bandits surrounding a campfire,
puny monster nest &
Shallow Ekkimara/foglet caves with the exact same design over & over
Skellige has more sirens than the entire population of northern kingdom, especially the water section so poorly done, randomized chests with couple of sirens flying around
AI is so poorly designed it's laughable
Npcs don't react if you steal something & if you lure bunch of wolves to village, npcs will only scream instead of running away
Wolves will only attack geralt
Lack of random encounters as well, nothing happens in velen or Skellige or white orchard because it had no life simulation system
each points of interest has predetermined enemy placement
I really enjoyed it for narrative & characters but arguably one of the worst open world Games I've played
@@David-bm7otgreat! Thanks for your tremendous insight. Much appreciated.
@@freedragon3050 You're a certified CD project fanboy
Witcher 3 is *faaaar* from being best game
Not with it's reskinned enemies, pathetic ai, shallow combat, floaty controls, bloated map & repetitive quest design
There are faar better rpg came out last generation such as Divinity original sin 2
Witcher 2 was far superior to 3, I was actually solving mysteries in Witcher 2 instead of following a dotted line
Not to mention Witcher 3 doesn't stand a chance against Witcher 2 when it comes to choice/consequences or alchemy
Thank God they made expansion packs for the game to fix the antagonist problem because wild hunt looks like a joke in front of letho i.e. a far superior antagonist
Also Witcher 1 also featured quest featuring cannibal
'Shining lights, even in death' from MGSV is etched into my mind even if it isn't genius, because it validated 'Demonization' with the fragment-horn from the start. Quite a grim mission.
i love finding unmarked quests while playing a game. some of them are bizarre and ridiculous which makes them standout from all the other quests but that's what makes them enjoyable to find. sometimes they even reward you with unique weapons/armor/items or a good pile of decent loot.
maybe you guys can do a video on that. 10 hidden quests/missions that have awesome rewards
My favourite side quest from The Witcher 3 is The Warble of a Smitten Knight from the Blood & Wine expansion. But yeah, that game has plenty of excellent side quests to choose from.
'A Night to Remember'. If it had not been for that side quest, I never would have met my hagraven wife! ❤️❤️❤️
The quest in HZD with the Banuk machine blood drinker is a legit hidden quest. Def should get more love.
Oooh! I don’t Even know that one!
acquired taste! yes!! one of my faves along with the "brought to you by montana recreations" quest from the dlc just because the dialogue is so funny.
NGL, I was a little upset when I didn't find that guy in Forbidden West.
It's sad to see that all the games on here are pretty old by now. Wish new games had genius side quests like this.
Ah, "Shoot This Guy In The Face". Good times..... Goooood times.
"THANK YOU!!!"
I am absolutely, indefinately insulted by them not choosing "Heart of gold" from BL3 DLC Handsome Jackpot. They obviously haven't played it.
Man, the days of Witcher 3 were legendary. I can still remember many quests. Played the game alot but not many playthroughs
Judy's whole storyline from Cyberpunk deserves a mention. This is a video about individual quests, but her storyline and romance path had me completely encapsulated.
Cyberpunk had its problems, but holy fuck the storytelling in that game was incredible.
Hahahahaha "had"
A funny short quest in Cyberpunk2077 is the guy needing to get to a ripper doc because his sex cyberspace malfunctioned the dialog is hilarious
My favorite was Farcry 5’s boss in the north. The random kidnapping + time trials that condition you to… do what you do. It got me GOOD.
Cull the herd guy? Yeah that was good
A cool mention for lists like this is the Predator quest from Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I guess it’s pretty subjective to call it genius but the fact that they felt the need to add it into the game, make several callbacks to the dialogue from the first film, and make it a top tier creepy mission in a Tom Clancy game made it a favorite of mine
I have no idea why they had to hunt down a poor alien that's crashed landed on Earth. He didn't do anything wrong!
it doesnt exist anymore :/
A Dish Best Served Cold in Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines was pretty slick. Options like using Dementation or just being a Nosferatu made it very memorable.
I really enjoyed thia video.
the witcher 3 has some of the best quests i’ve ever played.
If you're actually trying to save Solaire, I'd highly recommend watching a video or reading a guide first as it is easy to mess up.
exactly. that's going to confuse a lot of players that never opened the shortcut.
The Witcher 3 is such a good game, I kind of wish I never played it. No other game compares and makes me have unrealistic expectations for games now
Why would you wish that you never played it? lol
@@Marquis-Sade I explained that in the comment above
@@brendanrigley3025 No you didnt really explain it. You just said you wish you never played it. Witch is funny to say if you like the game. I love it too and I am very glad that I played it. Why would I not want to have played it when I enjoyed it? Just doesnt make sense.
@@Marquis-Sade definitely did explain, I’m not gonna bother doing it a second time
@@brendanrigley3025 Dude, you literally just said that you wish you never played it. Than you said how good it is and thats it.
This explains NOTHING. If I love something I want to experience it and dont wish that I didnt. I only do that with things I hate.
The blood fever in ac odyssey was such a good mission cause of its long term consequences
That Oblivion quest in the murder house was so good. I had forgotten about that as it has been years. That was so fun.
I'm glad the Anju's Anguish quest was included it's one of my favorite side quests in gaming. It always feel like there's a large stake in it and I like how it takes multiple days in-game. I always leave it for last whenever I'm replaying Majora's Mask so I can stop the moon moments after completing the quest, just to feel there's another personal stake for me besides saving the world. But that's just me haha
The wedding quest from Majora's Mask is the best one on the list, in my opinion. Holy cow, what an amazing game!!!
Love it 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
Cinema Ver-ight!? That is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day, which also may be a sad commentary on my day!
Took me second to figure out what that was supposed to mean.
For a guy who speaks for a living, falcon sure does pronounce a lot of words completely wrong lol. Still love his videos though.
i LOVE a night to remember but i always think i'm the only one lol. the first time i played skyrim, i triggered that quest well before i made it to markarth, so it was really disorienting to "wake up" on the complete opposite side of the map. glad to see it included here!
How about that one mission in Mass Effect 2 in which Shepard blows up a fucking solar system? That was wild.
I think the Citadel DLC is even more wild, it started out as a normal "meet me at" missions, and it gets wilder as you progress
My favourite is probably Shadow broker as that's probabl yone of m yfavouriet quests from the entire trilog ylet alone just Mass Effect 2
In the FalloutNV quest, you can also team up with the cannibal if you are also a cannibal.
Getting sucked into the painting is like Blues Clues, “Blue skidoo, we can too” 🤣🤣
Another cool mission was I’m Actually Valhalla, (even tho it is a main story mission) when u have to choose Somas traitor after following clues and dialogues. And u def can choose the wrong one n it will effect the game.
i picked wrong the first time bc i thought that it was WAY to obvious for it to be him with the mountain peek thing, but nooo
Valhalla has surprisingly cool missions.
If you manage to save Solaire in Lost Izalith, he actually goes on to link the flame in his own world, truly finding his own sun in the end \[T]/
🤙🏽
I love how yall's videos create so much of this need to go back and play these games again man. Thank you, it's reinvigorating!
Face McShooty has like 5 full minutes of dialogue too so that's awesome as well!!
I’m a simple man. I see witcher, I click.
loved Who dunit? from Oblivion and Carnal Sins from W3; amazing quests. I wish more games put that much thought and effort into their narratives
The Cold Case series of sidequests in the Borderlands 3 DLC Guns, Love, and Tentacles are some of the best sidequests in Borderlands history and are incredibly frustrating because they're so well written it makes me wonder what the hell happened to the vanilla story for BL3
Aaaah yes Witcher 3. The only game I have played more than 5 times and I am willing to start it again, just waiting for next gen version.
The quest that comes to mind for me is the Silver Shroud side quest from Fallout 4. I loved all the dialog options where you talk like the character.
This could have easily been just Witcher 3 side quests, and quadrupled.
Killing Solaire is a major sin that can never be absolved. PRAISE THE SUN!!!
My favorite part about Shooting Face McShooty is the quick "thank you" you hear as you do it.
Loved playing Oblivion when it first came out. Still play every now and then
I still think the best quest in witcher 3 is the one where your horse takes charge of the mission and you are just his support
10 best choices in video games. Basically do the best times a video games gives you different options in a quest that will change the way the quest plays out or the game.
Great idea. thanks
Phillipa's song on geralt n yen in the tavern cutscene is one of favorite songs especially from games
I don't think you dug nearly deeply enough into Welcome to the Machine. Might be my favorite RPG quest ever.
Time to go back to my old games and find these!
Bloody Baron will forever be one of my favorite quests ina video game ever
I think if Downpour was technically competing it woudlld have been recieved better.
It was my favourite since 4, I played console releases but the vita.
Anyway: The Beating Heart quest in that game was one of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had.
I was sweating bullets by the time you got to #2; when, "Whodunit" still hadn't had it's name called. Well done.
If you save Solaire, you can summon him later in the final boss fight against Gwyn. PRAISE THE SUN \ [T] /
I just started playing Oblivion again after many years and am loving it. Thanks for the sneak peaks! :)
The way he calls Dandelion makes me cry in pain
the whole time i was thinking "wheres that fancy stealthy murderer mission from oblivion" i love that game so much. so much skooma.
Thank you gameranx, never repeated content. Excellent videos
My pick would be Family Values from AC Odyssey, it ties in really well with Oedipus Rex
Never ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER lived to see World if Warcraft being mentioned for an innovative quest in your list Gameranx. And it's good you selected that one because one it's a joke quest for how the devs do quests in wow and also a hit at the players as well. I mean there is literally a player called Dumass who makes tons of mistakes, usually done by players. Thank you sir
A Night To Remember is one of my favorite quests in Skyrim because it reminded me of The Hangover.
The AC Valhalla side quest about getting the guy who stinks to wash was hilarious
I fondly remember "Lady Boyle's Last Party" from Dishonored. So good.
i just started playing oblivion for the first time, gotta say its fantastic, small but fantastic. the side quests feel really unique aswell.
I did the skyline quest at exactly level 14. I had none of the locations unlocked and waking up I was on the opposite side of the map id never even seen. Most memorable quest ive ever done in gaming.
If I could choose one game to erase from my memory so I could play it fresh and blind again, it would WITHOUT A DOUBT be Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.. What a brilliant game.
Dark Brotherhood quest line was sooooooooo good. I really really love it
