Don’t know if you have the space for it, but the carrots. I shred them, pack them in muffins tins to make about 1/2 cup pucks and flash freeze them. Then I store them in gallon bags in the freezer, for baking. I also cut them into small bite size chunks and can them to use in whatever cooking dishes I want them in. They are really easy to can up and other than the prep, they don’t take long.

Thanks friend. They should store pretty well for most of the winter in the cold room we have under the cabin. I think I definitely will shed and freeze some too. I really like you muffin tin idea. Makes it very usable. Thanks. 😊

I just love your honest assessments of everything! Very helpful, and really gives a sense that we all have "bombs & blessings" (as I like to call it) in this lifestyle. That's something I love too, is learning from (and supporting) each other. Azure is something I want to try so bad, but honestly, for our needs, we're self-sufficient in much of what we'd order. But I love their ethos, products and service, so I'll be shopping someday!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Those muffins look delicious. I love cheese as well. It's soooooo good. I wish azure would come to Canada. Just a goat hint. It seems such a shame to have that many nannies and only one kid. When it's breeding season, keep your bucks with them for about 6 weeks or even longer. They go into cycle but sometimes don't take the first time around. So if you keep the misters with the nannies they are sure to get everyone prego. It will make the boys really happy as well. I always kept my buck with the girls and he got all of them every year and sometime some got bred back about a month after baby. Just a suggestion.

Dr. Bonner's in pharmacy is about 15.99 for that size bottle so what you pd was a decent price. Their scents are very light. Ms Chrystal and Mr Cookie Monster Mouse have a great day!

I got those #2 carrots, too. I canned some plain, canned some with honey and spices, fermented some, dehydrated some (coins and shreds), and ate fresh. The Canning Diva Dianne Devereaux has a pressure canning book with a carrot soup recipe I'd like to try. Think I'll try a small batch first to see if we like it.
Sorry the onion jam didn't work for you. I don't think it would work for me, either.
I eat bananas not quite ripe to very ripe without problem. We had some that we weren't going to use up fast enough, so i dehydrated them for our own banana chips. I also used one of the bananas with some cantaloupe and flax meal to make fruit leather.
Our household works better with fewer starchy carbs and less sugar, so i try for things we'll like that work well for us. Our taste buds really like the sugar and starchy stuff, but we are making the effort to reduce those. Having the sweet fruits like banana or cantaloupe dehydrated (or canned, as i did with some of the cantaloupe) in smaller servings gives us chance to have a taste without waste.

It means that we would have kidding season when it’s still freezing cold out and snowing. We were so sure that our plan was gonna work last year, but alas. The year before last we didn’t plan very well at all and had everybody had babies. Last year we tried planning and ended up with one. So we’re kind of going for organized chaos this year. Starting December 1 will put all the boys and girls together for six weeks. Then babies will come end of May through June. Most of the snow is melted by the end of May, so it will be warm enough. 😊
