For me, in my subjective view, this is one of my absolutely favourite things to play in the entire cello repertoire. It was a pleasure to learn, up there with the Rachmaninov. Very special music, emotionally devastating, sometimes deliberately obscured, but with moments of the tenderest beauty. A joy.
Une musique d’une profondeur, d’une noblesse, d’une grandeur sans équivalents, servie magnifiquement par deux interprètes admirables. Le mouvement lent est à tomber à genoux.
This slow movement is taken from the funeral march Fauré had previously written for the 100th year of the death of Napoleon, a funeral march also for the millions who had lost their life in the insanity of WWI, a march that then had turned itself - in Faurés own words - into a sonata.
One feels magically transported into Faure's world by these two great artists.

it's a pleasure to see isserlis smiling and "dancing".
Je n'ai pas de mots pour exprimer la poésie et l'intelligence de cette interprétation.
Nice to see a page-turner enjoying the music too!
She’s now a cellist , too. She plays cello beautifully .
She’s a TH-camr as well ( CelloKoko ) , that’s why I can meet you here .

6:15 incredible slow movement

Loving the 92Y logo obscuring half his cello.
a great love for music creates a masterpiece!!!!!
oh this nice love music of this period and Faure.... Bravo!
perfection
Good audio balance, cello not overpowering: the cello is not actually the solo instrument. The piano supplies most of the music.
Why is it only showing my views?
The piano and cello parts are on different planets, without intersecting.
True. Terrible piece.
