@KBABZ yes, it really gave that special sauce to Wukong & Balatro. Honestly I'm surprised the Balatro theme is as good as it is. This might be the best year for the TGA Orchestra

Please keep doing what you’re doing. Your compilation video has the best volume and audio quality out of all the compilation videos that were uploaded this year. Other videos I checked were in lower volume so I couldn’t increase the volume further on my phone.

I also think it's because my account is no longer Verified; a lot of features like timecodes in the progress bar have disappeared because of that, and I think coming up in searches is one of them. And yes they DID copy my idea; all the knock-offs use the EXACT SAME thumbnail formatting (but shittier versions, like seriously they don't do what I do where the years at the bottom match the GOTY text in the middle).

Or even when the camera just shows a section in sinc (the french horns at 30:32 scratch my brain). Music is so cool.

2024's medley was a return to form where all the pieces were back to sounding unique. The repetitive background music was kind of annoying in the 2022 and 2023 medleys. Especially the loud drum beat.
This was something I was bothered by too! While those years are still good, using the same drum beat didn't really do much for them. I think 2023 fixed it a little or at least the drum wasn't as obnoxious.
Not only that, but The Spy Guys flat-out ripped off my thumbnail style. Luckily it seems people seem to be able to tell the difference, such as yourself!
I think 2024 might be favourite version so far! But man, listening back to the Metroid Dread theme, Super Mario Wonder theme, and RE2's theme, those are still some of the best orchestral renditions!
Man. Some of those years were like peak gaming. Some amazing nominees could get every other GOTY award if they were released in those years. And what an orchestra. It gives you literal chills to listen their master class work. They are Geoff's best choice that he made for this award show. I salute these magicians. They make the music so beautiful, it makes me want to play that game even if i was never interested in it.
You know one of the most impressive years was actually 2012 for me. Even back in the cringy SpikeTV VGA award days, the Orchestra was still giving 110%.

5:31 I’ll never stop wondering why the last note of BotW’s theme always gets cut from the videos. I guess it’s just copyright issues with Nintendo, but I don’t know.
Someone asked this on the 2024 video and I'd forgotten, so I went back to check. From what I could recall, I reduced it simply to move onto the next song more quickly, so that it feels a touch closer to the other orchestras like 2012 and 2018.
@@KBABZ Probably because there is a lot of them now. I think YT have limited number of timecodes that can be set. A pinned comment should work if it won't push through. Thanks for your work 👍
little dissapointed that they didnt use celestial theme for wukong , still not feeling 2024 goty orchestra . 2018 is still the peak . but Pedro Eustache always killing it
Celestial theme is peak Wukong theme, though I think they used golden cudgel theme since it has the closest beat to the one they used for the entire medley (they have been doing the same technique since 2020). Celestial is more on a marching beat, but the use of guzheng is more prominent that I like more.
They didn't use an orchestra in those years! The idea was first done for the 2012 VGAs, and considering it's Keighley behind the scenes and Lorne Balfe composing and conducting, I felt it was close enough to count.
personally i like it as a calm down after the intense RE4->TOTK. granted i get your point and I think it may have worked better if they used the symbiote theme in the middle
