This looks pretty good. I'm a fan of the original tv series and the movies, and nathan lane is a perfect choice of Gomez. I can't pass judgement since i don't live in NYC and haven't seen it, but music seems a little too upbeat for something about the Addams family. I think the music could be darker to help it from sounding like somewhat generic Broadway fare and still retain the Addams charming dark humor. It looks like they really played it safe. But i'll certainly see it next time i'm in NYC.
Gomez was the archetypal slender swordsman, athletic, dramatic, and quite insane... "Well there was that episode with the Cheese Whiz, but I'm feeling much better, now..." I saw this but Nathan Lane was replaced with the late Roger Rees. Being a Cheers/Frasier fan it was great to see 2 actors who were on those shows live.
Looks dark and depressing....I prefer something uplifting and bright with good music! I am sure that people who grew up with the Addams family on TV, they will probably enjoy it and I am sure the actors put a lot of work into their performances. Just not my cup of tea on this one.
Does it seem dark and depressing because most of them are in black, or because they talk about death and stuff? This is a genuinely uplifting musical at its heart, and I almost broke down in tears during the last song each night. You should give the soundtrack a listen, it's really good.
@@zoebenemerito6248 That all depends on who designed the show being filmed. Each production is different, and I'm sure you can find one with a more blue-green bent. (The one I did went for a lot of brown and red iirc, but it wasn't filmed, unfortunately)
I'm not a casting director, but this musical convinces me that I could be, I'm not thrilled with the choices, since Gomez should be very thin, Wednesday should be more attractive, and Lurch should be more of a zombie. Still It's theatre, and good theatre, so I'll not complain.
You seem like such a horrible casting director! This is why ppl of color and plus sized ppl can't get good roles. And---- Wednesday wasn't designed to be a so called attractive character.
you really need to brush up on your researching skills and do your homework when u refer to cultural icons, Elvira was something that began 1981 when the creators of a show wanted a female host and initialy wanted to get Vampira character who allready was established but the while the creator of Vampira worked for a bit on the design of the show she left when they wouldnt hire the actress she suggested and when they did create Elvira instead she sued them on copyright infringement (they answered the only similarity was the dress). She said that Vampira was based on Morticia Adams ( the comic for Adams family started in 1938 and series on tv based on it at 1964) So to summarize Elvira actualy wears a Morticia Adams dress and not the other way around.
Now if only someone could leak this whole film...

This is based on the classic Addams Family, the OGs, hand-dra, Gomez is in fact, chubby and quite short.
