Very Cool. I was lucky to find the VERY rare vintage set #38 with the 5" Kings with the box. Also the earlier Player's Choice sets (#35 & 36) like you show in the beginning are very cool. The earlier ones had a marbled look to the white pieces.
I got a board custom made for me here in the uk exactly the same as your 23 inch drueke chess board but mine has squared ends it is made from black walnut and maple and the guy sent me photographs of the board as it was in different phases of manufacture it tuck about a month to make and deliver it cost me a small fortune 300 pounds but it is absolutely fantastic each board gets numberd and year etched on the back brilliant piece of craftsmanship I got it made after watching this video
I have 4 Druekes. A really old 18" with dark color square, 2 21" boards (one is exceptionally beautiful while the other is slightly scuffed but still terrific color contrast) and a mammoth 26" board, 2.75" squares. I'm just toying with the idea of selling the 18" and scuffed 21" boards.
a man named Frank Helwig posted this several years ago regarding identifying generations of Drueke boards: The oldest ones would be Walnut/Birch, then Walnut/Maple, and the last few years (when Drueke was owned by Carrom) Walnut/Aspen. That last few years of production also have a gold-embossed Drueke name stamped on the back, older models would have a sticker instead.
I have a 21" Drueke board with 2" squares and a 16" playing surface purchased about 20 years ago, maybe 25, exactly like the one at the start of the video.. The pieces are also Drueke, rosewood for black and something else for the white. The color of the white pieces looks like the ones in the video, so if anyone can tell me what the wood might be, I'd appreciate it. I store them in a rosewood Drueke box I purchased with the rest of the set, with 2 compartments for the pieces. It's a really nice set, and, to be honest, barely used, maybe like 3-4 times in 20+ years. Literally like new. I just don't know people to play chess with face-to face. I've been revisiting this great game recently, so I've pulled out the set to admire it. I also still have the original orange Drueke box for the board. The price sticker is still there, $109.99 for the board, and I think the pieces were around the same price. The king measures about 3-5/8" in height with a 1-5/8" base. I'd no idea that Drueke had gone out of business. Too bad. So much chess is played online now, but this complete set is staying with me, a true heirloom item, though I have no heirs. Maybe I'll bequeath some day to a youth chess club or something like that. I hear kids are getting back into the game. There's nothing to match playing the game live on a real board with real pieces.
The pieces I have look very much like the ones behind the board, so I guess that would make the white boxwood. The rooks are of the shorter, stockier type shown in the video. Anyway, great video!
This was cool to stumble on, thanks for posting it. William Drueke was my Grandpa. So many fond memories - miss him greatly.
I'm still using mine that I purchased in the 70s. Beautiful boards.
These are looking Stunning!!💐
My Drueke set from 20 years ago ... got chewed up by my dog. Broke my heart. Best plastic set I've ever come across.

I have a 23 inch Drueke board that has a dark burned or sketched logo on the back. Does that somehow date the board? Its hard to find info.
We're not sure - maybe there is someone that knows.

Just found a set of extra weighted 36H simulated wood ones
How. Much is. It
Something is off with the camera/camera work.
I used to own one of these. They're nice boards, but prone to scratches if you're not very careful with them. I'll stick with a vinyl roll up.

May I buy it?
Mate, you need a gyro to hold your camera and smooth the motion out :)
Stood on it , why would you do that ?
To get people like you to comment bruh. It’s comment bait.
I got an original that was brand new from a girl who was given it by her father.
Wait, you actually stood on it and it was not damaged! S***
Sorry about that swearing^^;
