Heya! I think you should retry it. What you do is you freeze the fruit first, then tanghulu it. That eay the sugar will not stick as much and will turn to a lighter substance easier. Also they stay better on the stick
I’ve never done this but three things would make this easier: one just make it so the fruit can’t fall off, put a stopper on, that’s literally the main reason it didn’t work for all the fails you showed. Getting it to actually string out like in the successful clip looks like it requires two things, firstly getting the right temperature and spinning it extremely fast, all of you spun it too slow for fear of it falling off (wouldn’t be a problem if you had a stopper).

It sticks to the skin, is impossible to remove while it's hot, and can leave injuries similar in severity to napalm (although I've never seen a napalm burn other than in photos, that one is second hand information). Do not do this without proper gear and equipment, unless you feel like having permanent face, arm, and hand scarring. If it's hot enough to fly, it's hot enough to burn. Just get a portable cotton candy machine, it's cheaper than the hospital bills.
I think the main problem is that their spinning it back and forth at a decently slow pace when the original shows it being spun very fast in one direction, but I assume it’s harder than it looks.
also, make sure you are covered head to toe and heat proof clothing because otherwise you're going to get molten sugar all over yourself and have 3rd to 4th degree burns!

There's probably more than one thing they do for it to stick better in the first video but I do think they have a bit of the skewers exposed at the end, meaning the sugar sticks there and kind of holds the strawberries in place while you spin.
The trick is to spin it in ONE DIRECTION ONLY. if you alternate directions like nick the sugar will not properly form the light sugary cotton Also be sure to spin very fast to get the best results
Have a skewer with prongs to secure the frozen strawberries. The prongs holds the strawberries from falling off while the frozen strawberries have the ability to cool down the sugar to where it can puff up when spun
