The Korean bbq reminds me of 'gourmet', which is populair in Holland. You have little pans and/or a grill plate on the table where you cook your own dish. Butchers and supermarkets sell meat packages specially made for this, small burgers and cuts of meat, and often people do this at Christmas or other holidays.

White girl from Europe here. You guys NEED to explore Korean/Japanese food more. Kimchi came straight from heaven. Bibimbap (you had that with the BBQ), nabe, okonomiyaki and oh. my. god. seriously.

Ben always says that food is personal and social.....I never really understood that until I watched this. There are different cultures represented and different sorts of people gathered together to enjoy a mutual interest, food. It all makes sense now. Food creates a diverse community. =)

You guys need to go to Budapest, Hungary!!!!!!!
Great food. Fried Langos (with spicy sausage) will be Jamie's favorite. And chimney cake is the most fun.
But the city is so international, the possibilities are endless!
Not to mention the amazing, historic coffee culture.
Try Ruszwurm bakery in the Buda Castle District- it's rumored that Empress Sissi had their baked goods (cake esp) brought to her in her palace!!!!!!!!!!

As a Belgian citizen who drinks and likes beer: we do not consider it a food. We do have beers for before, during and after meals; but we’re not having beer for lunch and wine is still a lot more popular during meals.
That being said it can be drunk as a digestif, to help your food to digest, or to cook with adding flavour and richness (as Ben would say I guess)
Fun fact: we DO refer to light craft beer as ‘glazen boterham’ (glass sandwich) because a few of them can fill you up just as much as some bread would.
I would never take international food advice from a country that used to call chips (fries) “french fries”. ;-)

and people give shit about the food in america and the american foods. I tell you I've traveled and I've traveled A LOT, first things I look for in a country that I'm in are the restaurants and places to eat&drink. America has by far the best overall quality for food and variety. You're pretty much getting the best of all hits here from all around the world.

5 years a little too late, but if anyone visits the area of Monkish then they should try Smog City and The Dudes as well. Before everything going on right now, Monkish still had the same best pizza vendor ever and great beers. Except now they’ve added IPAs to their menu 😬Lol they’re worth a sample though! The other two breweries are very experimental and have some delicious ones. Just ask for a taste😁

i connect with that korean bbq on a whole new level
basically my favorite type of way to eat food, good food at that.
if you guys do head back to NY for the tour, theres a really good one in Queens called Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong on Northern Blvd. i don't remember the name, but its absolutely amazing korean bbq. they have a whole set up on a piece of paper you get. so once you cook the protein, you dip it in the sauce, (which is bomb, you can use the base and add more ingredients), and add the really fresh salad they give, along with other small vegetable dishes, and cram it into your mouth. it's a glorious flavor that's indescribable. it's also quite unique. their grill is circular, and has an outer ring where they cook eggs and corn from the grill's heat. they have a bunch of cold noodles and other korean specialties- like pancakes- that you can order from the kitchen, along with the bbq aspect. highly recommended. and the atmosphere is great, it's never quiet in there. like ben said, a sociable food.
so basically, can you tell i'm in love with this restaurant?

HeySorted Food! So, on the blog you asked if we had comments on how the Lost and Hungry tour was going so far, and I have to say, I'd much rather prefer less scripted more "travel vlogs" style videos, where you show us the whole adventure: the traveling, the adventure from when you get the recommendation to the actual eating and your opinions on such foods rather than sit with the cooks who never seem to have anything really interesting to say...
I hope I don't come off as harsh since I absolutely love you guys and the idea of this tour, I guess I'd just prefer the videos to be more spontaneous. Focus less on looking like a perfect tv show or a normal cooking video and more on showing what it is actually like to travel and discover great food and places. I'd honestly rather have a lesser quality of filming and editing but more "you" (a video every couple of days maybe? I mean, you have a whole team to help and there are dailyvloggers who do it all by themselves while traveling...). I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I thought I should be honest about my opinion.
Oh and also, it would be awesome if you could arrange sometimes for chef's to show 1 recipe, really non-formally, just showing it quickly. I don't know, that's just an idea of something that popped into my head. It could make great publicity for the chef/restaurant and give viewers inspiration for new recipes!
Can't wait to see what you're up to next! :)
