Yay! I was wanting to tear my hair out because I had incompatible blender and unity versions, I should have the right setup now to upload the VRM and convert it in Unity now. Looking forward to more videos!
Completely missed the ball here... This is just tips for people who are experienced with these or similar programs, not a genuine "step-by-step" tutorial like the description suggests. Would have maybe learned something if you showed me the process of actually doing what you're doing instead of trying to compress all that down into under 8 minutes, it just doesnt work like that. Same way I can't just tell you how to make a full EDM song in FL studio in under 8 minutes. You seem knowledgeable about this so why not just actually explain it instead of trying to focus so hard on editing?
Sounds like you’re looking for a full course then. This is helpful for someone like me who, yes is experienced. I wouldn’t have expected a full course from scratch to publishing as that would be a dozen hour long plus videos. That also requires planning, budget, filming, and editing. There are tutorials on how to use Blender, how to use Unity, how to use the programs separately. You have to be the one to compile the knowledge and use it how you wish. So many content creators who’ve taken their time to produce the content you’re looking for but you’re not satisfied as it’s not shipped in an “all in one” package deal. We cannot be *this* lazy…
This is a tutorial on how to make a vrchat world, not a blender or whatever else tutorial. Go watch blender/etc. tutotials to learn those, then come back here. Knowledge stacks on other knowledge; if every tutorial for an application of 3D modelling explained from scratch every time, we'd get nowhere.
A nice little tutorial, but I think it could've been built on more. For example, usually the world isn't just a flat plain, so discussing how to manipulate the ground/elevations etc would've been cool (or modeling inside of unity in general rather than just assets). In addition, discussing probably the most important thing in a world: the lighting. And then maybe collisions/mirrors/scripting etc. Still for a basic world this does the job, thanks!
Thank you so much for the feedback, we will keep this in mind for future VRChat World tutorials! All really great ideas for next steps and additions to this type of tutorial.
@@HTCVive Related to this question, can you combine 3d landscape, like one you could make with blender, together with this a building from here so you have the best of both worlds, literaly.
I pressed Build and Upload but an error showed up saying "The VRCSDK build was aborted at the request of the 'UdonSharpBuildCompile' " Any fixes or tips?
Great info, thx I'm a new VRchat user with some 3D modeling experience. I'm just waiting my time to go from Visitor to New User so I an upload worlds and avatars. I'm not sure how long the process is going to last. Hope its soon.
Hey Dplagoon! Excited to hear that you are getting into the world of VR as a 3D Modeler. It is a really fun place to be especially as an artist of any kind. Usually it takes about 1 week according to google but it could be shorter. Keep an eye on it and let us know how it goes! What kind of world are you going to make?
is there an easy way to make a collage for a certain part of a mesh? im making a world for my bf and want to add all the pictures we've taken together to two of the back walls i made
@@HTCVive world creation, yes. i was hoping to learn about stuff like, setting up the avatar things and mirrors and triggers and what not, though your tutorial seems to focus more on the visuals of a world
Thank you for the kind words Jillian! Do you mean editing a world you already created, or an existing world? If it's a world from another creator be sure to get permission from the original creator and of course you would need the Unity package from them to do so.
Maaan I was hoping it'd be easier. Something like a built in level editor or something. I know that'd oversaturate the game with low quality worlds made by like 12 year olds. Look at what happened to Little Big Planet. But like I wouldn't really care personally, because I'd just be making places to hang with my friends, or recreating places from my past that way I can revisit them whenever I want.

Thank you so much for making this! I've been wanting to try to make my own world, but I hac no idea where to start 😭 and it was intimidating
No problem! We love helping contribute to the VR industry in any way that we can. You got this!
thank you !

wait so you don't need to add mesh colliders anymore?

You can use a photo editing tool to design your collage and then apply it as a texture to the mesh in your 3D modeling software (Blender or Unity) !
It would be nice to go a bit more in-depth on the more technical parts of the in engine stuff
Thank you so much for the feedback Cody! Are you new to world creation for VRChat?

It’s Super easy to do!! Continues to say all sorts of modeling programs you’ll need 😐
Modeling programs can be overwhelming when first hearing about them. Let us know which step you are getting stuck at so we can do our best to help 😁
Thank you so much! This was so helpful. I'm super new and loved these tips. Do you have a video walking through editing a map for VRChat?

i keep installing different versions of unity, then opening the project and getting told the brand new project has compilation errors
Now we can create our own Room of Requiremen

We're on it! 🙌
interesting, i thought it'd be a lot different than making an avatar but i guess not!!
It's not too hard is it?
Me: hearing whale at well 🐳
Haha 😆
you skip stepsssssss
