Yes, but you can not have studs with 17 inches wheels. Only with 15 inches and i mean racing tires not snow tires with studs. They are useful only on ice, not on snowy roads.

@cynik45ACP By my self. I started from very young to watch racing drivers, testing the same way of driving by my self. Because i love snow very much, when i bought subaru, i started drive in snow very often and testing new techniques every time.
Would be interesting to see the old vs new forester in the snow. The 2014 fxt allows traction control to be turned off but not VSC. Maybe this could be solved with a tune like APR does for Volkswagen. Not sure about the 2.5i either.
Hey, you guys should do a traction control test and compare auto vs manual. It's my understanding that the auto uses vdc and the manual is a constant 50/50 split. A good way to tell the difference would be to find a hill climb, have both stop half way up, then try to go again. I would be really happy to see the results! Oh and that was some good drifting, keep it up!
@suba400 what about grip and awd - I read is better with manual although some people say for off-roading auto is better. Also is there any differnece with awd between xt and reguar?

With my Forester en Bridgestone LMk 25 4x4 in Norway @ min 25 no problem with simulair roads. Speed up hill 100kmh no problem.

I have tested new diesel in snow.
suba400 about the same or worse? Can't imagine it could be better without the lsd and the tc holding it back
Matthew Way It's much easier and safer. For a skilfull driver the old is better because with that you can play with oversteering having fun.
My wrx allowed tc to be off and it was a blast in the snow.
Unless you're being deliberate, traction control isn't needed on an awd car

This auto, is without vdc. Auto is better in start on slippery terrain, but manual is much better in fast driving and control!!!

You can't drive like this with new models because of electronics.
They are safer, but you can't have fun with them.
