Been itching for your next upload, so happy
Cheers Gyrion, glad you enjoyed it!
Love the dark skintone. Another fantastic video. Great work Chris! 🔥🔥🔥
Cheers Skipp! Appreciate it!
They look amazing. Ireally like the way you mix colors from different producers for the best of effects.
I always found it difficult to give an Ork army a ragged individual look, without making them too colorful. Your usage of different browns looks really nice, I'll borrow that going forward! 😃
Cheers Nils!
It's all about finding the right tool for the job! And there are a lot of different paints out there, I've barely scratched the surface!
The sculpts help out a lot when it comes to the ragged look! The variety of different equipment on the Orcs is fantastic for making them look individual.
Great tutorial, and great channel! I've also been watching your Battle Reports and I just love the style. Keep it up!
Cheers mate! That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying it all.
I love these, they look very Tolkien-esque.
They are all lovely kits with a very Tolkien vibe!
Nice one Chris, looking crispy. P.s. loving the narrative campaign idea. Excellent and a cut above all batreps I've seen so far.
Cheers Paul! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos and thanks for the support!
Good timing! Mine are assembled and ready to paint!
Great timing! Hopefully I've given you some ideas!
Great painting video as always i like the orangery brown you use for the cloth , I was watching a unboxing of the orcs not sure weather to buy but i will now thanks
Cheers Gary!
They are fantastic figures. Nice crisp, clean details that are easy to paint, typical Oathmark stuff :D
A nice little paint guide mate.
Cheers mate! I hope it helps out!
Thank you for your channel. I’ve been digesting it all trying to think if I want to jump back into Warhammer with their old world release or jump into Oathmark
I have to say your channel is helping I think it will be Oathmatk
I really enjoyed the narrative aspect of the game, and the low fantasy look takes me back to my early days of playing dungeons and dragons
I also noticed use a lot of Vallejo paints. You must have been, or are a historical gamer/model as well. I find those paints to be the best.
I use Vallejo strictly my airbrush for my 1/7 second scale aircraft
Keep up the good work I really appreciate all you do. Here’s some more great videos.
And if you have time, give me your thoughts on the Warhammer old world release coming up
Cheers from Cleveland Ohio
Cheers Steve! I'm glad to hear it.
When I first tried Vallejo, it was just because they were half the price of Citadel paints... and I never went back. They are really good, have a huge range of colours and the quality has always been excellent. Certainly done a bit of historical gaming/modeling too!
Personally, I have absolutely zero interest in Warhammer The Old World. For a variety of reasons.
Cost, balance, rules bloat, destructive magic, I go, you go, constant updates and the inevitable power creep to name a few. GW make great (if overpriced) miniatures, but their rules tend to be lacking.
I played 6th and a wee bit of 7th edition fantasy, and have no desire to go back. There are just better games out there.
Oathmark has it's faults, I'll be the first to admit that, but at it's core, it's a great game that plays really well and plays fast, and you're encouraged to make it your own. Your own kingdom, your own lore, your own stories. And I think that makes it something pretty special.
@@AshandStoneNZ well said, I played a lot of Warhammer fantasy battles and really enjoyed it more than 40 K but for all those reasons you mentioned, I stop playing before it was shall we say blown up
I don’t have that disposable income I used to well maybe I just grew up and I find the pricing to be too much money and I love the low fantasy feel of Oathmatk
I have played quite a few games od Erewhon and really enjoy it but again it has his faults
Keep up the good work and I’ll keep watching and maybe I’ll get something on my channel besides a little airplanes
Yeah, the low fantasy setting is something that has really sold it to me as well. There is just something about the grounded "realistic" fantasy that really appeals.
I switched from WFB to LOTR SBG and really enjoyed it, but there came a point where the power creep set in and then they doubled the price while halving the number of miniatures in a box, and that was it, "No thanks, I'm out!"
Cheers mate, if you were really keen to give the game a go, I see Brigade Games has the rulebook on special for $31USD at the moment, so your timing might be pretty good. 😆
more fantastic work Chris
Cheers Bradley!
Great looking kit and nice paint job.
Thanks very much! I hope it helps out!
Yay painting video!!! 😄
Cheers Ernesto! I hope it helps out!
@@AshandStoneNZ I’m actually new to mini war gaming so these painting videos are really helpful!
That's awesome Ernesto, I'm pleased to hear it. Welcome to the hobby!
@@AshandStoneNZ thanks 🙏
very cool have you instructions for skeletons and Oathmark: Revenant Infantry ?
I do! You can find the Revenant video here: th-cam.com/video/LtpApAcNdzE/w-d-xo.html
and the Skeleton video here: th-cam.com/video/PUoWgQ6rkus/w-d-xo.html
Awesome as always, Chris! I absolutely love these sculpts, and I actually went for a somewhat similar paint scheme for my own Orcs. Though, I never had the thought to work some ancient bronze in there.. I’ll have to go back and do that!
Also, does this maybe mean we’ll see a mini campaign of Vorgakh the Orc Prince? Maybe as he leads the survivors of the Silver Mountains to search for yet another new home?
Though, I highly doubt Moxis the Reanimator is going to retire any time soon, and I can’t wait to see more of him as well!
Cheers Radster!
They are lovely figures.
No plans for an Orc campaign right now (I've got far to many other figures to get painted for now!), but who knows what the future holds.
Wow a great video mate
Cheers mate! I hope it gave you some ideas!
Excellent work, may I ask when the next campaign vid will be available?
Cheers Grim!
Soon. It's almost done but work has been slow as I've been unwell.
@@AshandStoneNZ Get well soon.
Cheers mate!
Have you tried zenithal priming as a base? Might provide more conteast
I have! I find it great when using transparent paints like Contrast or Speed Paint, but when using opaque paints I find that for me, it's largely irrelevant.
By the time I have base coated, washed and highlighted, any subtlety from the undercoat is overwhelmed. It would be different if I was building up thin, translucent layers, but that's not a style of painting I enjoy.
Any update on when the Narrative Campaign will continue?
i second that
Soon. It's almost done but progress has been slow as I've been unwell.
@@AshandStoneNZ Cool beans, hope you're feeling better!
Mate, when you highlight their skin after the wash, do you thin the paint a bit or is it a matter of just not putting a lot of paint on the brush? I tried to add a bit of water when doing highlights and it was a mess - and amazing video. I love that you added some videos about this other face of the hobby.
Cheers Alexandre!
I very rarely thin my paints, probably should, but never got into the habit. In saying that, the Light Grey Green I use for the skin is a Model Air colour, so it's already pre-thinned.
For the pre-thinned paints I only keep a small amount of it on the brush at a time or else (as you seem to have found) it'll flood the area and make a mess. You'll have to experiment a little to find the right amount to have on the brush. I think I normally dip the brush in the paint and wipe off most of it on the palette before going to the miniature.
It's a little vague, but I hope that helps!
@@AshandStoneNZ It helps yeah! Thank you for the explanation and tips
No worries mate!
I really like the flag
Cheers Maximillian!
I used the same process for the banner as that in my skeleton video. If you're curious how I did it: th-cam.com/video/PUoWgQ6rkus/w-d-xo.html
@@AshandStoneNZ thanks mate
No worries! I hope it helps!
Always hated using beasty brown, always seems to chocolate to my eye. Just never seems to look right. Sure others manage to get results out of it.
Yeah it's certainly an odd one. I think this is the first time I've used it in over a decade. It was pretty ubiquitous when I started, but there are so many nicer looking browns you can use!
In saying that, I'm still very happy with how it looks here. The brightness contrasts well with the overall darker look of the model.
Yeh very nice paint job. Well presented thank you.
